World of Warcraft General Discussion

It’s the other ones, actually. Warriors can use the health potions, which are RED.

Strat’s fun. So’s Scholo. I’ll admit, however, that I’d never been -all- the way through them until recently. One word of warning about the later, though. There are mobs that are immune to magic. As in, completely immune. As in, they’re 20+ levels lower than my mage, but will nickle-and-dime butcher her to death because lord forbid I should be able to hurt or CC them with a spell. grumble

Well, I use some of the stuff for PvE, and so far it’s been “good enough”.

My warrior has the tempered titansteel helm, daunting saronite legs, tempered titansteel boots, titanium shieldwall, titansteel bonecrusher, tempered saronite “something else”. My deathknight has the full savage saronite set and is working on the titansteel destroyer. A spiked titansteel helm may follow. The mage has a titansteel spellblade. It’s all quite good, considering it’s crafted items. It will at least get you started in raids, and some pieces are considered to be “best in slot” until you get to the hardcore endgame stuff. So, it can be worth getting.

You get the best you can get, regardless of the source, knowing you may be able to replace it later. And, some of it looks pretty cool too.

Arrrrgh!:smack: But I gave them the corrrect ones, because it was shortly after you told me that!

Sidebar:

People get upset if you’re just walking or walking on horseback, don’t they?

When they whisper to me, I tell them I take RP seriously and if Silka and I have just been down a long road, I feel like she needs a rest.

They usually don’t reply!

Hell, I’d water her, feed and groom her if the game called for that!

Does it?

I haven’t been back to the stables since I got her.

Thanks,

Q

Well, you’re on a Normal server, rather than a Role-Playing one. That doesn’t mean you’re not supposed to RP, it just means that most people aren’t going to, and some of them will consider it weird. You’re fine…there’s no rule against RPing on a non-RP server, but you’re going to be subjected to people’s opinions about it.

Yeah. Some of them have even laughed at me when they see me bowing to and kissing Heather, but I’ontkeer! (Southern-Speak! :))

BTW, if y’all will tell me a time to be on that Horde server you fight on, I would be there for an invite to the guild!

Thanks

Quasi

I’m “Quasimodem” on that server, and have reached level 2 (I think!)

Q

Really? In Scholomance? I just solo’d that last week with my warlock, and didn’t have any problems…

Except for one room, full of non-elites that I thought I would just gather up and AoE down. Turns out, when you have 20 or 30 non-elites beating on you at once, they can kill you fairly easily. The last one died just before I did. Luckily I had Soulstoned myself, so after a quick eat and drink break, I was back to slaughtering. I should do that again soon, the Runecloth haul was obscene! Not to mention all the stuff I disenchanted.

So I’m working on Netherwing rep currently (about 2/3 through honored on my 3rd day). After about 3 solid hours of attempts (well, combined, between yesterday and today), I was finally able to best Captain Skyshatter for the Skyshattered achievement. Not an easy thing these days, what with riding crops and druid trinkets not working past level 70… Particularly amusing, seeing as the quest reward for beating him is the Skybreaker Whip :dubious:

Now I can devote my time to other pursuits…like farming netherwing eggs.

Fortunately I was on my 80 pally  I really enjoyed Stratholme. I particularly liked the fact that it was an actual city in there, not a mind-bending, logic-defying, twisty-turny nonsensical maze. I’ve always wondered about instances like that - who would actually live in a place where you constantly get lost?

The “Savage” in the name of that particular set really implies “DPS”, which is kind of weird since the stats are more for a tank.

I was walking my draenei mage around SW and IF today, simply because female draenei have such a damn sexy walk :stuck_out_tongue:

I always make a point of bowing when I go to talk to the King or whoever the “head of state” is in the capital I’m in. It just doesn’t seem right to run up to the freakin’ king, snatch the quest reward, and run off again.

It’s pvp gear, the only stats on it that are related to tanking are stamina and strength.
This is tanking gear.

You have a pet, I’m assuming that’s what did it. The skeletons in the basement with Jandice are immune to all magic except Holy.

