There’s another thing that can do it too. While it’s fairly rare out in the wild, dungeons, especially the ones involving rogue or warrior style enemies, often throw Disarming attacks at you. They temporarily remove the use of your weapon, and for a warrior, you need your weapon for nearly everything. You can yell angrily, stomp the ground, punch them in the face (Pummel), or beat them with a shield, and that’s about it.
God I hate getting disarmed, even as a paladin. OTOH, on my march to level 80 I managed to get my Unarmed skill up to 252 purely through throwing punches after being disarmed. Still, since I’ve gotten it that high I figure that once I finally get my fourth and final weapon skill up to 400 for the [Master of Arms] achievement, I may as well sheathe my weapons and go around punching things to try for [Did Somebody Order a Knuckle Sandwich?]
I touched the eye of azoram and am looking at some stupid building but I am stuck there. How do I get out?
Do certain instances require that you be in a group to even enter them? I’ve tried entering a few alone, most recently Tempest Keep and Zul’Aman, and I can’t even get through the door. Well, I pass through the swirly portal-thingy, but then there seems to be an invisible wall preventing me from going any further.
Yes, raid instances require you to be in a raid group to enter. Kind of silly really, since you only need two characters in the raid and the other one can be offline, it can even be your own alt!
All raid instances require you to be in a raid group. It can be a raid group of two members, where the other one is offline even, but it still has to be set as a raid.
Zul’aman, in addition, has a gong that requires five people bang on it, to open the front doors. And as for Tempest Keep’s Eye, you’ll get all of about five feet into the place before meeting enemies that will utterly crush you without a reasonably sized party
I did that with my DK. Of course, Death Knights start with unarmed at 270. Had raised polearms to 400 en route to 80, wound up levelling two handed swords to 400 while swinging around my runeblade of demonstrable power, then needed to skill up my 2handed maces for my titansteel destroyer. So unarmed was the logical last thing to get, 2 achievements in one go.
Fire Festival started this weekend. I’ve already got Flame Warden of Eastern Kingdoms, Flame Warden of Kalimdor, Extinguish Eastern Kingdoms and Extinguish Kalimdor. I’ve got the Undercity and Thunder Bluff flames, and I’m currently about to enter Silvermoon to get that one. Orgrimmar, maybe in the morning, when there are fewer people on. I tried it already once today and got snuffed like a goddamn candle.
Really??? Who would control his actions - the game itself?

Nobody, the character’s logged out and offline. But raid groups don’t follow the normal rules of ungrouping logged out players - you’re in the raid forever and ever until you either leave, are removed, or are the last person remaining. It would require a third person to invite someone switching between characters, but after that, they can leave group and do their own thing to let you solo inside a raid instance. Typically people won’t want to hang around in the group while you do this, because while in a raid group, you don’t get credit for any and every quest that isn’t specifically flagged as a (Raid) quest.
Got the Flame of Silvermoon. Just need Org now to get the halo.
I know, but using one’s alt? How would you do that?
Log in one character, say WolkenA. WolkenA groups with Jayjay, and Jayjay turns the group into a raid group. You log out WolkenA, but he stays part of the raid group. You log in WolkenB and Jayjay invites you to the raid group. Jayjay makes WolkenB the leader and then he quits. You’re now in a raid group with one member online and one member offline, both of them on your account. You’ll never have both on at once, but they’ll both stay in the raid group until it’s disbanded. Does that make sense?
Yes, thanks, Bosstone. I just thought it might not be possible for just me and only WolkenB to be in the same raid.
Unarmed skill is really easy to get.
Do the quest Torch of Retribution The Torch of Retribution - Quest - World of Warcraft in Searing Gorge.
Equip said torch and beat on a low level beast outside your favorite starting area or capital. Go grocery shopping.
The torch will cause no damage but will level your unarmed skill. You won’t afk-logout if you’re in combat, so you can just walk away and come back some time later to maxed out skill.
aktep, is that for me? If so, thanks, I will check it out. I’m in the middle of moving so I’m posting on my wife’s computer (which doesn’t have WoW loaded), but should have it back Monday night!

Bosstone:" Sorry I missed this reply!
Thanks for that tip. I noticed during the DM quest, ol Wolkie was just standing there with nothing on his bar, and looking stupid, and I just waited for the bar to fill back up - feeling stupid.
Slowly but surely, I’m “getting” it, but for those who don’t know, I know they’ve GOT to wonder how in the hell I got to 25!:dubious:
Still wouldn’t play anything else, though, even though now I have to go back with another raid to get Van Cleef’s head!

I think aktep’s post was part of the conversation about raising unarmed weapon skill between Mister Rik and Tom Scud. I’m pretty sure you don’t have the level yet to be able to do quests in Searing Gorge, which is where the quest for the Torch of Retribution happens.
Thanks, jay. i try, but don’t always make the “connection”!
w00t! My 1-hand sword skill hit 400 while I was whaling on that lvl 74 elite broodmother worm thingy as a favor to some frost giant or whathaveyou in Dragonblight
Now that that’s out of the way, I’ve stuck my shield and all my weapons except for my polearm (which does the highest damage of the bunch) in my bank so they’re not all taking up space in my bags. Took almost 7 months, but I’m finally a Master of Arms.
I honored all the Alliance flames and extinguished all the Horde flames in Eastern Kingdoms and Outland, and got started on Kalimdor. I decided to go EK -> Outland -> Kal because I figured it would be easiest to do the EK stuff, hearth to Dalaran, do my fishing daily there, port to Shatt and do the fishing daily there, hit all the Outland flames, and then port to Exodar. Figured that would be less boring than waiting on the boat from Menethil to Theramore, and would let me start at the Northern end of the continent and work my way South
Oh, and I finally got around to entering the Stranglethorn fishing contest for the first time. I had 36 tastyfish when a winner was announced. Not bad for a first showing, I guess! I also caught one of the rare fish and got my fishing boots
