… How can you tell? I’m not sure I’ve even noticed anyone else’s character blinking, much less my own!
(I’ve got a female troll priest. My husband started a female troll warrior after reading an informal ‘census’ saying that this was one of the least-played gender/race/class combos.)
The tauren are rather attractive for bipedal bovines. There’s one aspect to playing a draenei female I hadn’t realized–the way they walk. There’s a certain amount of, er, sway, that the others don’t seem to have.
I was bored one night waiting for the zep from Org to leave and turned the camera to focus on my toon’s face (I do this occasionally because I look at the back of their heads so much I forget what they look like from the front)…after about 10 seconds I realized that she wasn’t blinking at all. So I looked at her occasionally after that and found that she really doesn’t blink. Ever. I started checking my other toons (and since I have altitis, I’ve had at least one of every race and gender combination) and ALL of them blink. Only the female trolls don’t.
Tauren are somewhat attractive, for what they are. I know there are WoW players who kind of…get into that…
I will note that Blizzard really ramped up the sexy attitudes for the new races in Burning Crusade. None of the original races has ANYTHING like the Draenei and Belf females’ idle movements, /silly phrases or look.
The worst thing about gnomes is, in my opinion, the Outlands. You really need to keep an eye out for the damn Fel Reavers, and it’s hard when your camera is two feet off the ground. And if you look too far up, the camera goes all wonky and sets your POV right on the ground plane.
I ditched Seal of Command as soon as I learned Seal of Vengeance (around lvl 68 I think?). So it was kind of nice being able to respec for free and skip putting points into SoC.
My position is that, if I’m going to be staring at a toon for hours on end, it may as well be something nice to stare at
I loves me some draenei females. Their faces, their mannerisms, their voices … My only complaint is that Blizzard gave them the best booties of any females in the game, and then stuck tails on them to spoil the view Blood elf females look hot, if a little scrawny. And those imperious, arrogant voices … arg. That and the belf NPCs seem to shout everything they say. When I’m around them I feel like I have to be constantly turning my volume down.
And the tips of some of their noses look like they’ve been someplace … unusual. What’s up with that? Is it supposed to be a shadow or something?
I have a couple female troll toons, a priest and a DK. They’ve actually kind of grown on me. I’ll say this for them: they have the best posture of any horde race of either sex. The troll females do all look kind of vapid, or slow-witted, though. I think that might just be because of the way their little tusks make them look like their mouths are always open, combined with the not blinking. They look funny when they run, too.
The only race/sex combos I have yet to play are tauren and dwarf female, troll male, gnome male, and blood elf male. I made a gnome male warlock on a RP server, but ended up not playing him at all (I don’t think I even logged him in).
I seem to be unusual (I wouldn’t go so far as to say unique) in that I don’t even register the backside of my own character. On the occasions I do, I regard the character as my avatar, so I think of it as looking at myself. For that reason I almost never play females (zero on WoW, and maybe 2 females out of 14-16 characters in City of Heroes) and feel silly when I do and admire “my own” curves. I’d much rather play characters that represent me or my ideal.
My human male character looks a lot like me. Read into that what you will
There are some combos I’ve tried and didn’t like, but the only one so far I’ve found that I just flat-out will not do is a tauren female. It’s just so WRONG. Bovines with boobs? No, no, no. I think they could have had no end of fun with chestpieces for udders (or at least multiple pairs), but I understand that would have been a whole lot of work.
I have a question about working toward these various Loremaster achievements. I don’t expect to actually get the big meta achievements any time soon, but right now I’m working on To Hellfire and Back (Complete 80 quests in Hellfire Peninsula). I’ve completed 73 so far, so I’m almost there, but the thing is that quests seem to be getting scarce. Since I play solo, my question is this: can I get all 80 (or whatever the specific number is depending on the zone) without having to venture into instances?
The only quests still being offered at Honor Hold require going into Hellfire Citadel, aside from that repeatable PvP quest to capture the three objectives (and in any case I’ve already discovered that repeating the same daily quest doesn’t increment the quest counter for the purpose of these achievements).
I flew around a bit and went back to that little Alliance outpost to the east of Honor Hold, near the Legion Front, and found a questgiver there who got me started on the bombing missions, which led to a handful of other missions, but I’ve finished those and I’m not seeing any others. I’ve done all the quests offered at the Temple of Telhamat, and I’ve done the Cenarion quests too.
If I have to do the Hellfire Citadel quests to get the achievement, I’m afraid I’ll just have to wait and come back at lvl 80.
ETA: I’m also working on Old Man Barlo’s daily fishing quests for the Old Man Barlowned achievement, but he keeps giving me the same quest (“Crocolisks in the City”) over and over. I’ve done that three times now, and “Felblood Fillet” once. Does he just hand out his quests completely randomly?
You can definitely do it without going into instances, though you might need to complete some group quests. I’m not sure quite where to steer you specifically, as I’m a pretty pure Horde player, but I think the quests given out by the crashed Goblin zeppelin are for both factions, and it sounds like you’ve missed them. (The zep is to the east of the Cenarion camp a ways). I think there are 7 or 8 of them, all told, which should about do you.
In general, only the quests that are listed in the appropriate zone heading count (if you look in your quest log, any quests under “Hellfire Peninsula” count); thus, instance quests typically don’t count towards the zone-specific achievements (but do, obviously, for achievements such as The Seeker).
I don’t play Alliance, so don’t know where all their quests might be hiding. You can check sites like Wowhead to see if there are any you might be missing. Another good source is the series of leveling guides at Wow-Pro.com, which are usually geared towards hitting all the quests in a zone (or, at least hitting enough for the achievement).
I play a level 80 BE Pally on Spinebreaker, although I haven’t really done much PvP since Lich King came out, mainly instance runs and questing.
At any rate, with the new patch, I can’t seem to spec correctly. I like being and have played this toon as a ret pally since I created her. Now, I’m constantly being told by other players you should do this…you should do that…, blah, blah.
I want to do my part and make sure I’m doing the maximum DPS. I’m pretty much purpled out and most of my gear is now has strength, stamina, and some agility attributes.
I’ve respecced my damn tree so many times, I’ve just given up, but I’m willing to try again. BTW, I do like my Seal of Command and everything I’ve read says to keep it.
So, advice for a ret pally who want to do maximum DPS?
I haven’t dual specced yet. I haven’t got the gold to do it.
I’ve completed all the zones in Outland* and have only done a few instances. I just checked my armory page and I have never done the Hellfire instances. But, the problem for most zones won’t be instances, it’ll be the mandatory group quests. You’ll either have to find groups, or greatly out-level the quests. The 5-man quests can be nearly impossible to complete, unless you’re significantly higher level.
The Northrend zones are much more solo friendly.
*Except Netherstorm. I’m still at 111/120. But I think I have some instance quests I can do. And don’t get me started on the Kalimdor achievement.
Just go back to post #733, where I am in the same quandry…click on the links in that post to see what the Elitist Jerks say about max DPS for Ret Pallys.
