World of Warcraft General Discussion

Thanks, Y’all!

I figgered that was the way it was!

Headed back to Azeroth!

Q

Well I can’t believe this good luck. I was getting ready to run through Scholomance again, pickup the quest chain there where I left off last time. Since I ran out of bag space last time I sold off or banked all the stuff in my mining bag and equipped another Frostweave Bag in its place. Headed off to Scholomance, and on the way there I discovered a Truesilver node behind Sorrow Hill. I went to mine it, and that’s when I discovered I’d unequipped my mining pick at the same time I unequipped the mining bag :smack:

Oh well, live and learn. So I finished the Scholomance quest (the second one from the old lady, to kill the bat guy whose name I can’t remember), and she gave me the Spectral Essence trinket that “Allows communication with the deceased of Caer Darrow”. That revealed the ghost of a guy who, after a long-winded story, sent me off to Stromgarde to find something. So on my way back to Chillwind Camp to grab a flight to Arathi, there’s that Truesilver node still there, unmined by anybody else while I was in Scholomance. So I figured I’d swing by Ironforge to pick up my mining pick, and then search Stromgarde. Found what I needed there, then it was back to Scholomance, and lo and behold, that Truesilver node was still there. Got to mine it at last

Only got 2 Truesilver Ore out of it, though.

These days it’s slowing down at the toll booth just enough to chuck your toll money into the bin.

Arg, I finished off Stratholme and a bunch of the quests there, and collected all sorts of scourgestones which I redeemed for Valor Tokens … used up all the tokens and came up 193 points short of Exalted with the Argent Dawn

Hopefully this next (last?) quest into Scholomance will give me AD rep.

Mining bag? You routinely carry around more than 20 stacks of ore ? Wouldn’t it be better to just have the Mining bag in your bank and dump the ore there whenever you’re nearby?

I can stick a full bag in the bank? I didn’t know that.

But yeah, with all the different ores I pick up between doing dailies in Dal & Shatt, and trotting around the old world working on my Loremaster stuff, I pick up a lot of different ores, not to mention all those bits of elemental stuff that comes out of mining nodes. I like having them all tidy in one bag instead of spread all over my other bags.

I am level 43 so a 44 elite was too high for me to solo, I had done the previous step (get the scroll fragments in Badlands) with a mage I bumped into but he bailed just before we got to Arathi. I did get her down to about 25% health but by then I had used a potion, lifeblood and a Healthstone. I am going back when I am 46 to try again.

If you mean it the way I think you do, no. But the profession bags can be placed in the normal bank bagslots.

I just found it a bit odd because if I want to fill 20+ slots with mining materials I have to work for it, I don’t think I’ve ever casually picked up that much without passing a bank for some other reason.

And I just realized that you probably don’t use any bag addons, since I started(years ago) using Bagnon I stopped caring about what goes into which bag since it all looks like one big bag to me

You put the full bag into one of the slots you must purchase, not in the bigger upper area that we all start with.

The saronite sets can be used as a “starter set” in PvE, and if you plan to just solo and farm, it’s good enough. It is also good enough to get you started on the instances where you hope to get the “real” gear. The reason there is so much of it in the auction house is people like me. We are leveling our blacksmithing, and as long as someone wants to buy the stuff, we will auction it.

This also ties into the way you can interrupt a flight. If you log off while you’re on a taxi, when you log back in, you will dismount at the next stop in your route. If you accidentally clicked the wrong destination (and it wasn’t a direct flight), this can be a good way to save yourself at least part of the ride. Since you only pay for the portion of the flight you actually take, it saves you a little extra cash.

I don’t know about Hunter abilities, but I can tell you that a lot of Warrior special abilities sound different. (E.g., Devastate has kind of a ksshhh sound.) If you wanted to test it out, you could crank up your SFX and shoot at a training dummy.

Make sure to wander around Caer Darrow. I can’t remember if there’s more than one quest-giver, but I do know that there’s a vendor or two–including one who sells some recipes you can’t get anywhere else.

