Well, sure. But as it stands I’m basically never going to use the anti-magic-damage runes, say.
Except the activation issue can’t be solved, so I don’t really understand why you bring it up… you need to take everything into consideration when you’re evaluating the best gem or item for a given slot. Relentless is your best choice as Ret given the existing gem options in the game. What’s the purpose of suggesting a gem combination that is not best in slot? It seems like you’re theorycrafting hypothetical blue gems that Blizzard hasn’t even given an indication of adding, and using that as a basis to not ignore the Chaotic, which really doesn’t make sense when the purpose of the discussion was helping a new Ret Pally adjust his gear.
More along the lines that sometimes the socket bonuses may be good enough to consider in combination with the Chaotic gem, but since no, I haven’t been looking very closely at pala gemming lately, it may very well be there are no situations where this line of thinking is correct for paladins.
Hey, since you guys seem so smart about gems, how should I be gemming my Holy PvE Priest? I’ve been mostly stacking +Int, +SP and +Crit. Can’t get to the armory right now or I would tell you exactly what I’m wearing, but if you want to look me up my name is Kene, on the Cairne server. (Hopefully I didn’t log out in my Shadow gear).
I’m glad DM run went well. I jumped on earlier to run HH and ToT. Saw the mount! (rolled a 1:( ) Still no Hallowed Helm. but of interest to note: 3 of my PUG all needed the helm for the drake like me. This does not bode well if I’m rolling against everyone when I eventually DO see the helm. Then again, maybe it was just those three.
I have no idea what this means. I’m with you up through “needed the helm,” but “for the drake like me” has me all
.
Violet Proto-Drake that is a reward for completing the What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been-achievement.
Three of his pug needed the helm to get the Violet Proto-Drake, the same as he did.
Are you talking about the drake you get for Long Strange Trip? I don’t see that the Hallowed Helm contributes to any Hallow’s End achievement. Unless you’re talking about something else, anyway.
ETA: Never mind, just saw the relevant achievement.
I tend to check out what the people on the Elitist Jerks board are saying - here’s their healing mega-thread. Scrolling down in the first post, they seem to be emphasizing haste, Int, spellpower.
Ow! Bird, I hate to tell you this, but this morning I logged on and quickly cycled through my four main toons just to do a trick-or-treat at the inns where they were. Kenda got the helm. It made me think of you!
Hmm, I’ve never gemmed for haste because it just seemed to make me go OOM faster. But mana hasn’t been a problem in quite a while, so maybe I’ll change my strategy.
The little punkin head Hallowed Helm for the Sinister Calling achievement. And yeah, you need it - a guildie triggered “Long Strange Trip” merely by getting that drop when I was in the group; it was the last item she needed.
Oh, **that **helm. I was thinking of the **plate **helm, and for “drake” I was picturing a drake (e.g. the Bronze Drake from the timed CoS run) versus a proto-drake.
Hah, it looks like many people are quicker on the draw than I am. But yes, as stated, I need the Hallowed Helm for the Halloween Achievement which will trigger the Achievement for all the holidays and garner me a super awesome fast flying mount.
Skammer, I’ve heard that the helm drops from the ToT and the Matron-gift so I’m going to make sure I’m trying to hit those more often.
They do. I got my Hallowed Helm from a matron gift.
I wish there were some way to pass the damn things off–I got mine last year, so of course this year I’m swimming in them. (I’ve probably vendored close to a half-dozen.)
- I got an e-mail telling me my account is being investigated because I am selling my account?
WHY would I want to do that???
The e-mail says I have just a few days to respond for them to close the “investigation”???
-
Jerky action with my toon, flying. Common?
-
That “Horseman” guy? Needs a little less caffeine? But he DOES remind me of when I first logged on to WoW!

Thanks!

Almost certainly a phishing attempt hoping to get you to divulge your account information (so they can steal your account). Do not send any account info in an e-mail. Blizzard likely has an e-mail address where you can forward the e-mail you received.
I’m going to use large letters here because what I’m about say is important.
That e-mail is fake.
Do not respond to it, do not click on any links in it. This is someone trying to trick you into giving them your account details so they can steal you account.
Classic example of why **not **to buy gold: it puts you on their target list for accounts to hack. 'Cause you bought some before you knew any better, Quasi, you’re going to have to keep an extra-careful eye out for things like this. When in doubt, check here!
