World of Warcraft General Discussion

OMG Quasi. You don’t play one handed do you?

Huhm. May have to try this method. Thank you Darwin.

I’m no Darwin, I’m just his finch

Another helpful hint: all too frequently, the opponents will decide they’d rather fight outside of the ring, which is usually a pain, both because of the large number of obstacles and because of the possibility of resetting if you venture too far out of bounds. Thus, I like to start backing towards the center of the ring when things get too close to the edge. As often as not, you’ll be able to throw in an extra shield breaker while doing so. If the AI is feeling particularly dumb, you might even be able to back up to charge range, at which you can just charge them.

No sane person does. My main objections have to do with (a) vehicle mechanics, i.e., that I can’t do a straight 180 turn but rather have to take the time to loop around, and (b) inequal opponent abilities, e.g., some AI jousters can do things I can’t, like break my shields at melee range.

I skip all of the jousting dailies except for Battle before the Citadel, which I do with at least one other person. AFAIK, this is the only jousting quest where two people get credit for the same kill. The ones you do at the Tournament grounds won’t even let another jouster attack the target while mounted.

Side note: for the other jousting quests and dailies, others **can **attack your target from the ground. So if you’re having a really terrible time, try bringing some friends with you to hammer on the jouster you’re trying to kill.

I think multiples get credit for the baby Battle Before the Citadel quest - the one that’s part of the qualify-for-valiant daily package.

So… exactly what I just said in the post above you, to which you are presumably responding?

No I mean the one where you have to kill 3 lieutenants, 15 soldiers and 10 scouts or whatever, not the one where you kill 3 commanders.

Sorry, I thought it was clear that I was referring to both quests called Battle before the Citadel, which are the only two jousting quests that take place off the Tournament grounds, since I did not specify which of them I was talking about, and I did offer the contrast that the ones where you can’t share kills take place on the Tournament grounds.

All day long I have felt soooo rotten because of something I allowed to happen last night while playing, and I came here to apologize to SFG and to Everyone who has been so helpful to me.

My friend SFG spent part of her weekend setting Wolkie’s talent tree up for Fury, but because my sorry ass can’t say no to anyone, I’m afraid I might have hurt her (and y’all’s) feelings by what I’m about to tell you.

As you all know, I have an in-game guru, who has been sooo nice and helpful helping me with instances and grouping with me to help me level, and he felt he needed to set me up for protection, and I’m afraid I wimped out and we did that.

I have already PM’D SFG to explain and asked her for forgiveness and now I’m asking it of all of you.

I have no excuse other than I don’t like to hurt anyone’s feelings and I like to be appreciative of ALL that y’all and anyone does for me, because I need all the help I can get playing WoW.

I love you kids so much and this place is very important to me, and I feel like I have hurt my friend and all my friends here.

I hope you accept my apology, and as I wrote SFG, I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t.

Quasi/Wolkie and Silka

Ah. I thought the baby one had a different name.

Quasi, I don’t think anyone will take it personally, so you don’t have to feel bad. But I think Protection is an interesting choice if you do most of your questing by yourself, soloing. Most Protection builds are used to “tank” as part of a group in a dungeon, because you can take a beating and have a lot of skills that allow you to take and hold aggro.

Taking and holding aggro are not a problem when you solo. And being able to take a beating is nice, but it also means you do less damage and it takes a lot longer to kill things than it would with an Arms or Fury spec.

But don’t feel bad… try Prot for a while and see how you like it. You can always change again later (for gold, of course!). I have a Paladin who is specced Protection and I love it – but he pretty much does nothing but group instances.

No worries, Quasi–you’ve got nothing to apologize for! And if it comes down to taking the option given by the people you talk to versus the person who actually plays with you… IMO it makes more sense to do the one that the person you play with wants!

I actually leveled all the way from my first point at level 10 as Prot, mostly because tanking is what I wanted to do and I’m a stubborn bitch that way. (My main was never, ever Arms or Fury until the dual spec system went live, although she did put together a DPS set to make dailies faster once she hit 70, and to make her a more useful offtank.) Prot is actually a **lot **more viable as a leveling spec now. You’ll still kill things faster as Arms or Fury, but it’s not a huge difference, and you get a lot of survivability in return.

Hey, sounds fine to me. Of course my priest leveled as Holy, so I know from killing things slowly

Thanks, kids. As I wrote SFG, WoW is MORE than just a game to me: It’s saving my mental life, and so, indirectly, are y’all!

Know what else? I don’t know how I did it, but somehow I wound up spending 1K of that ill-begotten Gold!

Down to 536 now!

Thanks

Awww, dang. I’m stuck on the “Authenticating” window when logging in…what do I need to do (download something?) to resolve this issue?

It’s a problem on Blizzard’s end. It can theoretically be solved by merging your WoW account with your Battle.net account, since only non-Battle.net accounts are getting hit. I tried to set up a Battle.net account but had issues, and by the time I realized Battle.net wasn’t working properly I was able to get into WoW. So just give it some time and Blizzard should have the issue fixed.

Who helped me with some quests last night!

I left abruptly because I took a tumble down the stairs carrying a basket of clothes and had to go to ER!

I’m sorry, Hon!

I tried to combine it with a bio-break, and I know you must have wondered about how long it takes a guy to get off the terlet!

Looks like I cain’t win fer losin’, Kiddos!

Quasi/Wolkie&Silka (who must be wondering where her daddy went!)

EEK!

Hope nothing got broken … I had dinner with mrAru and snuggled in bed while watching him play eve online until I fell asleep … the neurotin seems to be helping, the RLS was vastly lessened after 2 days[3xday]

Quasi would love to get his character invited in … but whenever he is in game, nobody else is in game to invite him … if you make Sonnenstrahl able to invite him, we can get him into the guild…I think he would benefit greatly by moving his play over to Cairne because we understand his limitations …

What time do you guys play? I was on for several hours Monday night and a little last night and didn’t see either of you…

In any case, I’ll be on from about 8 till 10:30 or 11 server time. If I don’t see you I’ll try to remember to promote Sonnenstrahl to be able to /ginvite.

Speaking of the Burning Dogs, it’s Wednesday night which is Alt Dungeon Night! Tonight we venture back into the dark, wet confines of the Sunken Temple of Atal’Hakkar. Many Trolls and Dragonkin will meet their demise this day, I promise you. And with luck I’ll get that nice new shield.

If you have a Hordie on Cairne in the right level range (46 - 50s) come join us! We’ll try to get started around 8:45 server time/Central time.