Personally, I equip profession bags when I’m going out farming. It’s easier when it all automatically goes to the bag you want it in.

I always wondered about those bag addons… Doesn’t it drive you nuts to just have everything mashed in there? How do you **find **anything? Personally, I have my bags organized in a very anal fashion.

I use ArkInventory, which creates one big bag but then lets you create filters to group items.

So, I have one group for vendor trash, one group for BoP weap/armor, one for LW/skinning mats, one for pots/elixirs, one for BoE gear (off-sets), one for ammo, etc… It ends up looking like multiple segments of one large bag and the stuff automatically gets put in the right spot.

You can see some example screenshots here.

Oh, and it has a search bar which helps out when trying to find something.

ETA: I also love the feature where it shows me which characters have what items when I tooltip on them (including banks, alts, alts’ banks, and GBank).

Oooh, Jas09, that looks nice, I haven’t had any filter options(just a search function) for Bagnon since pre-tbc, now I’ve got to try ArkInventory

Edit: And oh, yes, almost forgot SFG, I find stuff by remembering where I put it, and if that doesn’t work I use the search function, wish I could have one of those IRL too

I’ll equip my mining or herb bags when I’m on a farming trip (they’re much bigger than regular bags for the same money). Other than that, I have an alt who’s a combination banker and auction mule. When my old guild fell apart, I kept it for this alt, so he has all my profession bags in his bank, plus a guild bank with two tabs.

Mailboxes are much easier to get to than banks, so when my main characters are out exploring, they just mail all their stuff to the bank alt. Every so often, I log onto the alt, pick up all the accumulated mail, and decide what to keep and what to sell.

It’s handy, because when I start a new character, I have enough cloth and food in the bank to take first aid and cooking all the way up to 300 or so without worrying about the availability of stuff on the AH. I also keep stacks of each character’s favorite buff foods, potions, and so on, and all the hard-to-find mats for my crafters.

Well, you can do that, it’s just that I get bored long before I’ve filled my normal bags with herbs/ore. Besides, with all the teleport hacking farmbots these days it’s not worth the effort to go out and mine :frowning:

Aka ‘It might be useful, I’d better keep it’, this year I realized I had herbs that I had farmed pre-tbc, on a different server

On the other hand, having seen how frigging expensive spider’s silk is (and, hey, 2 great level 19 twink craftables, why not), I am now kicking myself for having vendored mine off on several low to midbies.

Yeah, but there’s no way to create a filter for “stuff that I want to send to my mule,” and “stuff that needs to go to my chanter friend to be DE’d” and “trash item that I want to keep.” :stuck_out_tongue: Plus, I like the clear visual deliniation between bags.

Spider’s Silk is the biggest bitch ever. It’s used in several really important recipes, but it drops off like two things in the entire game, one of which can only be found on a Tuesday that is a prime-number date. (I usually farm mine off the spiders in Arathi, FWIW.)

I send the ore to my bank alt in stacks of 20 at the same time I’m sending her other stuff that I want to auction.

Ah, okay. Unfortunately, my bank is almost completely full, including all the bag slots (and each slot is currently occupied by an 18-slot Imbued Netherweave Bag). I don’t have anywhere to move the other stuff to so that I can fit the Mining Bag in there. Thus the reason I had to sell off all the ore I was carrying before I could replace the mining bag with a Frostweave bag on my person.

But don’t y’all have some blue PvE gear you could make?

Hey, I had to snap a screenshot because this made me chuckle:

Mexicans in Stormwind!

These guys are all in the same guild, matching outfits, matching horses …

Another note: I have a hunter who alternates between guns and bows. You can stick a full ammo bag/quiver into those bank slots, too. (No need to throw out all that ammo.)

Bah. With the recent stack size increase, I don’t even bother with keeping ammo. I never have more than 4000 ammo in my bags, and although I switch from guns to crossbows as opportunity dictates while I’m leveling, I just sell off the excess of the type I no longer need. Aside from the special Engineering ammo, 4000 ammo only costs a few gold. I can make my money back with 15 minutes worth of vendor trash, and that 4000 will last a long time.
