World of Warcraft General Discussion

First of all, I levelled to 27 tonight, just one night after achieving 26!

But before y’all “gratz” me, my levelling was thanks to my guild leader Vortex who took me and 3 others through the stockades, and she was A-friggin’-mazin’ to watch!

She told the three of us at the outset that we did not need to attack, so we just stepped back outta the way while she taunted and then killed all those Defias prisoners!

We did, however, pick up the runners and dispatch them!

Y’all, it was “poetry in motion” to watch her work, and my only regret is that my bags kept filling up, but even then she told me to hearth out and come back, and at one point even bought some stuff to free up space for me!

She did 2 Stockade runs for us, and I am already well over 10K XP on the way to my next level!

I cannot tell you her level in this post, but apparently one of her quests was to run her guild through an instance in less than 30 minutes.

Anyway, a great time was had by all!

Question: One of my acquisitions was an 8-slot white leather bag.

Now I know we need bags, but I don’t have a place to put it! My bar at the bottom has all the bags it can hold, and I didn’t know what else to do so I put it in the bank for right now.

What a great night this has been!

We’re doing Dead Mines (again!:smack:) later this evening.

Oh, and BTW: I am now revered in Stormwind, mmkay, but y’all can still call me “Quasi”! :D:D:D:D

Thanks

Quasi

I assume the 8-slot bag is not bigger than any of your current bags?

I haven’t played in a while, so I’m not sure if there are any recipes requiring that bag, but you can certainly keep it in your bank until you need the extra space in your bank that the bag can provide. I’m not sure if you know, but you can purchase bag slots in your bank at progressively higher prices.

Well, yeah Animastryfe I did know that (about being able to buy additional bags, I mean:)), but I was just wondering how to go about moving THAT bag where it can do some good, so I don’t constantly have to excuse myself from a raid because my bags are full.

I have linen and wool cloths galore, but someone once told me I would need those for my First Aid profession! A slot will only hold 20, and I have auctioned off a lot of them just to make space.

Also, can you tell me what “Greed” means in an instance?

Some of that stuff I don’t want so I hit the GREED button as an opposite to NEED, is that correct?

I also PASS on a lot of things as well.

I just want to be proper, “WoW etiquette-wise”

Thanks

Quasi

ETA: No, I have bigger bags than just 8 slots.

This varies from server to server, but the general rule that I find is: greed all BoEs, but need BoPs if you are actually going to use it. If someone really wants that BoE, then you two can figure it out later. Ask an experienced guildmate what the rules on your server are.

You will need cloths for first aid. What level is your first aid right now? Cloths are cheap, and if you really need the space I suppose you could just sell it, or level up your first aid right now until you don’t need wool/linen anymore.

Yes I would, as far as I’m concerned Spellpower > all, except hit.
I leveled as Affliction, crit is useless, more mana doesn’t actually kill stuff, more spell power on the other hand meant that Siphon and Drain Life healed me more, the mobs died faster and my pet wasn’t tanking anyway. The only thing sta/int increase is your endurance(and your down time since you’ll use more mana per mob and that mana needs to be regenerated somehow), not your kill speed. Personally I prefer to just kill the mobs rather than outlasting them.

Bosstone, because the actual damage increase from Spellpower depend on the spell you’re casting the mechanics behind Spellpower aren’t as transparent as they are for most of the other stats, but it is the primary stat casters have for increasing their damage output.

Well, we need some place where we can farm Red Dragonscales, and Axtroz(well, his skull anyway) was part of the Horde Onyxia prequest apparantely.
But seriously, there are serveral locations that didn’t serve any purpose originally but has had content added, Karazhan, Zul’Gurub, Caverns of Time, Silithus.
So they may add a raid instance or something in Grim Batol at some point(or they may not, we’ll find out eventually :)).

Gratz on your levels Quasi.

Need = You want it because you will use it
Greed = You wouldn’t mind having it but you’re probably wont be using it you’ll sell it or disenchant it for gold
Pass = Not interested thank you

At lower levels I think this is fine and it certainly works for me (I haven’t annoyed anyone yet) I only roll Need on something that will improve my current gear, Greed if my bags are relatively empty so I can sell it if no one Needs it and I win the roll and Pass if my bags are getting full and I can’t use it\it isn’t an upgrade just in case a Need item shows up later. Later on it seems to get more complicated, see the recent discussion here, not a problem for either of us at the moment though.

Get yourself some bigger bags on the AH would be my advice - 16 slot bags are going for ~5g or so on my server and they make a huge difference if you’re running a lot of instances. One stockade run will pay for it and more.

