World of Warcraft General Discussion

Whew!

It took a while, and I spent most of today anxiously watching my auctions trickle in one by one (I guess with the holiday weekend not many people were online), but I finally hit 1000 gold. Considering my Druid at 44 is the highest level character I have on Cairne, I think that’s pretty darn good.

Of course, I lost all that money immediately afterward when I bought my shiny new dual spec. First character of mine to have one, too. I’ve been healing 5-man dungeon teams in Feral spec and doing all right with that, but I feel so much better now that I’ve got the talent tree without giving up my beautiful leveling Cat form.

Thank Elune I don’t have to spend 600 gold on flying at 60. :smack:

Hey. Couldn’t find my way there tonight, but will try again later. I can do some grinding over near Tanaris, though!

Need some help with some stuff that is appearing as zero’s on my action bar, though (healing potions and such?) How do I get RID of that?

Also with items that begin a quest I haven’t even signed up for?

And I have a dragon “patch” that no vendor wants?

Thanks!

Quasi

To get rid of it, just drag the icon from the bar to the middle of your screen and let go of the mouse button. It’ll vanish.

If you right-click on the item, it’ll give you a quest.

Can’t help you here, though.

Thank you, Sir!

And I will continue saluting and bowing to higher levels!

Never know when you might meet a “friend”.

Also how can you “whisper” to someone after adding the /whisper?

I always screw that up and find it easier to add them as a FRIEND and THEN whisper.

Some folks don’t WANT to be friends…

Thanks

Q

Just type /whisper, space, then the name, space, then whatever you want to say.

For example, ‘/whisper bosstone Hi!’

You can also shorten it to /w, so ‘/w bosstone Hi!’

And if their name appears in your chat window, Whisper is one of the right-click options.

WITH the apostrophe, Bossy?

Thanks

Q

Sorry! I guess y’all didn’t realize how DUMB I just got, huh?

No apostrophe, Quasi - just /w bosstone Hi!

By the way, if you just can’t find that path into Hinterlands, you can take the long way. In Arathi highlands, go south to the river and jump in. Then swim west down the river to the sea. Then turn north up the coast until you get to the Horde village in Hinterlands, which is right on the coast. It takes longer than the path, but you avoid all the higher level mobs in Hinterlands and you can pick up the flightpath in the village right away.

It helps a lot if you have, or buy, a water walking potion. That way you can literally ride your mount down the river and up the coast. I think those are pretty cheap on the AH.

Um… that would work great, except I think Quasi might be Alliance, in which case he won’t get the FP in Revantusk. For Alliance, their base is closer to the gryphon-guarded pass.

I was playing my blood elf warlock and ended up grouping with two other blood elves–a warlock a few levels below me and a hunter a little lower than the warlock. The other warlock and I were waiting for the hunter to finish his training in Silvermoon and come back, so we entertained the folks in Tranquillien with some dancing. It was a sight to see, if you like that sort of thing. No, we weren’t naked. Being fastidious blood elves, we kept our shoes on so our feet wouldn’t get dirty.

nevermind

Herbalism makes more money than mining and panhandling makes more money than skinning.

To make money you have to be selling stuff to level 80’s (they’re the ones with the money) who are doing end game content.

There is almost nothing a skinner can get that a level 80 needs on anything near a regular basis (the bottleneck for high level leatherworking is the runed or crusader orbs not the skins).

Mining has a couple of cooldowns that they can make some money with but the cooldown limits you to making it once a day and there is little that you can make with titanium bars (other than engineering stuff) that doesn’t become trivial after you go to Naxx 25. Also you don’t get a lot of repeaty business.

Herbalism lets you harvest frost lotus. One frost lotus cam make two flaks. flasks give you really good potion buffs for an hour that don’t disappear when you die. They are pretty much mandatory for any serious raider. So the typical raider will burn through at least 2 flasks every night (more likely 3 or 4). EVERY raid night.

