World of Warcraft General Discussion

Sometimes it’s better to tell a random asker that you’re just about ready to log off and go eat, nap, work, etc. so the asker CAN’T get all pissy if you’re not the right toon for the run.

You owe these fine folks $5 SFG and me 500g.

So you don’t think that dressing slutty invites comments, sometimes rude suggestive comments?

Maybe we are getting a bit off topic but it is relevant to the point we are discussing.

This is what I do because telling someone that I am not specced for tanking doesn’t always do the trick. The response is frequently “Oh come on, just try, we’ll summon you”

Healers never ask off spec tanks to tank and tanks never ask off spec healers to heal. They know better but about half the WOW population don’t seem to realize this.

The only reason it invites comments is because people have a strange inability to mind their own business, and think that other people choose their attire with anything in mind but the fact that they want to wear whatever it is they want to wear.

I now feel nostalgic for the days–last week, wasn’t it?–when this was a fun discussion that didn’t involve either major wagging of e-peens or irrelevant slut-shaming.

And frankly, dressing “slutty” is almost unavoidable for mail-wearing female toons. I think the armor gets skimpier the better it gets in protection and stats.

Nonsense. They can simply just either wear shitty gear, or none at all. =P

<prepares for incoming flame about my use of “shitty gear”>

Hey, it works for Red Sonja :stuck_out_tongue:

Tonight a group of us went to DM and made it all the way to Van Cleef, and apparently I was supposed to loot the corpse for his head to complete the quest, but all night long, I’d been sharing in the loot, so I thought the head would come to me by way of the toon who actually beheaded him!

NOT!

I needed to claim his head as loot on my own… :frowning:

So I have to start all over?

Good news is I levelled to 25 tonight.

It was a great time and no one got mad at me and I always waited to get rezzed.

They were ALL VERY NICE to me and I just DPS’d all night long!

(The whole thing took and hour and a half!)

That was a toughie, Kids!

I had to bio-break three times! Luckily it was while I was dead.

The only thing that’s automatically distributed in group looting is coins. There are two different kinds of “other loot” and they’re handled differently in groups. If there’s a specific thing, like a specific body part (Van Cleef’s head, f’rinstance) everyone in the group will be able to loot one (kind of weird, thinking of Van Cleef with five heads, huh?). If it’s just a generic quest item (the silk bandannas you need to gather for the chick in the tower), they drop just like regular crap and it all depends on your luck in getting to loot the right mob. Regular stuff (greys and whites and general quest items as opposed to greens or blues) tends to be distributed round robin…Player 1 gets this corpse, Player 2 gets the next, Player 3 gets the next, Player 4 the one after, Player five the one after that, then it goes back to Player 1.

The good news is that NOW you’ve gotten through the whole dungeon (how’d you like Mr. Smite?), so doing it again isn’t that bad. If it’s any consolation, I did the same kind of thing in a group encounter in Northrend…there’s a quest that lets you decide which of two factions you want to try to get positive rep with. During the fight, the boss puts up a shield and you’re SUPPOSED to “rescue” either an individual of one of the factions or an individual of another from his magic prisons. I…did not know this. I knew the fight was the chance to pick a faction but I didn’t realize the mechanism by which they made that happen. So I more or less sat out the shielded portion instead of clicking on one of the prisoners to free him, and after the fight was over, went to look up the quest on Wowhead, because I somehow hadn’t gotten the rep with the faction I wanted. That’s when I figured it out. I still haven’t done the fight again…haven’t got around to it.

Aw heck yeah. First Deadmines run is always to be treasured. Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll find folks to run through again and get the stupid head. (In Northrend around level 75-ish, you meet the head of the Westfall militia again, and he goes over ‘good times’ with you about it.)

(You can also meet Old Blanchy again, but I’m not revealing how. Let me simply say I now have a blood vendetta for that damn horse!)

Another instance that I’ll always remember fondly is Zul’Farak (aka ZF) and the ‘Temple event’ in it. I almost crapped my pants when it started…

It was a GREAT TIME, Jay and ArrMatey! Just the right combination of “laid-backs” and when I asked for instruction, I was told to just to keep jabbin’ that pointy thing in my hand into the nearest enemy!

They were just so AWESOME and you should have seen them work!

We rested when we needed to, I got all kinds of blessings of strength (buffs?) bestowed on me, and for the first time since doing DM, I felt “comfortable”.

We had a Priest who wasn’t all that comfortable either, and she and I both had to be rezzed! We talked in chat while we waited…

I added all the ones I could as my “FRIENDS”.

Sometimes though when I took the lead, and went charging into the nearest Defias Pirate (and whoever), I looked at my bar and nothing was lit up, so I just had to stand there and get hit! Eventually everything on the bar DID become active, but I felt like an idjit waiting for that to happen!

What was I doing wrong, y’all?

PS: Mr. Smite got ALL my attention, right off the bat!

And so did that raised voice telling everyone they were “Under Attack!”

And the voice which said something like, “I didn’t expect you to be so tough! Looks like I’ll have to think up something else!”?

Man! That blasted into all 4 of my Surround-Sounds and made me know I still have a sphincter!

THAT guy was LOUD and SCARY,** jay**!

Yeah, friggin’ Mr. Smite and his friggin’ bigger and bigger weapons…it’s like a deadly game of “Let’s see what’s in the trunk!”

Okay, WTF? I flew into Valgarde in Howling Fjord just in time to see a level 45 human warrior come running off the boat. I didn’t think it was supposed to even be possible to travel to NR before level 68

Well, my understanding is that only the gateways (the Dark Portal to Outland, the boat to Northrend) are level-locked, and if you can find a friendly mage to port you to Shatt or Dalaran, you can visit them early. But that doesn’t explain “running off the boat.”

Quasi, when nothing on your bar is lit up, that means you don’t have any rage. You know the red bar under your health that grows during a fight? Your abilities use that. You get rage by getting hit and hitting back.

You said you had to just let yourself get hit for a while; you know you have a default attack, right? If you click your Attack button (if you haven’t changed things around, it will be on the far left of your row of abilities) or even just right-click on the enemy you want to hit, you’ll do a basic sword swing over and over. That will help build up your rage, as well as do damage of course.

There is no level limit on the boat, you can get to Northrend at level 1 if you like, not much point other than to visit the profession trainers though.
My understanding of the level limit on the Dark Portal was that they wanted to keep people who had no business in Outland out during the initial rush(it was laggy enough with only level 58+ there), they were supposed remove it at some point but never did.

Quasi, all in all it sounds like an awsome time! Glad you enjoyed it. Sounds like you’ll be heading to Redridge next, which I find kinda boring (not much storyline there except for ‘Gnolls and orcs are bad, m’kay?’) and then Duskwood (which has more storyline than you can shake a haunted stick at.)

Yeah, I have some unfinished business in Red Ridge with the Black Rock Champs. The few times I was there, though, even though we didn’t officially group up, it seemed that a few of us would have been better off if we had.

Anyone done this quest, and what’s your opinion?

Thanks!

Q

Well, I finally made a Hordie on Cairne: Bonetosser the Orc Warrior. I don’t know how strongly the Burning Dog Legion is still going, but next time I’m on I’ll buzz someone who looks high-ranking for an invite.

Quasi, the Black Rock Champions are tough. It’s a very difficult quest to solo until you’re a few levels higher than the Champions. Not to say you can’t do it, but it takes some patience and determination. A group works very well there.
