World of Warcraft General Discussion

Just don’t panic (like I did) when you first go through the portal and see ginormous level 70 elite demons charging at you! They’ll ignore you.

Yeah, I had specifically purchased it the day before. Unfortunately, I can’t remember now what it was called.

They also automatically give you the flight path to Shattrath now, too.

So da Wolk’ can go in as a 53, even if he’s Prot-Specced only?

SFG says 58, and y’all gotta remember: Me and da Wolk’ don’t know the strategy of the game as well as you do.

I know we’re “well-equipped” weapon-wise, and we know (pretty much) how to use 'em, but we ain’t so good on “Intel”.

That’s a challenge, right?

For me, I mean.

But even if I have to grind to 58, it’s still better in Az’ than out in this damn place!

What was it that “Gary” guy said before they shot his ass in Utah?

“Let’s do it!”?

I really do love this game.

Bill the redneck: “An’ I ain’t jus’ sayin’ it man! I love it!”

Okay, enough satire for now.

Back to da the “shit”.

Quasi, you probably shouldn’t plan to head too far into Outlands until you’re 58 unless you just want to look around. And it’s a great view when you first go through the portal, so sneaking in and taking a look around if you’re in the area anyway could be fun. But there aren’t any quests you can do and little you could kill until 58.

So is anyone besides me following the little tidbits they’re releasing on Cataclysm? I’ve been hitting MMO-Champion every morning for news. They’re mostly talking about Icecrown Citadel right now, but and patch 3.3. Personally, I’ve already got my name picked out and reserved for my troll druid on Blackhand. I know it’s probably still at least 6 months away, but I’m really looking forward to more exploring and questing in a reimagined Azeroth.

So just out of curiosity, has anybody ever tried running the Deeprun Tram route between SW and IF?

I have, and I’m proably the poorest example.

I know it’s gotta be dark in there because of all the smelting they must do, but I mean Damn!

“You can spend a week there in one day!”

I plan to avoid it every chance I get, because it IS hard to navigate and find stuff there w/o Night Out!

Yep, a few times.

It’s not that interesting.

I think we’ll go on through the Dark Portal and just take a look.

Thanks

Q

On second thought, do the Eastern Plaguelands have a path OTHER than the Chillwind Camp?

I seem to get my ass licked every time I land at Chillwind and go East.

It would be a lot easier if I could avoid all that and just START OUT in the east.

Thanks

Q

Yeah, Obe-Kay-Be!

Just rode from Chill Wind Camp to go East to THEIR Plaguelands and guess what???

“Dem Bones” formed a skeleton chain east to west that we couldn’'t ride through, so

we didn’t EVEN get a chance to get off and fight!

Silka wants to know does anybody need a human who’s not a masochist?

She says to tell y’all her armor’s gettin’ dented so bad the steam can’t come out, and it’s
chafin’ her! :frowning:

No worries, we still got some termite-pickin to do, don’t we Gal?

Whinny

WILLLBURRR!

God, I love role-playing!

Thanks

Q

Sorry. Totally MISSED the emphasis on the word “running” and thought you meant the arrival point and then getting around.

I get so disoriented there it ain’t even funny and it makes me wanna avoid having anything to do with the area or its quests at all.

I guess it’s different for anyone who’s played for a while and knows their way around, but as for me? I prefer the “wide open spaces”

Sorry for the “detour”, Rik, but I felt like I needed to explain that every once in a while I have an “idea”, even though it misses its point!:D;):D;)

Thanks

Q

Instead of trying to ride through everything, try slowing down and pull one thing at a time to clear a path. If you find the creatures are too difficult to do so, then you may not be able to handle whatever’s on the other side that you’re trying to get to. That said, there is another path to Western Plaguelands, from the Hinterlands; if you go to Aerie Peak in the Hinterlands and head east along the mountains, you’ll find a path leading up and through to Western Plaguelands, near Scholomance.

Regarding Outland and the Dark Portal, if you’re having difficulty with the Plaguelands, I would not recommend going to Outland. It’s generally advisable to wait until level 58 before venturing through. If you’re looking for new scenery, you could try Felwood, Winterspring, Un’Goro Crater or Silithus (if you haven’t been there yet).

My initial system didn’t have enough RAM… I managed to fall off the tram a couple times. So yep, I did it.

Well, I think that my mistake has been to believe I can ride down (or up) a road, and because I’m in motion, they won’t come after me.

In other words, I feel that when I armor Wolkie up after he levels to 53, he ought to be able to ride through 55’s with no probs if he keeps going.

Guess that’s not the case, as I found out last night!

I laughed out loud when I saw those skeletons link arms and stand across the road, blocking Wolkie and Silka!

My last thought before I died, was: “How’s that for solidarity?” (Get it?)

Thanks!

And thanks also for the Hinterlands path suggestion, Words!

I know y’all get tired of reading it, but I would not still be enjoying WoW if it weren’t for you!

Quasi

Where did that happen? I’ve never seen that.

My guess is the casters, the way skeleton models cast, if they’re standing next to each other, it probably looks like they’re linking arms. Either that or Quasi is just being poetic about the experience.

The undead in Andorhal can be pretty thick, especially around the lich in charge.

:smiley:Words is correct, though I didn’t know what those guys were called, and it was only afterward that I convinced myself they had linked arms, so sorry for the misconception there, Rik.

Did I also remember to mention that as they lined up beside each other they did a can-can to La Cucaracha?:D:D:D

Dementia. It’s not just for the senile anymore!

Thanks

Quasi

I have griped much in the past about my frustrations with playing a mage and trying not to get killed, so I wanted to mention that I’ve been enjoying my mage a whole lot more now that she’s past level 30 (my draenei fire mage on Lightbringer, that is; Wossname, my undead frost mage in the BDL is still only around lvl 22-24).

Survivability has gone way up, largely because of Mana Shield and now Ice Armor, but also because I’ve finally got a decent spell rotation (thanks to some suggestions here). My normal rotation opens with Pyroblast, followed immediately by Fireball, and then, depending on how many HP the mob has left, more Fireballs as needed or Scorch if the HP are very low. Sometimes I finish with Fire Blast if appropriate. And I’m handling getting ganged up on much better :stuck_out_tongue:

Been watching some fun WoW videos lately. Most of you have probably seen these, but I thought I’d share anyway:

For the Mages: M.A.G.E by Nymh

Ni Hao (A Gold Farmers Story)

L70etc- Rogues Do It From Behind- EU competition entry

Hey, I’m on Lightbringer as well! Horde-side, though. Phlegmy, 80 undead priest.

Nothing like blowing all your money on a big purchase. As soon as I hit 4000 gold (and change), I swung by Honor Hold and bought Epic Flying. …And then realized I was short just a few gold for the actual mount. So I ducked into Hellfire Citadel: Ramparts, and let me tell you, that place is pretty profitable when you don’t have to split 5 ways. I earned about 55 gold in one run between dropped silver and vendored loot with the added enjoyment of watching the mobs attack me with less force than a stiff breeze.

Dual-Spec, Cold Weather Flying, and Epic Flying…those are the big-ticket “necessities”, and I’ve got them all on my Pally. I feel pretty proud of myself; he’s not even 80 yet, still just 78. Any more gold earned is just gravy.
