Oh, awesome! I really wish I’d been around for the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quests and the opening of Ahn’Qiraj. I hope Blizzard has something similar in the works for a future date. I’d love to be part of a realm-wide event that epic.
Say, Did Somebody Order a Knuckle Sandwich?
Finally
Grats!
Okay, WTF happened? I finally “finished” the quest A Hero’s Burden (solo!), choosing to save the Oracle guy, Jaloot. But Artruis actually managed to kill me when I had him down to almost no HP and suddenly none of my spells would go off. I got back as quickly as I could, only to discover that Jaloot had apparently finished off Artruis while I was running back. Artruis’ phylactery was sitting there on the ground with a gray “?” over it, and I was unable to click on the “Complete Quest” button. And, accordingly, the quest still shows as incomplete in my quest log.
Jaloot was sitting there showing green/Friendly to me, and my rep with the Oracles shows as Honored, though I can’t recall if I was already Honored with them before I took on Artruis. Then, eventually, the whole thing reset and now I guess I have to try again
And we did a DM run together!
Couldn’t help him much, but boy, it sure was nice running with him!
Thanks for getting in touch, Shimrod, and give little Ian a big hug from his ol’ unca Quasi/Bill/Wolkie!
Sometimes the sun does shine on a tired old dog’s ass!

If I PASS, is that considered “good etiquette”, and would someone else benefit? I have done that numerous times.
Thanks, IW!
In general, unless there has been some agreement to Pass under some condition there is absolutely no reason to do so. The only people who benefit from you passing are the people who hit Greed, and you have as much right to the vendor gold as they do.
So, unless there are some other agreements in place, there is never ever anything wrong with hitting Greed.
Yep - Mogle beat me to it, Quasi. If you’re hitting greed, it basically means “I don’t need the item itself, but I wouldn’t mind the money.”
Okay, disregard my previous post - that was basically a long-winded “Aaaarrrg!”
But I do have a couple questions about that quest:
Does Artruis cast some kind of silencing spell? After I (lvl 80 ret pally) killed the Frenzyheart mob, Jaloot and I got Artruis down to just a sliver of HP (his HP were low enough that I’d already hit him with Hammer of Wrath once, so he was now probably at 10% or so), and then for no reason that I could figure out, suddenly none of my spells would go off. I tried to hit him with an Exorcism, tried another HoW, tried to cast a Judgment on him, and finally in desperation I tried to cast Healing Touch on myself. Every spell just made that “fail” sound. I wasn’t OOM. I went down, and Artruis’ HP were so low that by the time I ran back Jaloot had finished him off and I couldn’t complete the quest. It was extremely frustrating knowing that all it would have taken to kill Artruis was just one more Exorcism or HoW, but the spells wouldn’t go off.
Also, and I don’t know if this is a bug or what, but while Jaloot and Zepic were attacking me (I targeted and was trying to kill Zepic), my target kept changing. I’d have Zepic targeted, be hitting him with my spells and whacking him with my weapon, and then I’d look up and see that I somehow had Jaloot targeted. So I’d grab my mouse, desperately click on Zepic to re-target him, go back to attacking him, and then once again I’d suddenly find myself attacking Jaloot! This happened 5 or 6 times during the fight. Note that all my attacking was being done with keyboard controls, not the mouse, so I wasn’t accidentally clicking Jaloot. It got extremely frustrating, because every time I had to retarget Zepic, he was back to full HP.
Anyway, it should be a little bit easier when I try again. The last thing I did before I logged out was go to the AH and shell out gold for several major armor upgrades. All blue crafted stuff, primarily four pieces of the Savage Saronite set.

How far are you into First Aid? [/ QUOTE]
jayjay I’m only “journeyman first aid” and according to my trainer, I can’t go any further till I level at 50. I did what you said and got all my linen/wool cloths out of the bank and stood beside her and stuff, but it didn’t make any difference. Everything I could do is redded out.
Thanks
Quasi
… I couldn’t finish the quest (loot Van Cleef’s head), because Wolkie started running in place all of a sudden, and the only way I could stop him was to click the Num Lock button, and that made him not be able to loot, too!
I thought that using the “Character Stuck” button would help, but that sent me back to Heather at the Sentinel Hill Inn.
I opened a ticket for a GM. Do y’all think that he/she will fix this for me and let me complete the quest?
Also, is it possible that someone has hacked me so that this will happen every time?
I wrote the 80 an e-mail, because things happened so fast that I was unable to explain my dilemma before he left.
He didn’t want any payment, but I sent him 10g anyway, along with an apology.

