World of Warcraft General Discussion

Yep, once you open it up in that quest chain, you can continue to use the portal anytime.

No way man, no way. Silverpine is the Horde’s Darkshore :stuck_out_tongue:
Let’s see … did I already mention that as of last night, my human pally is Exalted with the Kirin Tor, which happens to also be my tenth Exalted faction? Or did I only mention that I was about to reach that status?
Over on Cairne, my belf pally should hit lvl 50 tonight

Christ!

Why do I suddenly seem like the “old family uncle with bad breath”?

I miss playing (for better or worse)!

I just feel “stuck” down here In PCB, Florida, with no way to play except to communicate here with mah kiddos!

Hell, I’d much rather be at home with my cat “Bert” on my lap, fighting “slimy-murkies”!

Love,

Q

Hey, great! If you decide to complete the level 50 pally quest chain (which yields a fairly nice undead-fighting trinket), our next Burning Dog Legion instance run is going to be Sunken Temple (where that chain ends). Normally that would be tomorrow night, but due to family events we have to postpone it until either this weekend, or next Wednesday. My pally needs to do the same quest.

Is that the chain that starts with the pally trainer in SM sending me to talk to somebody at The Bulwark? Cuz I just picked that one up. Bummer about the postponement - tomorrow would have worked well for me. OTOH, I strangely enough have both Saturday and Sunday off this week, so that would work too. Can’t speak to next Wednesday, though, as my work schedule changes from week to week.

That’s it. From the Bulwark, you have to go collect a bunch of Minion’s Scourgestones in WPL. (Note: you must wear the Argent trinket you’re given in order for the sourgestones to drop.) Then you get the quest that sends you to Sunken Temple.

I’m thinking we’ll do ST Saturday night, but I’m waiting to hear back from our normal healer (Mordrin).

And 80G. They don’t mention that part at first.

Ah. I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to make that run. Bummer; I wanted to get that chain quest advanced.

Let me ask another obnoxious question:

I have a Belf Pally. I’d like to do the questline Feat of Strength for the Epic Mount. Which is no longer nearly so epic, but whatever. Can I get access to this quest at 40 now, or do I still have to wait until 60? The only issue here is that several online info sites contradict each other. And sometimes themselves.

I have to admit… it just might not be worth it to bother with the quest chain if it means waiting another 20 levels.

:frowning:

I mean, I have it…I’ve been putting anything BoE higher than white on the AH and I have a little over 500g at this point (remember, I’ve done about 1/4 of the Hellfire Peninsula quests so far, period, in Outland). It just means that my flyer countdown extends by about a week.

Pretty sure it’s still level 60. Both Alliance and Horde versions involve going into Stratholme and other level 60 instances. They would have to substantially rework the quests in order to make them even remotely accessible at 40, and I’m pretty sure Blizzard considers the quest chains legacy content that’s not worth messing with right now.

General Vezax: one-shot kill. Wow, that fight was laughably easier than I was expecting. We had a pretty melee-heavy group, so we had our two ranged DPS and our two trees standing out of melee range to take the Shadow Crashes and the Mark of the Faceless, while the melee and the tank healer all sat right on top of Vez. Having two interrupters probably didn’t hurt, either.

Got a couple of tries in on Yoggy, but we mostly kept running up against our previous issue of overenthusiastic DPS. They just get so damned excited about hitting stuff that they can’t always process, “Sometimes you need to **stop hitting the thing **until it’s where we need it to die.”

Hell, thousands of WoW quests work this way. How many times have you done a gathering quest? How many times have you killed a boss for a tier token or badges? How many times have you run all over the damned globe to get attunement or a key?

With the added bonus of being one of the few places left with roaming Pwn Your Goddamn Face Elites.

Grats!

If Bert is fighting slimy-murkies on your lap, it’s time to take a shower. And probably put on some pants.

If you run it this weekend, depending on when, I may be able to bring my DK if you need a warm body to fill a DPS slot.

It’s my understanding that the quests remain at their original levels. Given that they involve level-appropriate instances, this makes sense.

Side note: Do you have or know a chanter on the same server and faction? IME 99% of the time you’re better off DEing the item and selling the chant mats.

As for flyer money… Do you have any cash on the opposite faction of your server? If so, you might want to look into buying that faction’s pets, muling them over to your faction, and selling them on the faction AH. Or, you could sell your own faction’s pets on the Goblin AH. (That’s how I financed most of my DK’s flyer, because at the time I had about 1,000 more gold sitting on the opposite faction.)

Don’t get the Silverpine-hating. I like it because (1) it has 3 nice, coherent storylines going that pretty much all of the quests tie into and (2) more importantly, it’s NOT THE FRIGGIN’ BARRENS.

Darkshore is one of three zones that I haven’t quested through at-level, the other two being Bloodmist Isle and the Badlands. (Oh, and the level 70 zones in Outland).

I’ll have to try to pay attention to the Silverpine quests when I roll through it tonight. I’ve never been through the undead lands before, but slowing down to read quest text when rep grinding can be tough. Tirisfal Glades was pretty much what I’ve come to expect from the Forsaken, though: “Kill the Scourge! Kill the living! Help me test this plague mixture on our captives! Kill!” Creepy fuggers. And I’ll probably be Exalted with them first. Go figure.

Ok, confirmed: We’ll have a BDL run of Sunken Temple on Saturday night, 8:00 server time. Next Wednesday we’ll go back to our normal schedule, and back to BRD.

Tom: Sorry you can’t make it Saturday, but I’d be glad to help you with the questline another night (Blood of Morphaz? I thought you already did it?). My rogue or SPriest could even give you a runthrough.

If you need more people, I’ll try to be 50 by Saturday so I can join in.

Grats! Took us three tries I think… first two failed on missed interrupts, which is pretty much an auto-wipe. But yeah, with geared healers that can heal through the enrage and still manage their mana it’s a relatively easy fight.

It was a little tougher for us due to having 4 ranged DPS - makes positioning for dodging the crashes while still being able to use the splashes and also staying away if you get the Mark a bit tougher. Any reason you didn’t keep the trees in melee range too (so the didn’t get the mark or targeted by a crash)?

Good luck on Yogg! I have a feeling it’s gonna be a bit of a struggle for us, but we’ll see. We’d also be like only the 9th guild to even down Yogg on Cairne (and two of them have disbanded/changed servers). Man, Cairne is bad for raiding…

I actually liked Silverpine a lot. And I hate, hate, **hate **Darkshore. You can’t deny the roaming face-eating Elites, though.

Hah. Wait till you get to the Battle of Hillsbrad quest line. I think it’s the only place in the game, aside from the Death Knight intro quests, when you engage in wholesale slaughter of innocent civilians.

Oh, I’ve already gone through Tarren Mill, definitely. There’s a little cognitive dissonance with being a druid and yet engaging in wholesale slaughter and aiding the Forsaken in their quest for genocide, but then I see a red name and I jump its ass.