Boston, Pittsburg, Paris … Maine

Ya cain’t git there from heyah …

Don’t know why, I sure as hell got heah from theyah!

Going from there to the Culling of Stratholme instance in the Caverns of Time is kinda cool. You get to see the ‘before’ picture, so-to-speak. And you get to find out that Athras was a jerk long before the whole lichifying.
(My usual line while listening to his little pre-slaughter dialogue: “He keeps talking, but all I hear is ‘blah blah blah I’m a friggin nutjob’.”)

Feel the same way. I usually /salute. Except to the king of the gnomes. I /silly with him, cos I always feel like him and my gnome are buds.

If you’re curious about Arthas and his descent into nutjob-hood, I recommend reading *Arthas *by Christie Golden. It’s one of the better of the WoW novels, and it does a good job of explaining how Arthas went from an Anakin Skywalker-esque basically good kid with early tendencies toward going bad with the wrong stimuli, to being all-out evil. It’s a good read–my only complaint with it is that things happen too fast (which is kind of necesssary if she’s going to fit everything that needs to be there into 300-something pages). I think it would have been better as a trilogy, so the changes could happen more slowly and subtly.

I’m afraid I’ll bring Quasi down with this tidbit, but I’ll let him get himself into trouble.
Hey Quasi, did you know you can emote almost anything?
type: /e brushes Silka’s mane
and everyone sees, “Wolkie brushes Silka’s mane”, in the same type as the more basic emotes (/wave, /bow, /salute, etc)
The only drawback is you can’t do these emotes to other faction (horde for you) They’ll just see, “Wolkie makes some strange gestures”

Tell you what, I’ll be on my horde tonight from 6-8pm(PT) (Rottingbird or possibly Lightbird) I’ll keep an eye out for you in /sdmb channel (’/join sdmb’) or you can just ‘/w rottingbird’.
BDL numbers are starting to pick back up again so you can ask almost anyone (’/who burning dog’)

Or you can just play the Human campaign in Warcraft III.

And now that I think about it, I think some skeletons behind the locked door nearby (the one you need the key off Rattlegore to open) are similarly immune.

I got my BE paladin to level 66 yesterday, and while I’m still questing away in Outland, I’d levelled my First Aid skill to the maximum possible (375) there. So I figured that I’d hop over to Shattrath, gate to Ogrimar, and take the zeppelin over to Northrend.

Had no idea which zone the Ogrimar zeppelin went to – turned out it was Warsong Hold in the Borean Tundra. This was my first visit (as a Hordie) to Northrend, so Warsong Hold was all-new territory for me.

Well…it took me forever to find the First Aid trainer! I found the trainer for every other single profession, but couldn’t find the First Aid trainer. I was sure there had to be one, because both of the starting areas for the Alliance in Northrend had them, but I just wasn’t having any luck finding the trainer in Warsong Hold.

After 10 minutes or so of running around the keep, I finally caved and checked Wowwiki. It confirmed that (a) there was indeed a First Aid trainer, and (b) had the coordinates. Even with the coordinates I had trouble finding her. Turns out she’s on a little ledge behind the center shaft on an upper level of the keep (along with the Alchemy trainer, oddly enough). At least after all that searching she didn’t tell me I had to be level 70 to learn Grand Master in First Aid.

The good thing was that my searching took long enough that my hearthstone’s timer was up, so I could just hearthstone back to Outland once I’d trained.

And as just a side note, can I say that I am so, so, so very glad that Blizzard got rid of the quest (“Triage”, I think) that you had to complete in order to learn First Aid beyond level 225? I tried that quest over and over and over again, with multiple alts, and never could successfully complete it. People kept saying it was easy to do, but no matter how often I tried, and what tricks I tried using, I always failed. I probably killed more Alliance and Horde troopers while failing that quest than the opposing faction.

I did the exact same thing. That has to be the worst-placed trainer in the game. I really wish the game had a better way of indicating whether the yellow dot was above or below your current position.
