World of Warcraft General Discussion

I agree, more or less. I got the impression that she does relatively less damage in p2 now, Deep Breath is no longer a totally random event that is likely to wipe the raid and she doesn’t have a threat reduce anymore, aggro was always flaky in the old days.

In my opinion she is easier than she was in the old days(not that she was really hard then either), we managed to one shot the 10 man version with half the raid being people grabbed from LFG. Personally I was impressed, since I completely botched the landing(I was the tank) and both healers got killed, luckily we were three druids in the raid so we got both healers up with a bit of chainressing

They got two, one is a good old fire nova with a 5 second cast time that melee should move away from and the other is Ignite Weapon which hits everything within 5y of the tank. Ignite Weapon can be avoided if they are disarmed

I have hunted and hunted and hunted for that questgiver, and have never been able to find him. I can say that none of the four questgivers in the Alliance area give it. I’ve flown over every inch of that place looking for another “!”, but nada. This after reading about it on WowWiki. Is it perhaps not an actual questgiver, but rather just a regular NPC that you can talk to?

There are a couple silly achievements, To All The Squirrels I’ve Loved Before and To All the Squirrels Who Shared My Life that you can get by clicking on the various critters and typing “/love” in your chat line.

There’s also one (I think it’s called “Pest Control”) to kill a list of critters like rats, snakes, the little scorpions, etc.

Grats SFG

I experienced something rather odd last night.

We were questing in Hellfire Peninsular when we bump into a Hunter with the ‘amusing’ name of Huntinforyou. Without even a hello he has challenged me to a duel and I was in a good mood so accepted. As soon as I did he said:

“wow power levelled”

Which confused me no end but anyway the duel is ticking down so I get prepared. It was a longish fight and he got me down to a sliver of health twice but judicious use of first Divine Shield then Lay on Hands results in a victory for the pally tank. I cast a quick ‘Holy Light’ to give him some health after the duel ends and what is his reply?

“retard”

Then he trots off. Any idea what his problem was? At no point did he stop fighting or ask me to stop I have the chat log.

Exactly where I am, mining at 246 but I have no desire to go to EPL when I can quest in Outlands for the lovely new gear. I’ll have to soon though I’m running out of cash, my first repair bill greater than 1G last night!

I believe that, in technical terms, he was an idiot. You’ll encounter people like this from time to time, if you’re lucky it will be no more than what you just experienced. If you’re really unlucky they’ll be leading the pug raid you joined but you won’t realize it until after you’re saved.

Thanks, SFG!

I’ll AFK for a few days. Need to get some extra help with the depression and dementia.

Details on the blog if you choose to look.

I’ll miss playing and y’all’s help here.

Quasi/Wolkie & Silka

PS: Check on Heather everynow and then? She’s had some weird looking dudes standing next to her lately, so **Wolkie **was having to his bowing, keenling and kissing while being laughed at! ;)

PPS: I’ll try to check in HERE if I can…

In the charming vernacular of my home town, “his mama gave birth standing up.”

I have a love macro … i love them then i kill them. Im covered for both so I dont have to remember which i have to love and which i have to kill =)

You know you can love them AFTER you kill them, too, if you’re all freaky and weird like that…

That’s not planning, that’s improvising on the spot. It requires a completely different skill set than any boss fight in the game, and in terms of number of mobs, amount of CC required, health of each mob, yeah, it’s a trash pull. I like fights that can be choreographed, where precision and foreknowledge take the fore (think Freya, group up, spread out, under the shroom, across the river). I hated the Opera fight for this reason, and it was only one of three possibilities.

It wouldn’t bother me nearly so much if the PvE rules applied. No threat, and DR from CC? And I can’t really stop to actually cast anything, hell I usually die because I needed stand still long enough to reapply banish or fear, and some melee mob beats me into pulp (hitting harder than I get hit in PvP too). Even if the PvP rules applied it wouldn’t be as bad (resilience, drainable amounts of mana).

Think about it like this, in the KJ fight there was one completely new mechanic (the dragon orbs) and only a couple of people needed to learn to use it. Everything else was simply a ramp up of skills you’d been using throughout the instance and even the expansion as a whole. This fight, OTOH, has nothing to do with anything you’ve done elsewhere (heck, even Maly has the Oculus as a training ground), and certainly nothing to do with the skillset involved in PvE raiding.

