:smack: Yes. Yes it does.
Dear Og, I don’t know what was up with the Dalaran lag last night, but something was sure off. I didn’t get home from work until after 9:00PM (13-hour shift … arg) and didn’t log into WoW until 9:30 or so. Then I had to hurry to get my Brewfest dailies done on Cairne, which is 2 hours ahead of my time zone, so it was 11:30PM server time and I needed to get the stuff done before midnight, server time. After that I switched over to my main on Lightbringer, which is in my time zone, and did all my Brewfest stuff there. Once that was out of the way it was hurry off to Dalaran to get my fishing and cooking dailies in before midnight.
The cooking daily drove me nuts, and lag is all I can attribute it to. The daily in question was “Cheese for Glowergold”, where you have to pick up a piece of cheese from One More Glass and collect six half-full Dalaran wine glasses. It took me nearly half an hour to finish that quest, purely because the wine glasses just were not spawning, or were doing so at a ridiculously slow rate. Normally I can finish that quest in 5 minutes or less. I saw a few other people who seemed to be having the same problem. I don’t know what was causing the lag. You’d think the server population would drop off by 11:00 on a school night, but I guess not.
I was somewhat mollified when I did the fishing daily, “Monsterbelly Appetite”, and got the quest fish on my first cast.
Something weird I’ve seen in Dalaran several times: The city itself is supposed to be a “no flight zone”, aside from Krasus’ Landing, right? So how is it that I keep seeing Horde players hovering on their flying mounts over that well that drops into the Underbelly? Is there a narrow pillar of airspace over that well that counts as “Underbelly” rather than “Dalaran”, and so the no-flight rule is not in effect there, or something?
That got changed in the last patch. Now only some parts are No-flight (I do think the mapping needs refining), you don’t get dismounted if you fly high over the no-flight areas and you can fly off from the flight point.
Given that you saw a bunch of other people running around, I’m guessing it had nothing to do with lag–you just hit a bad time of day. When I was on a server with a higher population of people who did the Cooking dailies, that one would regularly take me about half an hour to finish, and I’d be ready to reach through the screen and choke anybody who beat me to a wine glass. On BT, while there’s a high server population, there aren’t as many 80s and/or people who do those dailies.
Even when all airspace above Dalaran was a no-fly zone, there were certain paths you could take where you wouldn’t register as being in Dalaran and thus wouldn’t get dismounted. You can now stay mounted if you stay high enough above the city, but that doesn’t appear to be what you’re talking about here, so I’m guessing those bugged areas still exist.
ETA:
Nava, you could always use a flying mount on Krasus’ Landing or at the end of the pipe that comes out of the Sewer. The only thing that changed with the patch was being able to stay mounted if you remained high enough above the ground. You can fly over Dalaran, but if you get down to about building level, it will still dismount you, unless you’re in one of the aforementioned flying areas (or one of the bugged spots).
But some subareas that used to trigger the no-flight now don’t. Promise.
Good news! Apparently, if they don’t think you’re going to kill yourself, they don’t admit you. So instead I’ll start intensive cognitive behavior therapy on an outpatient basis daily from 9-3. Starts next Tuesday (which is patch day, anyway, right?)
Y’all think I can talk 'em into installing WoW as part of my therapy?
It already is, you know!
So for the time being, at least, I’ll still be your own personal Plague-Land!
Now to take an “intensive” look at SFG’s suggestions!
Thanks for the hugs, Hon!

As far as I know, those are the same spots that were always bugged. Even before you could do a high-level flight over Dal, there were paths you could take where you wouldn’t get dismounted. To the best of my knowledge (i.e., the places I saw people hovering pre-patch and the places I see them hovering now), those bugged spots are exactly the same.
As for sub-areas of Dalaran, Krasus Landing has always allowed flight on all parts of it, as has that pipe in the Sewers. So I’m not sure what areas you think are new.
Yup, it’s my understanding that they generally only admit you (or force you to be admitted, anyway) if you’re considered a danger to yourself or others. (Presumably you could still **ask **to be taken into inpatient treatment.)
Hey, the plaguelands (especially EPL) have the **best **mob names–they all sound like death metal bands! Think about it… Hate Shrieker… Mossflayer Cannibal… Monstrous Plaguebat…
In Brewfest-related news, I got up early this morning to do the dailies because I knew I wouldn’t be able to play tonight (wife and kids get home from vacation, so I’ll be expected to actually spend time with them…).
I did the barking daily through Org with no problem. I tried to pick up the keg-delivery job but couldn’t get it because I had done it late last night, less than twelve hours before. I went to the festival area at 6:30, but the Dark Iron Dwarves never showed up! Or I missed them. So I logged in again before 7:00 for the dwarves, and they came. Unfortunately there were only about four of us there to throw mugs at them, so they were able to destroy our kegs and leave. No quest :-(.
So I’m stuck at about 308 tokens right now. Assuming I don’t get to play tonight, but do get at least a few minutes tomorrow and Sunday, I should be able to complete the Brewmaster achievement on Sunday. Which gives me the What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been achievement. Which gives me my proto-drake. Woo-hoo!
Awesome, Skammer! Hope to log in here on Monday to hear all about its eye-melting-magenta glory.
Carrion Grub is the best, though.
These guys were hovering maybe 10 feet above the ground. Three of them, all piled together, right over the well.
Well I got Brewmaster and hooked back up with my old guild, who were still around, much to my surprise. They’re apparently well into Ulduar and working on Trial, so don’t know where that leaves me with six month old gear. Running lots and lots of instances for badges, I suppose. They’re a fun group to hang around, so my only regret is that I haven’t been playing with them.
Anyone else getting carpal tunnel from the ram riding quests? You just pound the reins repeatedly for about 5 minutes while running back and forth. I’m not a mage so I’m not used to only hitting one button to play my class.
I came 8 tokens short of Brewmaster today, so I’ll have to wait until tomorrow for the meta-achievement protodrake. I also lost my second Brewfest Mount roll (the ram). So I’ve lost rolls on the ram, the kodo, and the remote so far. Oh well!
Ouch. Sorry. I have to wait on the whole Brew of the Month club, since I wasn’t in the last Brewfest.
They changed it for this year. You just have to sign up for the BotM club to get the needed achievement, with an extraneous achievement once you’ve completed the BotM.
Okay, I have to correct myself. Turns out the weren’t directly over the well, but rather off to one side of it. OTOH, I was not able to mount up on my flying mount anywhere near there, so I have to guess that they’re somehow flying to that spot from elsewhere and are simply not getting auto-dismounted.
Regarding glyphs: I removed Revenge glyph. Remove Sweeping stike too, right and then replace??
Can I BUY those glyphs you mentioned in AH?
Prot Spec Question: Do I need to unlearn some of them to make room for the ones you mentioned.
And thanks for the tip on how to fight and in what order. I had been doing it just randomly.
smack:
We got us a whole new “ball-game” friends!
Thanks to all of you once again.

Maybe one of those (what did we used to call 'em?) Head-Bangers employed at Blizz made up those names?

Q
That’s right. I did not get BotM last year either, but got the achievement when I signed up for it this year. Got the drake today! Already had someone compliment it in WG.
I solved the glyph thing, honey, thanks!
We’re equipped and are already noticing a difference!
THANKS!

ETA: If I’m standing on zero yards, and the green arrow is pointing DOWN, do I just need to stand there and wait (Maury’s Broken Foot) to get there?
