World of Warcraft General Discussion

You’re going to want a flying mount for a lot of the late game Lich King stuff. Of course, you’ll have to learn cold weather flying (1000 gold) for that. I’d get the basic flyer and save your money for the cold weather flight after that. You can worry about epic flight after you’ve hit 80

Boy, have I found an easy money trick if you’re a tailor.

  1. Buy netherweave cloth on the AH.

  2. Sew it into bolts, then sew those into bags.

  3. Profit!

The cloth is invariably available at buyout price for 4 gold, and sometimes as little as 3. One stack makes a bag. The bags sell for 7-8 gold and there appears to be an insatiable demand for them; I’m selling as many in a day as I can find cheap cloth for. I’ve sold HUNDREDS this week. They usually sell in under a couple of hours.

I’ve made a thousand gold, and it takes no effort. In Stormwind you can do this without ever leaving the central square in the Trade District; buy the cloth on the AH, walk to the mailbox, walk back. Walk to the trade goods store to buy rune thread if need be. It’s an absolute slam-dunk moneymaker. Feel free to copy it but not on Shadow Council, I got dibs here.

In Storm Peaks there’s a goblin at K3 that will actually give you a flier if you don’t have the mount but have the skill simply because it’s so important to have there.

Silly idea. You’ve spent 800 on mount training and 1000 on cold weather flying but haven’t put together 100 for a flyer? Since it’s actually become a necessity instead of a formerly capped level 70 indulgence, they should lower the price a bit.

I discovered why I couldn’t train my Expert riding skill for a flying mount. Apparently, Druids get it for free when they receive their flight-form training from a Druid Trainer. The 5000G for Artisan riding will still be required for me to get swift flight form though.

So now a small part of me wants to pay for the gold so I get my swift flight form now (just hit 71). But I know that doing so is against the terms of service plus I can’t use it in Northrend till 77 anyways. Still, I love flight form. I actually dislike Northrend right now precisely because I can’t fly here till 77.

As an aside, I’d like to get to Exalted with Gnomeregan (it’s the only mount other than my racial that I want). At my level, what’s the fastest/best way to do so?

How is it a ToS violation? The ability to do so at 71 is in the official 3.0.3 patch notes.

Palooka, I think what JayRx means is buying gold from a third (real-life) party and having it mailed to him in-game without earning it in-game.

I may have to check that out, just for curiosity. Is it a gryphon (alliance), windrider (horde), or something different looking?

First of all, it’s not given, it’s loaned (I don’t know if that means it can’t be used outside of Storm Peaks or not, though). And it is a gryphon/wyvern depending on your faction.

Apparently it can only be used in Storm Peaks, Icecrown, and Sholazar Basin. And it’s only 60% speed, so it’s sloooooow. But still, it’s a flyer.

I never even knew about this! I guess you learn something new every day in this game.

OK, since I already have my cold weather flying and flying mount, it’s of no use to me.

Yeah, I completely skipped over a few important words when I read it. Thanks for mentioning that part again. Makes much more sense.

Buy gold is wrong.

Well shoot. My guild leader on Lightbringer has been absent for a 2-3 weeks due to financial difficulties, and it appears that in her absence the guild has disintegrated :frowning:

Whatever happened must have happened Saturday. On both Friday and Saturday I was playing my human DK, and I kept trying to “whois” on the guild to find somebody to send my DK a guild invite, but I was having trouble finding anybody on (very unusual). So Sunday I logged in my paladin (my main toon in the guild), and her tabard was gray. At first I thought I must have been booted for some unexplained reason, but then I whispered one of my former guild mates and his name came up with a different guild name. He said that with the guild leader away, he and a couple others had formed a new raiding guild. When I couldn’t find anybody else in the old guild on, I came to the conclusion that the guild was dead. Bummer.

I’m left wondering what became of the guild bank.

What’s extra depressing is that there was nobody to say “Grats!” today when I fished from some Steam Pump Flotsam and earned [The Scavenger] :frowning:

Yeah, sorry if I was unclear about that.

I’m not going to buy gold with real life dollars. One because it’s a TOS violation and I rather like having a non-banned account. Two because there’s no guarantee that if I fork over real money for fake money that I’ll get said fake money since it’s not, strictly speaking, legitimate business. And Three because I’m not gonna aid or abet the sweatshops that most of those gold-farming operations are.

But still, I’m not looking forward to getting that remaining 4000G. shudder

I dinged 37 last night on my pally so one step closer to plate - for all the pallys here how did you go about your upgrade to plate? AH or quests? Both?

Finish out your loremaster requirements from Northrend and Outland should get you close, dailes and selling the drops you get while questing should finish you out. Even faster if you do your level 80 dailies as well (I made something like 800g leveling my pally last night (= )

The real question is can I get my pally to 80 before the alt runs on Saturday?

A little of both. I bought what I could that was reasonably priced at the AH, but at 40 there’s actually very little. I gradually outfitted myself over the next 20 levels by drops, quest rewards, and occasionally poking at the AH. Don’t expect to convert to plate entirely right at 40.

Thanks, a tad dissapointing I wont be in full plate at 40 but something else to aim for I guess.

*disappointing

Oh, I’m only level 71 at present. Long way to go till I hit 80. I just wanted to get my swift flight form to make it easier to go back at 72/73 and finish Outland (still need to do Blade’s Edge Mountains, Netherstorm, and Silvermoon valley).