I have to concur with this, at least at my level range (now 37 Affliction also). I mentioned here before I was struggling with Life Tap\Drain Life making much difference so went out and bought as much +spell power or +shadow damage gear I could find. It has made a huge difference I am now hardly drinking at all and can take on 3 mobs of my level without too much trouble. Yes my health is now lower (by quite a bit actually) it’s just I kill mobs quicker and the mana and life I get back from spells is a lot higher so I can life tap\drain life to my heart’s content really.

Well I am 37 now so that is probably a good reason not to do it, if I had attempted it at 31 I would agree with you I think.

So here I was about to exclaim delight that I have my lovely new Staff of Dar’Orahil which is just crying out for an enchant on that lovely red globe and it seems I may have picked the wrong reward! Why is the Orb of Dar’Orahil better do you think? I like the look of staves so that is probably the major reason I picked it but even then I thought the extra spellpower was worth more than the heal which was only a healthstone and not instant.

Because the orb can be combined with a 1h weapon adding even more spellpower

Heh that should have been obvious though I don’t see many 1h weapons with spell power on the AH.

Agree. There is that one quest though that I loved. It was for the “final” minion, the one you go to Feralas and talk to Niby for. Mostly it was another go here, collect items off mobs, go there and collect more items off more mobs, but the final battle with El Pollo Grande was fun. Fear The Great Black Chicken Of Death

It’s the warlock one. Fortunately, warlocks are very good at “kiting” mobs. That’s How I did it. Throw your corruption and agony on that sucker, and run him around in a circle until he drops dead. I finished a lot of quests doing that.

People answered your “what happened here” question, but I’m not sure anyone actually told you how to talk to a GM.

Down on your utility bar, where you have the buttons for things like talents, your spellbook, your quest log, etc., there’s a button with a big red question mark on it. That’s the Help button. Clicking that will bring up a window that has a searchable help database, and links to report issues.

One button is “Report an Issue,” the other is “Talk to a GM.” I tend to use the first if there’s just something I want to tell them about (e.g., reporting another player), where I know there’s nothing to discuss. (It’s Blizz policy not to ever discuss disciplinary actions taken against another player with the person who reported them, so you’ll never find out what steps they took, or if they even did anything at all.) I reserve the second for when I know I’m going to need to actually have a GM do something for me–e.g., a quest is bugged, or an item was mis-looted and I need to have it transferred to another character.

Yup, lots of speculation, just nothing solid. There are actually quite a few areas of the world (mainly in the old world) that are currently locked away, including Grim Batol, Gilneas, Uldum, and the other dungeon in SW.

If you look at your bank, you will see bag slots at the bottom. These start out locked, but you can pay to unlock them. The first slot starts out cheap, and then the price increases–I believe the cost is 10s, 1g, 10g, and 25g each for the last four.

Pssssst… I’m **Exalted **with all five Alliance factions.

Huh, well, if you’re not going OOM all the time, that’s all good, then. Personally, I’m leveling my lock as Demo, so fast killing isn’t at the top of my list, anyway. What are your profs? If one of them is Tailoring, the Robe of Power (BoP crafted) is waaaaay better than the Robe of Doan (10 more Int, 9 more Hit, and 2 more SP).

And that’s why you should look at BoP drops and quest rewards, too. Hypnotic Blade pairs really well with the 'Lock offhand.

Wowhead is really amazing for finding upgrades–their search function has a ton of customizable filters, and they’ve even got a comparison feature that will let you look at two or more items side-by-side, and either compare all of them to each other (in terms of stat gains or losses), or compare one of them to everything else.

The only bad thing about their comparison chart is that, at least as far as I’ve been able to determine, you can’t plug in an “of the X” enchantment. Maybe I missed it somewhere, which happens pretty often.

At those levels, I went for (going strictly from memory) spellpower, intellect, and stamina. Why stamina? For tapping. Tapping is what I did, until I got Dark Pact, and I still tap now at 80… with Pact and Tap, I don’t have to drink. If the imp is “run down” I tap. If he is “up” I use Pact. Needless to say, I can farm like a maniac

Quasi, about that bag…

Before you buy a new bank slot to put it in, figure out if it’s bigger than any of the bags you currently have. If you’re still working with 6-slot bags in your bag bar, then you probably want to replace one of those with your new 8-slot.

What you want to do (if you have a 6-slot on you now) is to drag the 8-slot bag down to the bag bar and drop it on top of the 6-slot (note that you can’t put it in the same slot as the bag that it was in). It should replace the 6-slot with the new 8-slot instantly, and the 6-slot that was there before will go into your bags.

