Even though I’m not PVP, if I enter combat against the Horde, could I accidentally hurt an innocent?
Just needed to know that, because when I got to my “home” and tried to use the Gryphons to fly to the Rebel Camp, I saw that Thor (the flight-master) had been killed, got the “Attack” message and hung around.
I then entered the fray, did what I could, but noticed another player died, and I wondered if it was me that caused that?
After the Horde was killed, I stepped back and got zapped in the back and am now dead.
I wouldn’t say never, I have painful memories of the priests trying to murder me during their class call on Nefarian
But, yes, what Bosstone said is correct , other than a few specific boss fights, there is no way for you to directly harm friendly players.
If someone’s taking down flightmasters, they are waaaay above your current level. There’s little chance you could do any damage to one of them, let alone anything significant. In such a case, it’s better to leave yourself unflagged for PVP (unless you’re on a PVP realm, which I don’t seem to recall is the case). You can make funny gestures at the Horde players if you like, and there’s nothing they can do back to you if you’re not flagged for PVP.
Add-ons can help, ForteWarlock for example gives you bars on your screen that will show the ticks of each DoT and the damage caused and you sort of get used to watching them. I do get what your saying though, it fells less immediate or out of your control maybe. But there really isn’t much more fun than fighting 5-6 humans mobs and they’re all bashing you like crazy then they run at low health and all drop down dead a few yards from you at roughly the same time as that last tick of Curse of Agony (thank you glyph) hits. Mwahahahahahahahaha.
I had a great night with my warlock last night starting at 17% XP in level 41 and ended up 89% level 42. I upgraded my boots (+spellpower and +stam) and my wand (speed 1.8 to 1.4 quite an increase) from quest rewards, raised First Aid to 269 and stocked up on Heavy Mageweave bandages, respecced for the first time to remove a couple of talents not being used and found two gold nodes. 2 and bit hours well spent in Dustwallow Marsh.
At 42 you get Death Coil which looks like a lot of fun, for the fellow warlocks here is this an emergency spell or something I should be looking at using regularly when the cooldown (2 minutes I think) is over?
As a corollary to this you can’t heal an unfriendly either. My paladin is a nice man and would happily heal any horde in trouble that he sees running around but I can’t which is a pity. One of the best ways to turn them from the dark to the light is to help them surely?
The last time I went along on a horde leaders raid, a low-level rogue happened to be in Sylvanas’s chamber when we arrived. He kept running all around the fight repeating some emote over and over and over again, very quickly. This flooded all of our chat windows and made it very difficult for us to communicate to one another! I’m fairly sure it was against the rules (spamming), but I thought it was an awfully clever way to use the game’s interface to fight back against the other faction when you couldn’t do it directly.
1.) On a normal realm, the only way you can attack someone of the opposite faction is if their PvP flag is on. This flag can only be set by them (either manually or by choosing to take an action/enter an area that will flag them). This means they’re “fair game.” (Now, whether or not it’s honorable to always attack these people is another issue. Some people will avoid attacking flagged members of the opposite faction if they clearly aren’t looking for a fight–for instance, a Horde player who comes into Ironforge to get the fishing achievement.)
2.) In normal circumstances, you **cannot ever **damage a friendly player. In PvP, it would be possible for an enemy player to use Mind Control to temporarily take control of your character, but then it would be them using you to attack, not you attacking.
Yeah, this bugs me. If I want to heal/bandage/buff someone of the opposing faction, I should be able to do so, as long as they aren’t flagged.
If he said anything in /say or /yell, right-click the name and “Report Spam.” Otherwise, you can open a ticket to report the player, and put them on ignore.
Wait second, while it’s true that Quake was very popular I don’t think anyone ever considered it a religion, so why does you being an atheist got anything to do with being a Quaker or not?
Or am I missing something?
Quasi asked if I’m a Quaker, presumably because I’m so damned nice. I responded that nope, I’m an atheist, but I think Quakers are cool. Mogle pretended (there’s a ;)) that the only Quaker he could think of was a person that played Quake. I jokingly responded that he left out the oatmeal.
Quite true, but very difficult to do when you’re fighting the Dark Lady and any other hordies who come to defend her. Plus I was impressed by the tactic.