I’ve currently got an orc DK going on Cairne. I’m kind of doing something silly, though…I’m running old world for explorer, ambassador and loremaster before I take her heavy leveling in Outland (although I did do a little bit of Hellfire to get her to 60 first).

I had a run-in with a belf in Hillsbrad (“Why r u killing farmers at ur lvl?”) because I was collecting Hillsbrad skulls for “Souvenirs of Death” and killing the farmers he was collecting for that first Battle of Hillsbrad quest. I accidentally killed Farmer Getz (went into the barn sword blazing and hit him before I realized who he was) and explained to the belf that I wasn’t griefing…it was an accident. Seemed to mollify him.

I might ask for a /ginvite eventually. I’m awfully boring, though…I can’t seem to pay attention to guild chat when I’m questing, so I’m pretty much barely there.

GRATZ. Now start saving up for your epic flying skill (it costs 5K atm but there are some rumors taht they will make this cheaper somehow).

It already is sort of cheaper, since it’s affected by reputation now. Course, that only kicks it down to 4k at most, but that’s something.

I’m revered with Valiance Expedition already, so when I finally get all my money together, I’m going to drop by Valiance Keep to train. I should be exalted by that point, the way I’m going. I’m looking to see if I can get a free fast flyer somehow, though. It would save me a little cash, at any rate.

I finally won at jousting this weekend. Now I have to do it some more…sigh.

ETA: well, the only free fast flyers I see are ones I am definitely not going to be able to get. Oh, well.

The easiest one is probably either the Bronze Drake from a timed Heroic: Culling of Stratholme run or the Dragonhawk purchased for 150 Champion Seals after you have the Crusader title (there might be another fast flyer available from the quartermasters in the valiant tent as well - a hippogryph perhaps).

The first is pretty easy if you get a strong group - and if they all have the drake already then you won’t even need to win a roll. Should be easy to find on a day where CoS is the heroic daily (since even hardcore raiders are running it for the emblems).

The second is just a matter of grinding dailies for a long long time. But the Dragonhawk is completely bad-ass and totally worth it.

Greetins folks.

I’ve been busy lately, so I have not been checking in here very much. All my toons (I think) are now revered with Hodir, and I have three toons that recently hit Champion at Argent Tourney… Figmo of Orgrimmar, Dotbot of Silvermoon, and MooTseTung (used to be Odorbank) of Thunder Bluff. I’ve also been doing quite a bit of regular ToC, getting armor upgrades for various toons. Of course, the warrior Steelhand seems to be in greatest demand - everyone is always looking for a tank. I’ve even been helping a guildy moonkin to two-man Threat From Above… it’s a hectic fight with just two of us, but big fun. I think once Steel is set up, I will switch to the feral druid (another tanker) and get him upgraded.

I had fun this weekend–finally got a chance to get some tanking practice in after spending a lot of time in places like Stratholme working on my single-target and AoE tank rotations (it’s hard to practice tanking on your own!) It’s probably sort of cheating, but I picked up a Logitech G19 keyboard with a bunch of extra macro keys on one side, and macroed my two rotations to those keys, so I can switch easily between the two. It helped immensely. I got a group of brave guildies together and we did almost every heroic except Oculus (which we all hate), and I got a passel of badges (T8.5 helm and chestpiece woo!) and a lot of very valuable experience. I’m now pretty confident in my tanking abilities, and I definitely have the bug!

BTW, for you experienced tanks out there–is there an addon that will easily tell you who in the party has aggro on something in a big AoE pull? I’ve got XPerl, but I’m usually so busy looking at other areas of my screen that I don’t tend to look there to see if anybody’s name has lit up red. I’d rather have something that displays it in the middle of the screen. I’m futzing around with Grid, but so far I haven’t gotten it to do what I want it to do (which is show each person’s name and light them up red when they have threat, so I can click them and use my taunt macro). Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
