:):) And lemme **tell ** ya: Everything written here is beneficial to me! (well as it *pertains * to me, of course;))
The only things I tend to skip over are those abbreviations y’all use which boggle this demented mind, and when I don’t understand something I *should *, but don’t 'cause sometimes folks don’t realize I’m a bit “challenged”;), such as battling creatures waaaaayyyy lower in rank than me and wondering why I’m not getting any XP.
I’m still surprised I missed the news about a hunter talent point refund – I logged in to 2man MT with a resto shaman guildie and that’s when I found out when I saw BW and Intimidation were missing. Go figure. I went back to check WI to see where the hell it was posted – apparently it was but I must be blind.
That said, I’m discovering that I like 2manning instances because it’s a nice challenge and I get to practice skills I don’t get to use often in other settings since there’s 4 other people to mitigate and make instances just killing anything that moves. (In return, she gets to practice her shaman healing; she’s not up to trying 5mans on yet)
What do y’all think of the Very Interesting conversation that the new NPCs in Thunder Bluff are having?
I know what you mean about ret. I’m still smarting over Exorcism.
Same here. I went to do my dailies on my Hunter, and nearly got my pet killed fighting through a group of sharks. I was completely baffled as to why we were both sucking and I didn’t have my when-pet-is-active buffs going. Only after I managed to kill everything did I realize I had no talents at all.
I realized it right after I logged on. I had logged out with my pet de-summoned and I tried to call him. He’s a worm, and so classified as exotic, so a message appeared that I couldn’t summon him. I checked my talents and sure enough, my points were back and my talents gone.
For my regular combat it isn’t too big a deal, since I really only use Exorcism as my “opening shot” and after that it’s just Judgment of Whatever I’m Using -> Crusader Strike* -> Divine Storm -> Hammer of Wrath -> mob falls down. But it’s gonna kill me (literally) when I’m fighting some big elite.
*Speaking of Crusader Strike, does anybody else think that CS’s sound effect is really lame? I mean, I’m swinging this gigantic Titansteel Destroyer, I hit the key for Crusader Strike, and my pally spins around and there’s this “swish” sound and a big number flashes on my screen. C’mon, Blizz, I want to hear a big, bone-splintering crunch or thump! Some kind of impact! I mean, my “normal” attack makes a definite “thud” or “slice” or “stabby” sound, depending on the weapon I’m using. Why not my “special” attack?
Actually, the warrior’s Heroic Strike has the same problem. Swish!
I’ve been away from the thread for awhile, and haven’t done more than read this page. This is probably a total change of topic, but what the hell -
I bought heirloom shoulders and have been passing them around my leather-wearing alts. I LOVE these! Just LOVE them! It gives a nice boost to leveling speed.
And guess what - they don’t seem to take any damage! Never show damage, and don’t need repair! It’s like permanent press, stand-resistant, rip-stop armor!
I want more heirloom items!
I also wish I could mail them to my alts on other servers, but alas, it seems that is not (yet) possible…
Yeah, and on another subject (but related, kinda) that Soulbound restriction really frosts my balls! Can’t mail 'em, can’t send 'em, can’t give 'em away… all you can do is sell them to a vendor, like a pawn shop item.
Get to know who the crafters are in your guild. You shouldn’t have to pay 5G for those.
Last Christmas season, my Alliance tailor was making the red winter clothes and selling them for 25 gold on the Alliance AH. I was also transferring them to my Horde bank (via the neutral AH) and selling them on the Horde AH for 40-50 gold.
However, I made a set free for any guildie that asked for them and gave me the mats.
That’s what guilds are for. That’s what good guildies do.
I have a feeling you would like the alternatives even less. You have to have a mechanism that removes items from the game, because not doing so would be very bad for the ingame economy since the gear market would be completely flooded with stuff. The alternative to the Soulbound mechanic is to have items break, permanently. With Soulbound, once you’ve aquired an item you are at least guaranteed to get to keep it until you choose to get rid of it.
Well, I am my own guild (vanity guild: Order of the Rik), but nevertheless I now feel a bit silly. Because my main is a tailor :smack:
However, my excuse is that I first started playing the game right in the middle of last Winter Veil, and at that time the professions I’d taken for my main were Enchanting and Blacksmithing (I clearly didn’t know what I was doing yet :D). I saw people running around in the Winter Clothes and just assumed they’d bought them from a holiday vendor, but I was unable to locate the appropriate vendor myself. I also didn’t know what “patterns” were yet, so it wouldn’t have occurred to me to buy the pattern from a vendor had I seen it. I remember I also considered the possibility that the people I saw in the winter clothes had been “transformed” by one of those goblins with the machines. I’d stepped into that machine myself and got changed into a gnome in winter clothes, and lacking experience with the game I figured the race transformation was random (I know better now, of course). I also didn’t yet know about WowWiki, WowHead, etc., so looking it up didn’t occur to me.
Oh well, now that I know, I guess I can find the pattern for myself next Winter Veil and make up the “lost” gold (though at this point I don’t worry too much about tossing 50g around) selling the things
So, for some reason right after the bit patch day, the losers of Wintergrasp weren’t getting any marks of honor. It wasn’t a huge issue, since I only participated in two battles, and wasn’t going to get too bent up over two marks of honor. I opened a ticket with a GM just to let them know about the issue, not necessarily expecting any marks.
Then I checked my in game mail, and to my surprise included were 10 marks of honor! Along with a note that apologized for the inconvenience and the long wait time (but really, who doesn’t expect long waits for that right after a major patch is released), and basically telling me “Don’t expect this all the time, this is just in good faith.”
Now I can get that trinket I’ve had my eye on… just as soon a we pry the fortress from those grubby Allies!
Lately I’ve been trying to spend as little time in Dalaran as possible, simply because of the insane lag caused by the huge number of players there. But all those people have got me wondering … what are they all doing? Every time I’m in Dalaran, I see bunches and bunches of toons just … standing around, apparently doing nothing at all beyond contributing to the lag. Many of them just stand in one place for very long periods of time. It’s as if people just log in and then go AFK.
For example, I mentioned a while back my amusement at frequently finding female gnomes in their underwear “sunbathing” on the steps of the bank. I finally noticed it was the same toon every time. And that she’s always in exactly the same spot. And she’s always AFK. It’s as if this lvl 80 toon exists for no other reason than to lie there on the bank steps in her underwear.
But it’s not just her - it’s all over Dalaran, people just standing there for a long time, doing nothing. Are they all just waiting for the next Wintergrasp battle to start, or something? It’s getting really annoying not being able to move around there without jerking all over the place every time I change direction, or trying to make a slight turn and getting a lag spike and finding myself going completely the wrong direction.
Account bound. I once found a BoP pattern world drop that one of my alts could use. I couldn’t even vendor it as it was worth 0. My Jewelcrafter is missing only one pattern for her skill level and that was it*. Grrrr.
Also I would love to be able to disenchant all the stuff I’m finished with.
*it never even occurred to me to contact a GM about getting it switched. Too late now as I trashed it ages ago.
Not really, since that would allow everyone with a high level character to farm gear for their alts by soloing low level instances, and lets not forget the huge can of worms called ‘I Need it for my alt’.
Question: Tonight aruvqan taught me to how to uncheck the graphic so I don’t have to look at Wolkie in his helmet with the upside-down horns, but how do my enemies see him, or anyone else I may meet, for that matter?
