World of Warcraft General Discussion

Hey,

  1. I know I’ve asked this before, and if I missed it, sorry, but I keep getting a "quest failed duplicate item found in Blasted Lands (I had 4 gizzards and only 2 were required). How do I get rid of just two. or do I have to start all over?

  2. Do shouts, taunts, etc. do any good against animals?

Thanks

Q

To Quasi: Can’t help you with the first, I haven’t been in blasted lands in ages.

To the second, yeah, taunts etc work as well on animals as they do on people.

In other news, had a relatively successful practice tank run in the Nexus (regular). I think the paladin had his increase-aggro ability turned on the whole time, but that just kept things interesting; I managed to keep my rotation going and also react to circumstances much better than I had in the previous run. Also took Keristrasza down from about 50% hp to about 5% solo after (a) the pally died from standing next to me instead of to the side of the dragon (b) the hunter forgot to jump and © the healer died somehow or other, not sure how. Anyway, we convinced the pally and hunter to use tactics the second go around, and all went smoothly.

The collection quests in the blasted lands can be repeated (and the second time you do it, it shows up as a different quest name than the first time, so you might not see the blue ? to let you know it’s repeatable), but the quest rewards they offer are unique, so you can only carry one at a time.

Depending on which gizzard collecting quest you’re turning in, you’ll already have Cerebral Cortex Compound or Ground Scorpok Assay in your bag from the first time you turned it in. You’ll have to use or destroy this item before you can turn the quest in again.

These quests aren’t really worth repeating; you’ll get no xp, no gold, no credit toward the loremaster achievement, and the item you do get is not worth the time involved. Elixirs can be bought on the AH with similar effects for rock-bottom prices.

Thanksaktep, yes, I noticed I wasn’t getting any XP from those 2 Bloodmages. I just couldn’f figure out why.

Thanks, Tom!

Y’all aren’t going to believe THIS one! I’ve been using my healing potion wrong! I thought you were supposed to use it, just like you drink something (like water! It wasn’t till last night when I accidentally hit it while being triple-teamed and noticed my health bar filling up again.

If it weren’t got this thread, I know I’d still be trying to get out of Goldshire!

I swear, anybody got a “Dunce” cap to put on me???

Thanks

We’ve all been there **Quasi ** trust me, perhaps not this but something else the game is freakin’ huge. You should only use health potions in the middle of a fight when your health is dangerously low, they are instant but have quite a cooldown (so you can’t drink two or more one after the other).

So we completed Blood Furnace last night without much trouble, having a level 75 hunter really helped :). I also dinged 64 and got upgrades on my chest and legs, I am finding that I change my gear nearly every night at the moment without having to go to the AH. I like Outland.

Wait till you get to Northrend my friend, if you like the gear drops in Outland, you’re gonna go all fuzzy headed when you hit Northrend man. At least the gear for my DK was completely uberly awesome all the way to 80 from just quest rewards. We’ll see how my 'lock does on his trip through Northrend, but I remember a lot of cloth to be had in the quest rewards.

How does one delete one’s own guild?

Thanks

Q

Leave it with every character, using /gquit
When the guildmaster (who is the only member left) /gquits, the guild goes poof.

Thanks, martu! SFG was a huge help with her advice a couple of Mondays ago, and one of the many good things she helped me do was create an auto-mount, auto-dismount key. Sure does speed things up!

I was on wowhead last night and couldn’t find the answer I needed, so I closed out and went to WoWiki. When I did that, there immediately came a pop-up informing me I had 9 viruses (this was from Windows Security, supposedly) and did I want them removed?

Well, of course I said ok, and when I did, I got ANOTHER pop-up from Windows asking if I wanted to allow access to this program?

I opted out, went To AVG, and no viruses. Has this happened to y’all and do we need to be wary of WoWiki?

Thanks

Like Martu said, we’ve all been there. When I levelled my first character back in wow classic, I tried to walk from Stormwind to Ironforge because I didn’t know about the tram. I was also stagnating until someone told me about Badlands so I could continue levelling.

I’ve seen that pop up before, but never on Wowwiki. It’s bogus.

If you aren’t already, I’d suggest also using wowhead.com. It’s a pretty awesome resource.

Bah, I remember getting all the way to level 25 on my lock before I found out about talent points. Let me tell you right now, that made a world of difference. I thought I was a GOD after I put all my talent points into the affliction tree.

There was also the time I realized on my lock that after taking about 6 month vacation from wow and came back, that I went from level 40 to 50 without buying any new spells. Man, that made a world of difference right there too.

There are soo many others to mention that it’s just plain funny. If anyone wants, I’ll start a thread of silly things we’ve all done on WoW to make Quasi feel better. It really happens to everyone man. Don’t sweat it.

BTW, what server are all you guys on? I’m on Velen myself.

There’s a horde-side SDMB guild on Cairne server (the Burning Dog Legion, feel free to roll an alt and send a message to one of use for an invite, or just ask on /sdmb); it’s where I spend basically all my WoW time.

I might do that. I could even roll me a DK over there too so I don’t have to start from scratch. That’d be pretty cool. I’ll see if I can look one of you guys up, please feel free to send me a PM with your toons name and anyone else in the guild so that I can get a hold of you when I roll one.

I’m Muzungu, but we’re none of us on all the time; just do a /who burning dog and you’ll catch some of us on most evenings, though maybe not anyone with the authority to invite new members.

You can search for guilds in the armory and see all chars level 10 and above. Well, I can’t, but that’s because I’m in Europe and the bleeping thing is too helpful (keeps sending me to the eu. webpages).

Also, if you are the Guild Leader you can use /gdisband and it will disband the guild in one fell swoop.

It is one of the adverts on wowwiki not wowwiki itself and yes always say no to these requests, if in doubt don’t install it. This happened to me today looking at another wiki page it looks very much like Windows Security Centre doesn’t it? Clever.

One wowhead search later and dammit I want to be 70 now! No idea if we’re going to see much of Outland anyway, already at 64 and we haven’t left Hellfire Peninsula yet.

Ok, made me a troll DK over on Cairne. His name is Bridgelurker. I’ll work on seeing if I can get an invite sometime. I won’t be a completely fully active member since I have a guild and do a lot of stuff on my current server. but I can definitely answer questions and provide assistance when I am on. I’ve done quite a bit of research about this game and know a lot of stuff, and if I don’t know it, I know where to go to look it up. Hope to talk to you guys later.

Bridgelurker out…hehehe…I love that name for a troll…hehe…

Found this egg in my WoW mail, with a nice note (breanni) so I added it to my bag, made it hatch, and now I’ve got this cute little penguin in my “pet-pen”.

I was reluctant because it says “account-bound”, and I didn’t want it to be from a gold-farmer and screw up my account, but I guess everyone got from Bliz?

Don’t reckon I can set him behind me on Silka, huh?

I’m afraid he runs beside us, she might stomp his cute little ass flat!

Thanks
