Well done! My vote goes to Defilers. Do you only get rep for turn-ins, or do you also get rep from capturing locations, winning games, etc.?
Super-grats! I slacked off on a handful of early achievements 'cause I hadn’t noticed the meta reward, so I’m stuck waiting for Winter Veil. (It’ll be a nice Christmas present, though.)
I will happily trade you a simple daily for an excruciating rep grind to Exalted.
Gartz!!! I don’t have the patience or the time for that. Maybe when they institute old world flying.
Koralon is significantly HARDER than any of the other guys. He hits harder and he has some mean abilities but the most fatal ability is his ability to put a fire under your feet. Its amazing how people have gotten this far in the game without learning to move when a fire erupts around your feet but there you have it. It is a high DPS fire so unless a healer is focusing on you, you are going to die in 3 or 4 seconds. I Pugged VOA last week and on our first wipe, I parsed how many people died to fire and it was about a third of the raid (Koralon throws out a lot of fires). It was ridiculous, but to be fair, most fires won’t kill you in 3 or 4 seconds.
The loot is great (tier 9 and tier 8 stuff (as well as the PVP equivalent) and drops a lot of pieces) In the end, VOA has some of the best drops/effort expended.

That’s not so bad, at least you got an ilvl 200 item for your ranged slot, before patch 3.2 us feral tanks didn’t get a replacement for our level 70 Idol of Terror until 25-man General Vezax.
Generally I wouldn’t have the patience for it either, but I’ve got to have World Explorer before Cataclysm hits, if only for the bragging rights. It’s a lot easier these days with the early-level mounts; I’ve been picking up the exploration achievements quickly while leveling, and I’ll go back to get the Alliance lands when I can safely stealth past guards. It also helps that each zone achievement now has a checklist, so you know what you still need to get.
It’s basically just resource-based. You get 10 rep for every 160 resources you capture, for a max of 100 rep per game (i.e., if your side wins). On holiday weekends, it’s 10 rep for every 150 resources, yielding 130 per win (I think you get like 20 bonus rep for winning on a holiday weekend). If I won every game I entered, I’d need 375 games or so, not counting holiday bonuses.
There aren’t any rep turn-ins for AB anymore, unfortunately.
Well, I’m also trying to get Ambassador, too, which works concurrently with Loremaster. It’s going much more quickly than it would if I were doing the majority of the quests at-level, but it’s still a sort of grind. I’ve managed to snag Exalted with Org and Undercity so far. TB is close, and Darkspear aren’t far behind, but I’m going to have to BURN cloth to get Silvermoon rep, since their secondary zone doesn’t give rep for them, but for Tranquilien (which is pretty useless at 62…they’ve got nothing in their quartermaster stores that make doing that zone at all worthwhile for anything but Loremaster points).
Some of the Ghostlands quests give you Silvermoon rep. (I think pretty much all of the ones given out at the camp just south of the lake in the northeast, and probably some of the others).
Are you exalted with any of the subfactions yet? Your “excess” rep for already-Exalted subfactions gets divided between any non-Exalted subfactions you have left. F’rinstance, I hit Exalted with Org before I did the demon-killing quests from that outpost above the Kodo Graveyard in Desolace. Normally the rep is Orgrimmar, but when I handed them in, I got “Reputation with Horde increases by X”, and it was applied to all the other factions.
I’ve only done the starting zone quests for Silvermoon but I’m 8000 into Revered for the faction rep because of overflow.
I’ve also been grinding towards Ambassador with my 80 DK; the tourney dailies help a lot with that. I’m exalted with Silvermoon thanks to some noob zone questing, a bunch of runecloth turn-ins, and a whole lot of rep items from Tourney dailies; I need about 7k for exalted with Undercity, which I expect to get most of by finishing off the Tarren Mill quests, and am just barely revered with Org, TB, and the trolls. Doing all the Tauren/Orc/Troll rep quests is going to be annoying, as I can’t just zap back through my death gate and hop on a griffin to get there while keeping my hearth set to the Tourney.
With some exceptions, you nearly always get overflow at 1/4 the primary rep. 500 Orgrimmar gets you 125 Darkspear, Undercity, Thunder Bluff, and Silvermoon, even when you’re not at Exalted. So yeah, all Horde (or Alliance) factions will grow over time as you turn in quests, but without many primary quests you’d expect Silvermoon to be much, much slower than the others. As it is, I’m at 13606 Revered with Org and 4383 Revered with Silvermoon.
1071 Revered with Undercity…I bet if I went through and did Tirisfal Glades and Silverpine now, I’d hit Exalted pretty quick with them. Might do that tonight.
Tranquillien rep seems to only be useful at early levels. I did find it to be very useful, though. My warlock went there as soon as she could and is currently wearing the cloak from there. She’s also worn the Apothecary’s pieces and the Apprentice Boots some levels ago.
Boss: You’ll probably need to do at least some of Tarren Mill, even if you solo SFK in the process. But the Silverpine quests are kind of fun.
I think the initial noob zone quests don’t give overflow rep; at least I was stuck on 19,600 or so Silvermoon as I was running through Tirisfal, only to get the last 1,400 over the course of doing the Silverpine quests.
Here I am stuck with the Blessed Book of Nagrand (lvl 103) falsely assuming that I wasn’t gonna get superior/epic ranged for the achievement, but now I’m gonna shoot for Libram of Valiance…a must for Ret pallies. I just need a few more Emblems of Triumph. I’m gonna have to hit up a few of you guys to hit some heroic dailies with me.
Quick Question: Does the reputation for the Sons of Hordir start at “Hated”? I did Thorim’s first quest (killing 5 Frost Giants and a boss, I think) and got 22000 rep for the quest which means I’m the hatee, and I have a long way to go to get to exalted. Correct?
Don’t worry, you quickly get another buncha thousands of rep to get to neutral.
ETA: Quickly, as in, in another quest or two in the same chain.
ETA^2 - you should have gotten some kind of quest item that dropped off of one of the giants, or one of the firey dudes nearby, or something like that - I think it’s that quest that gets you to neutral.
I’m not worried about anything that requires a lot from our healers and our tanks–just mechanics that require every one of our DPS to sit up and pay attention. Fortunately, their biggest weakness tends to be target switching… possibly because there’s hardly a fight that goes by these days that doesn’t involve something fatal-to-stand-in.
That seems off to me. There weren’t **any **quest rewards, Heroic drops, badge items, or Naxx/OS/Maly drops? I can’t check Wowhead from work, so I’ll take your word for it.
I wasn’t talking about a capital city rep grind–I was talking about the Wintersaber Trainer rep, which is what the Alliance needs to do for the mount that the Ravasaur is supposed to be the equivalent of. Capital cities you can do quests for, turn in cloth, etc. For the Wintersaber mount… it’s one big grind of repeatable quests, with quest-specific drops that you can only collect on quest’s worth of at a time.
Don’t forget that there’s a portal between Sholazar and Ungoro–depending on where you are at the time, that might be faster. (Assuming you’ve done that quest chain, anyway–I think you have to unlock it.)
