World of Warcraft General Discussion

As an enchanter - on the one hand, I’m kind of bummed that the price of enchanting materials is going to drop significantly, since I make some decent money that way. On the other hand – selling enchants themselves is going to become a lot more profitable since the mats will be cheaper.

Prices will probably drop across the board - once the mat prices have dropped enough, the cost of the enchants themselves will follow them. But this only really sucks for those of us who have already levelled enchanting - people starting out will benefit from cheaper mat prices as they’re levelling.

Anyway, doesn’t bother me all that much.

I think it might be time to pack up shop and switch professions. Anyone know if my ring enchants will stay active if I drop enchanting?
I hear jewelcrafting is nice this time of year.

Yep, but only from within your own battlegroup.

We tried it yesterday (four guildies, one PUG) and it worked very well.

I wonder if they attempt to do any gear-level matching, though. I’d hate to be in a group of mostly 245-level folks and get matched up with a fresh 80 in quest blues and crafted epics. Especially if it’s the tank. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nope, drop enchanting and the ring enchants go away.

Yeah, I’d recommend waiting until you can blast through H TOC consistently before hitting the new ICC instances on reg. My group of 200+ geared regulars (tank and I are geared for TOTC25) ran the new instances on reg, and the boss fights were still interesting enough to keep us on our toes – or roots, as the case were. We lost the tree and rogue a few times, so our shaman was pinch-hitting heals while the tank and I blew things up. I must say, I really like the new boss mechanics – they’re much more interesting and require you to pay attention to what’s going on.

The lore in those instances is awesome like an awesome thing, so I really recommend doing all the quests and hanging around to hear the talking first time through.

**MDSL **-- when you have a group and you haven’t been teleported to the dungeon, you can click on the green eyeball on your minimap to manually select Teleport to Dungeon. That bit us last night – we were wondering if we’d ever get to see ICC when our shaman had the brainstorm, and bang there we went.

I’ve got to say, it’s refreshing as a melee DPS to finally get to fight a boss (the first guy in the Soul Forge) whose big-ass AoE attack doesn’t hit the melee DPS first and hardest.

Hmmm…they seemed to have reversed the “BB King” achievement in Winter Veil (World Events) and he has one EXTRA achievement in the PvP category.

I can’t believe he got “A Mask for All Seasons” but I guess if you trick-or-treat 24/7 for two holiday seasons, it’s feasible.

I’m such a bonehead…I should have read the article first instead of looking at his achievements page.

How did he get “He Knows If You’ve Been Naughty”, a Winter Veil acheivement, in October?

He could have got it last year, right? I don’t remember the requirements for that specific achievement.

Yeah, he got it in October of last year, but Winter Veil doesn’t/didn’t start until mid-December. The requirement for the achievement is “Open one of the presents underneath the Winter Veil tree once they are available.” Did the trees show up way early last year? Winter Veil was already underway when I started playing last December.

You’ll notice he has many achievements from 10/23/08. I’m guessing that is when the achievement system went live and gave credit for all achievements that Blizz could reasonably conclude you completed (loot from a given boss, for example). He probably had something in his inventory that confirmed that he had opened a present during the previous Winter Veil and got credit for the achievement the day they went live.

Ah, okay. That makes sense then

So, the Burning Dog Legion run of Dire Maul - West occurred on schedule last night.

We only had three guildies - myself (58 pally tank), a 56 priest healer, and a 62 'lock. I put us in the Dungeon Finder, hoping we’d be able to find a couple more dps. In the past, looking for DM pugs has been a pain and involved spamming /trade and /lfg and we still usually had trouble finding people. Then of course you have to get to the instance and summon everyone.

With the new DF, we had our 2 dps (two hunters) and were teleported to the entrance of the instance in about two minutes. Awesome!

In terms of the run itself, it went fairly slow, and wiped two or three times due to bad pulls. The “Luck of the Draw” buff was great, but we did something - I know not what - that pulled a group of 8 or so elite elementals to us, which happened twice. Maybe they were not technically wipes because the hunters FD’d, but the rest of us had to run back. We did however manage to take down all the bosses and those of us who already did East and North got the Dire Maul achievement. And I dinged 59. I declare it a success!

Grats! If you do Lower Blackrock Spire next week (and I don’t have any real life come up), I’ll tear myself away from the new level 80 hottness to bring Rumpole along; he still has a quest to finish there.

Beat the first boss in ICC 25 man last night. Spent the rest of the night wiping on Deathwhisper.

Tonight we go back for more punishment.

that does it, I think Ill change my 80 human lock into an undead and change servers over … locks are excellent at elemental control.

We have a couple of options for next week including LBRS or a tribute run of DM-North. Probably want to get them out of the way before we head to Strat and Scholo. By mid-January we might be up to Ramparts!