I’m not the one leveling a Warlock right now, I was just using the Robe of Doan as an example of something worth farming when you got someone to help you
But yes, if you got tailoring, Robe of Power is a nobrainer.

Really, the two most annoying things a remember from leveling my Warlock(other than the Felhunter quest) are:

  1. After dotting one mob it would take a litte while for it to die so I got dazed while looking for a new victim.
  2. I had to turn around every now and then to loot the trail of bodies behind me :stuck_out_tongue:

Although, now that I think about it, I have those problems at level 80 too.

My priest has decided that the difference between Shadow and Light is that Light needs its own port-a-potty. Neither she when Shadow nor the warlock drink, except for RP purposes (a dwarf refusing drink would risk being kicked out of the clan).

And that means I might as well never join another PUG because there is almost nothing I can pick up for my healing spec in 5 mans.

And that is why I no longer group with rogues. Druids understand the problem and we all roll on everything but rogues get bent out of shape because noone competes with us on caster/healer gear and then we compete with them on melee/tank gear.

Ah, I’d forgotten about Gilneas and Uldum, though neither of those is currently as difficult to get to as Grim Batol. If you’re Alliance, at least, you can just walk right up to the gate of Gilneas, and there’s really nothing at all guarding the front door of Uldum, IIRC. By “the other dungeon in SW”, are you referring to the swirly instance-entrance portal thingy in the wall just north of the main gate (which I asked about many many pages ago)?

/cheer

Speaking of faction rep … right now I’m running around the Old World farming meat to level Cooking. (I decided to farm my own. While I was leveling my pally I made all sorts of gold selling Cooking mats on the AH, and I don’t see the sense in now turning around and dumping all that gold back into the AH, essentially buying it all back. Besides, I need to save my gold to buy tailoring crap  ) So while I’m in the Old World I’ve got my “locate low-level quests” finder thing on, so I can grab old quests while I’m farming to put toward the EK/Kal Loremaster achievements.

So I encountered something curious. While in Wetlands I got the quest from a dwarf to go behead a Dark Iron dwarf in the SW Stockade. So I figured, as long as I’m hitting the Stockade, I’ll grab that other “enter the Stockade and lop a guy’s head off” quest that’s offered in Lakeshire, Redridge. Then when I got to the Stockade I grabbed the two quests from the officer there. I trotted down into the instance and slaughtered everything that moved. (In the process I got the Stormwind Stockade achievement, which I thought I already had, because I had previously gone in there on behalf of that Raskova woman in Old Town, and had killed everybody that time as well. Does killing Bazil Thredd only get you the achievement if you actually have the quest to talk to/kill him?) Anyway … once I finished the Stockade I flew back to Lakeshire to hand in the quest there. The questgiver there was of course human, and yet when I handed it in I was awarded rep with Darnassus. Then I went back to Wetlands to hand the other quest in to the dwarf there, and was awarded rep with … Darnassus again.

So that’s got me a bit confused. Okay, I can see not earning rep with SW and IF in this case, since I’m already Exalted with both of them. I would have assumed that I would therefore simply earn no rep (not that I’m complaining). Does the game just automatically switch which capital city you gain the rep with if you’re already Exalted with the “correct” city? I’ll note that I’m Revered with Darnassus, Exodar, and Gnomeregan Exiles, but of the three, my rep with Darnassus is farthest away from Exalted. So it looks like it’s assigning this rep to my lowest-ranked capital city?

Regarding picking up these low-level quests, I’m also a bit puzzled because I seem to be picking up some quests that I’m absolutely positive I’ve already done. Like I was running through Goldshire and spotted a “!” over Marshal Dughan’s head and thought, “WTF? How did I get out of Goldshire way back when, with quests still available here?” So I clicked on him and he gave me “The Collector”. That quest, okay, maybe I did that with my human rogue - she’s my only human toon other than my pally and DK on that server who’s high-level enough to have done it, and I know my DK hasn’t done any of the Goldshire quests. But with the Stockade quests, after I killed Bazil Thredd and turned in that quest, the officer there started me on the chain (or rather picked up the continuing chain) that involves some noble having repeatedly visited Thredd in his cell, and I distinctly remember finishing out that chain (chatting with a gnome, assassinating the noble, etc.) I have no other human toons high-level enough to do that chain other than my DK, and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t him because about all I’ve done with him since finishing the DK starting quests is mine ore.

Farming Raptor Eggs in Wetlands while trying simultaneously to get my Unarmed skill from 399 to 400: there is just something hilariously satisfying about walking up to a freaking dinosaur and slugging it in the jaw. POW! thud <loot> :stuck_out_tongue:
