World of Warcraft General Discussion

Pssh, you kids these days. He sure as heck was elite when I did it. Back in my day, we had to fight elites uphill both ways and we LIKED it! Stromgarde built CHARACTER, damn it!

Maybe you need to do what I do …

I use a mod that lets me have as many action bars as I want where I want them.

I have the basic bottom bar, though i generally remove the gryphons. That is my base bar.

attack, grabby hands, the 3 basic rune type attacks, then some of the single mob attacks and the strangle/brain freeze/chains

second bar over that one is my group effects, explody corpse, blood boil and um, cant remember the third offhand, but it effects ae and boneshield

top bar is stuff that is self buff or party buff

In general if I am one on one, I use the bottom bar only, only if I need to effect an area do I need to go up to the middle bar.

I played around with all the attacks to see what all they did and decided which ones I wanted to keep using. Plaguelands is great for that, lots of mobs you can play with in ones and twosies. Just use your combat screen to see what/how much damage and so forth you are managing with different combos.

the 3 bars on the right side of the screen is stuff like potions, munchies, tradeskills, summons and hearth/port

I actually am having a blast with my DK I am soloing all the original instances. I finished BRD, and LBRS today, UBRS is next =)

Since I started playing with the release of Lich King, I barely saw any Elites in Azeroth. Imagine my surprise when I got to Outland and every other quest chain seemed to end in fighting one.

Sorry, I didn’t have any horde characters back then so I never had the pleasure of figthing Frostmaw in the Bad Old Days, had a lot of ‘fun’ in Stromgarde though.

In the old world, it wasn’t limited to a special elite terminating a quest chain, there were quite a few areas where everything was elite, and the special named boss at the end was even more so. I can see why they changed it, the old world is a bit of a ghost town now, but at the same time I miss the social experience it was, grouping up with people on the spur of the moment to tackle something you weren’t sure you could take on. Or, for the truly masochistic types like myself, see how far you could get solo. It made these areas bonding events, shared experiences, whereas now they’re just another generic step in quest X.

I’m surprised they haven’t beaten Outland with the same nerf bat yet, although there might be the thought that the simple health/damage reduction that hit everything across the board is enough. Any level 60+ class is well equipped to handle your average elite anyway, and quite a few can even do the super-elites like Arrazius the Cruel.

Well, the Outland elite quests were more balanced to begin with, if you had to kill an elite you could expect to get some decent reward for doing so.
Most of the vanilla elite quests rewarded a bit of xp and some green vendor trash, so from a practical point of view it simply wasn’t worth the effort of finding a group to do them.

MORE Authentication “lock-ups” and the “natives are getting restless” demanding free time, refunds, etc., on the CS Forum…

If this keps up much longer, I’m afraid that Blizz is going to have to make SOME concessions…

Q

Pretty sure they will eventually, possibly with the next expansion.

Are any of you having log-in issues? From what I read you don’t have this problem if you create a “Battle-Net” account, but I thought I had one already…

Q

Don’t forget about running barefoot up and down STV through the snow.

From now on, I am going to refer to Death Grib as “grabby hands.” I love it!

Blizz is generally pretty responsible about that–if there are issues that keep people from logging on, they’ll credit accounts with extra hours/days.

ETA: Quasi, I’m at work so I can’t tell if I’m having issues yet. You could try checking WoW Insider–they will often have a post up if there are issues affecting a large number of people. And you can tell if you have a Blizz/Battle.net account if you log in with a full email address instead of an account name.

Quasi, just to clarify, when you log in, are you entering an email address as your username, or just a name? Battle.net accounts make you log into WoW using the email address and password that you selected when you set up your Battle.net account.

I’m not having login issues since I attached my WoW account to a battle.net account around the time of the last auth server hiccups, for the record.

(I always thought ‘merge’ was a bad word for what people do with their Battle.net and game accounts, anyway. They should have used ‘attach’ exclusively IMO, which makes it a bit clearer as to which account is the ‘master’ account. /end techwriter nitpick  )

No, it’s just asking me to give it my account name and then below that, the password…

Guess I need to make a battle.net account, huh?

Thanks

Right, but what are you using as your account name? If it’s your email address, then you have a Battle.net account. If it’s just a one-word name, then it’s a Warcraft account only.

DF, all is well. You were right, I had been using my account NAME. I have since merged the NAME with Battle-Net, and I am in the game. THANK YOU!!!

(I was gettin’ twitchy again;))

There is also an AoE snare you can get in the unholy tree, and it’s animation is skeletal arms that reach up out of the ground to hold your prey still long enough for you to hit it with something sharp and/or heavy.

Yeah, but IIRC that’s a passive ability, not something you’d put on an action bar. Still, it’s yet-more grabby hands!

Sorry for not being on lately; been moving from one house to another; maybe a little action tonight, and then…VACATION! Won’t be back until August 1st or 2nd. Gonna go gamble in Reno, visit Crater Lake, Bend Oregon, whitewater raftin’, golfing, drinking beer and getting dirty with the missus. Sooooo looking forward to this.

Enjoy your vacation, YR! If you’re as good gambling as you are playing WoW, send me some money when you “bring down the house”!

BTW: Right with you on the moving:(, but now you get some R&R!

Thanks, SFG!

Are you a Quaker, by any chance?

I appreciate all your help with my WoW playing! You and the rest of the kids are AWESOME, DOOD!