Thanks
Quasi
There has been a slight misunderstanding here I think.
Under the General tab in your Spellbook, you should find the First Aid skill which you can use to make bandages. Right now I would expect that you only know Linen Bandage. Start making those until your skill reaches 40 and then go see the trainer again, make sure you do what jayjay told you and bring all the cloth you have so you can keep skilling from the new stuff the trainer will teach you.
No, if you ever get hacked, the ‘only’ thing that will happen is that the hacker will vendor everything you own and send every last copper to one of his mules.
And possibly use your character to advertise his goldselling service.
If you start autorunning like that again, try tapping the movement key for the direction you are going in a few times (eg, if you’re running forward tap the forward button), it usually helps.
Wow, this thread has sure gotten quiet this weekend … let’s see if I can liven it up:
Wheeee! Shattrath Fishing Daily -> Bag of Fishing Treasures -> Toothy’s Bucket!
And just a few days after getting the Strand Crawler pet from the Dalaran fishing daily ![]()
ETA: Also in the last couple days I’ve had a couple BoP recipes drop: Tasty Cupcake and Bad Clams ![]()
I just haven’t had much to say lately. ![]()
Well, here’s one thing. For the last few levels my Hunter’s been using a Fel Iron Musket. Solid gun, perfectly functional. I was pleased to find the Adamantite Shell Machine on a vendor in Shattrath; for one Adamantite Ore and a few other trivial items, this gives me the best shells in Outland. Awesome, I’m having a good time.
Recently I poked at the Auction House looking for a weapon upgrade, and I found this lovely crossbow for pretty cheap (I got the ‘of the Falcon’ version, which is excellent for my Hunter). The DPS is staggeringly high, which is unsurprising since it looks to be a Northrend item. So, great, at 68 I’ll have a very nice weapon upgrade. Except…I can’t use the Shell Machine. Sure, there’s an arrow equivalent, but the schematic only drops off one mob in Netherstorm! I’ve never been further north than Sylvanaar in Blade’s Edge!
As it happened, I wound up making the journey. Surprisingly safe considering all the enemies wandering along the mountain path. I got the schematic in 5 kills and retreated to Shattrath victorious. Netherstorm is a freaky place, twice the crazy of Hellfire Peninsula.
I also got myself a wolf pet. (I specifically went for the named wolf in Terokkar. I like the coloring and the name.) Now I have a bear for tanking when solo and a wolf for a DPS boost when in a party. The trouble, as I quickly found out, is keeping them both leveled.
It takes a very long time at these levels to keep them up to date, and I’m not really looking forward to switching them out constantly. I may end up simply letting the wolf sit until I hit 80, then leveling him up from 75.
Also, FREAKING GIANT SPIDER
After getting a heads-up from my husband about an article on WoWInsider, my 70s hunter went and tamed herself a Worgen pet. The timing on that was tough!
Short-ish summary: A quest line in Howling Fjord - which you cannot have completed if you want this pet - has an end monster who transforms from a wolf to a Worgen at 50% health. If you manage to time the very end of Tame Beast with his exact transformation time, you get a Worgen pet rather than a wolf pet. (It’s a wolf in stats.)
Speaking of achievements, pet #49 is the tiny crimson whelpling, which I landed after an hour-ish of farming broken up over four days. #50 is the sprite darter hatchling, thanks to an alchemist guildie who whipped up a couple of elixirs of fortitude so I could complete the quest chain. That’s enough to land me “Shop Smart, Shop Pet… Smart” and a free pet, Stinker! #52 will be Pengu, as I’ll hit exalted with the tuskarr tonight.
'at’s not a freaking giant spider. 'AAAT’S a freaking giant spider!
I am now at skill level 53 with my trainer. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
Thanks!
Quasi
My wife’s started running an Uld10 group for the achievements. We’ve got core raider mains, guild non-raiders, and some alts (I’m bringing my pally to this). I’d forgotten how cool some of the fights are (already!) when you haven’t seen them before. Listening to people going down the hall to Mimiron, as they encountered Trash, and then as they saw his different phases (pew pew laser barrage!). I’d forgotten how cool phase 4 is if you haven’t seen it yet.
Some bragging: a couple of weeks ago we 4 manned 10man Flame Leviathan. One Ulduar 25 geared person, 2 Naxx geared people, and a really scrubby alt (average ilvl of the alt was under 200, and IIRC, under 180). Took a couple for tries, but we got him. This week was my wife’s second Uld10 group, and we got Orbit-uary. That fight might be a bit under tuned.
I’ve got to actually finish the rep grinds for my pally. I’m so not look forward to that. I did switch my off-spec to ret, both to help the raid, and to make dealing with dailies a bit better, but still.
And Blizzard didn’t give me the Van Cleef quest (despite the auto-run problem), so I will have to repeat it a third time. I’m beginning to get a complex about this quest, but will remember to tap the direction buttons to see if that will help.
Would he have stopped the auto-run on his own if I had just not done anything at all?
Thanks