A note for those discussion/venting about the Faction Champions fight. At least on 10-man normal mode it has been nerfed into the ground. The champs put out significantly less damage (little real risk of getting focus fire killed right off the bat). And you can now have one healer in the opponent makeup (not sure if one healer is the standard or if it’s just possible). Last night we had Resto Shaman, Ret Pally, Hunter, Mage, DK, Warrior and it was complete faceroll.

Kind of disappointing that they nerfed it so hard. I know they were going to lower the difficulty but it was by far the easiest fight of them all for the group we had last night.

Also nerfed (at least it seemed to me) was the damage required to lower the Twin’s Pact shield. We got it down very quickly when it has been a somewhat dicey proposition for our group in the past.

Heh I like that.

The insult at the end fair enough it was the ‘wow power levelled’ that got me really confused, is that an insult in some bizarre universe?

He seems to have been suggesting that you don’t know how to play your character; that you’d been power levelled up to whatever level you were and lacked actual skillz.

On what basis, I have no idea.

My WAG: “you have better gear than I do/than I think you should.”

The one previous time I was in a “hardcore” raiding guild, things did not go well. Basically, I got in trouble for things like the DPS pulling off me when they massively overgeared me and I was given zero lead time, including on kiting fights where half the time the boss was out of melee range. Needless to say, I was more than a little paranoid coming into a potentially similar situation.

I can stop worrying! The lead tank whispered me last night to tell me that they’re very happy with me. I’m incredibly relieved to know that I’m working with people who care more about your ability to learn and listen than judging you based on gear gaps and jitters.

This **was **in 25-man, on Tuesday (so, post-patch). Was the buff since then? We have **very **solid DPS, though (as you may guess from the achievements I picked up in Ulduar on the same night), so YMMV.

In WoW parlance, we call this a “Huntard.”

:frowning: Many hugs to you, Quasi. Hope to see you again soon.

That’s what I used to do, but now I have an addon called Overachiever. It actually gives me info in the tooltip (on mouseover) that tells me if I’ve already /loved or killed it, or if I still need it. It also does a have read/need to read for Well Read.

Side note: Here’s a handy macro I made:

(99% sure that this is the right syntax for the commands, but you might want to test it first, 'cause I don’t have any references in front of me.) This will (1) clear your current target if you have one, (2) attempt to target whatever you have instead of Crittername, (3) stop the macro if you don’t have anything targeted, (4) /love your target. This makes the macro easily spammable without filling your screen up with random /love emotes.

He’s suggesting that you paid a service to level your toon up to the level it is now, and therefore don’t know how to play your abilities and talents correctly.

Ooooooh…shiny! Looks like I’m visiting Curse when I get home from work…

Agreed - SFG, I don’t know if I should be happy or not that I have Yet Another Useful Addon to install.

Oh, I did actually see someone who’d been powerleveled. IIRC this was some time after the release of Wrath, around a time when it was logical for most semi-dedicated lvl 80s to exist if they’d had a lvl 70 carry over from BC. So 80s weren’t hugely impressive but not a dime a dozen either.

Some level 80 priest says in Trade that he’s looking for a guild. Out of curiosity, I look him up on WoWArmory and holy crap, he’s in mid-to-low BC gear. I even recall some item from Blood Furnace or Hellfire Ramparts. (Yes, the time stamp was current, it wasn’t an Armory screwup.) I was shocked - I mean, I didn’t expect they’d deck him out in blues and purples, but I at least expected a set of sort-of-appropriate green cloth gear. Nope. Looks like he went with a bargain basement PLing service and they took all the loot that dropped in the process. Even a bad player would have said “hey, new cloth gear” and slapped it on if he’d leveled himself.

I pity the guild he ended up in, if they didn’t do a gear check, and found their new healer was very substandard in skills and gear.

I think Blizzard’s inconsistent naming scheme has us talking past each other. I believe your strat still works for both 10-man and 25-man regular mode. It is on the Heroic (or Hard-mode or whatever you want to call it) that the fight was buffed.

And rightly so, I think. It’s pretty weak that you can let every heal through and still win the fight - obviously not what was intended.
