World of Warcraft General Discussion

Can’t get there from here, either, but I’ll try to check it out when I get home. Thanks for the summary!

I can’t wrap my mind around completing every achievement. Not only is that every raid, even the highest level ones, and nearly every quest in the game, it also includes:
– all the fishing ones (winning the tourney, the rare catches, etc)
– 100? non-combat pets (including the very rare ones)
– 40 exalted reputations
– all the holiday quests, including the “Mask for All Occasions” from Hallow’s Eve
– all regular and heroic dungeons and all the special achievements in each of them
– all the PVP achievements! Think about all those BG ones that are next to impossible.
– all the luck-based achievements (greedy, needy, etc – although if you’ve run enough dungeons for everything else this is probably statistically inevitable)

He had to have tons of help I would think.

No, I jumped straight in unfortunately. I was Mining/Skinning and then had made enough gold and had gotten jealous enough that I decided switching would be a nice change of pace. I had another low level enchanting toon that I was in the 200 range, so I did have a lot of the starting mats. I figured I could level up pretty quicj - which I did, but it costs a lot for the later mats etc.

I"m gonna be doing a MC run tomorrow so I’ll keep my eye out. I used to grind old-world of blues to DE and then make the Crusader enchants, but I got sick of it. Now I just use abyssal shatter and make scrolls of enchant gloves - exceptional spellpower (4x infinite dust, 1x lesser cosmic essence) and have been selling them on AH for 40+ (mats are like 15g maybe). Enchanting is great because all mats/scroll don’t have a deposit so i can put them up there forever. It’s an easy cash cow because, with the competition on the weekends, the prices drop tremendously and I buy them out. They sell the scroll for 20g on the weekends, I sell them during the week for double or have even gotten 5-6x that.

My first thought was “private server” where he could hack without worry about GMs, but if he’s on the Armory, it can’t be a private server toon. Wow…

I still find it unbelievable. He has even killed every rare spawn in the game. At the very least he had more than 1 person playing on the account to help get all these done.

Speaking of that … I’m a little bit (okay, a whole lot) unclear on how one goes about making a sellable scroll. Is it something you learn to do at the higher levels of Enchanting? Nothing the “Enchanting Supplies” vendors sell appears to have anything to do with making scrolls, I know that.

Inscriptionist can make Armor/Weapon Vellums as part of their profession. They can be used be enchanters to place enchants on them. The vellums come in different levels (no requirements, level 35 and below enchants, level 60 and below enchants).
The scrolls can be sold/bought on the AH, or given to someone.

Search the AH for Vellum. There are three levels (I think), with higher levels able to hold higher-level enchants.

Edit: Ninja’d by Jbone. With better details, even.

Actually I lied! The enchant restriction go: no restriction, level 35 and ABOVE, level 60 and ABOVE.
It’s based on the level requirement for the armor/weapon.

Most of the higher level enchants require an item to be level 60 and above.

Making scrolls also allows you to give enchants to your alts, which is nice. Couldn’t do that before Inscription came around to make Vellum.

Vellum, especially the highest levels of it (Armor Vellum III and Weapon Vellum III), can get pretty expensive. Depending on your server’s economy, you might be better off buying the mats and finding an Inscriptionist to make you the vellums.

The monster is the player that is ready to beat on the 5 year old named Worldofwarcraft.

Thanks, Jbone and Tom! It had occurred to me that making scrolls while I’m leveling Enchanting might be more worthwhile than simply enchanting and re-enchanting the same piece of gear over and over. (I’ve been amusing myself trying to collect the full Frost-Rimed Plate set, which is just gray-text NR vendor trash, and using the various pieces to slap random enchants on while leveling the skill. All I’m missing are the leg and the boots  )

Yeah, that’s another thing. I’ve been enchanting the gear I have stashed in my vanity guild’s bank, but that’s kind of hit & miss guesswork as to whether the relevant alts will end up even needing that particular piece of gear by the time they hit the level where they can use it (that is, by the time they hit the right level they may already have something better from a quest reward or a drop). My main is constantly cleaning stuff out of the GB once it becomes clear that no alt is going to need it.

Another good prospective use for scrolls: A lot of the time I’m faced with an alt browsing the AH and looking at a piece of +suffix gear, and trying to decide which +suffix version to buy - specifically, the 1 +stat suffix vs the 2 +stats suffix. My warrior, for example, might find a nice chest upgrade, and sees there’s an “of the Bear” version and an “of Strength” version. The “of Strength” provides a nice +STR upgrade, but that’s it, and has the downside that she may be taking a big hit to Stamina if she replaces her existing “of the Bear” chest with this “of Strength” piece. So she usually goes with the “of the Bear”, settling for a small upgrade to both stats instead of a big boost to one and big drop in the other. But with access to the right scroll, she can buy the “of Strength” chest and then hit it with a +STA scroll, getting the big +STR boost and still getting the +STA she would have gotten from the “of the Bear” piece.

We killed Icehowl hard mode the other night after the enrage (which was soon followed by charge) with two people left standing, a pally and a shaman that used ankh right after the charge.

I heard 3.3 is dropping next week.

We have had three accounts hacked in the last couple of wweks as well. They stripped our guild bank. Blizzard reset the toons and replaced stolen items from the bank. Everyone bought an authenticator last week (or got the free iphone app).

It depends on the server but 4500 gold is dirt cheap on my server. Maybe its cheap because 3.3 is coming out.

  1. Gratz
  2. Cool
  3. DOH

How does the top guild on your server break up? Was it because too many people were sitting out so the guild split or was it because half your guild was doing a server transfer (these seem to be the most common reasons that top guilds split up)?

Ah. I’m now feeling better about ceasing to play my 80 after he spent all of his Triumph and Conquest badges a week and a half ago.

I heard this too, but I don’t keep up much on the information. Are they planning to switch all heroics to dropping triumphs or no?

Even though getting the upgraded items is great and easy, I’m not sure how many more WotLK original heroic dungeons I can do without going insane. Seriously it’s not even fun anymore.
