I’ve only tried this a couple of times and it worked great. It works a lot better when you know what the item could go for, or does normally. I was selling enchanted vellums with the +spellpower enchant for ~100g each. Of course, near the weekend, it was flooded with the scrolls and they got to as low as 20g per. I snatched up everything under 40g and spent the next week selling them off slowly for 60g+. The best part, besides makin’ some extra cash, is that they do not need a deposit and you can re-list them over and over at no cost to you.
I just wanted to say that I was doing my exploration achievements yesterday and was in Mulgore and saw the Mohawk Night Elf. I laughed so hard! I love the way blizzard does that quirky stuff.
As a night elf myself, it just tickled me pink.
Where do you get mohawk grenades, anyway? I haven’t been able to play since I started seeing those Mr. T ads.
There is one stationed just outside of every starting area. I love them and use them often. Especially on Taurens because of the postion of their heads the Mr. T look is hilarious on them.
Basically you just talk to the guy and he says some funny Mr. T stuff and then gives you the grenades.
I wondered that too. Someone grenaded my bank alt and since I only use him for a few minutes a day, the mohawk lasted almost two weeks.
Is it a limited-time event? I’m probably not going to have a computer that can run WoW until around February, and with my luck, it’s a limited-time event.
I loathe people who don’t know how to undercut. Mega-loathe. With a blinding passion that is almost holy.
This is why I use Auctioneer Advanced.
My first Priest was a Draenei.
She’s back on ET, so I hardly play her anymore, along with a Draenei Hunter I also never play. I’ve got a Draenei Shammy, but she’s a twink.
Good good. I’ve just never not played with health bars up, and I can’t even imagine how to tank without them.
It’s presumably not permanent, but there is no currently stated time frame. Honestly, IMO it was only funny for about the first five minutes–and a lot of that was disappointment, since I was really hoping that it would give your character a mohawk hairstyle, versus just jamming a Night Elf Mohawk head on top of yours. Now I just find it tedious.
I just realized that I pretty much never play her because I like being a DK a lot … =)
I prefer to sell stuff in stacks instead of singly. I prefer to sell in stacks of whatever the recipe or quest call for. There is nothing more annoying than to have to buy x+ a few extra for a quest and not having anything to do with the surplus …
I always undercut on the AH. A sale at a lower price is better than no sale at a higher price.
What cracks me up are when people start talking about how undercutters are “ruining the market”. I hear it a lot in trade chat. Every gold I make on the AH is profit because it only costs me time to get the things I’m selling. So if only get 175g for that epic gem instead of 200g, who cares?
Is anyone here on Earthen Ring?
I don’t use health bars (though maybe I should), but I do have the name-plate things turned on, which lets me click on the name instead of trying to click on the critter’s body, which would make me crazy.
Not that I recall, unfortunately.
Those are what Guns is talking about.
Gotta say I had new appreciation for the badge resets and dungeon finder last night.
My brother-in-law reactivated his account at Thanksgiving (he’d stopped playing just after Wrath launched), started leveling a warrior from level 70, hit 80 last Saturday night and was able to run enough heroics to get badges and gear to off tank TOC 10, Ony 10 and Vault 10 last night. That’s a crazy amount of upgrades in 4 days. And we really needed a new reliable tank for our 10 mans, too.
I almost always undercut. The problem is not undercutting, but undercutting irresponsibly. IMO, it’s deeply stupid to post an auction for 175g when the next highest is 200. The next person to post is going to undercut you regardless of what price you list your item for, so it’s just a question of *how fast *you drive the price down.
I’d much rather see:
200g
199g
197g
195g
Than:
200g
175g
150g
125g
Wouldn’t you?
Almost certainly, the same number of items will be sold, regardless of the price, unless it’s ridiculously inflated. When you undercut by ridiculous amounts, you’re hurting yourself and everyone else.
I think we’re talking about the same thing, aren’t we? It’s a little horizontal bar (red for hostiles, yellow for neutrals) with the level at the right, and a dragon around the level on the Elite ones, with the name over the top. That colored bar represents the mob’s health–as you attack it, you’ll see it drop.
Right. Auctioneer defaults at something like 1% under, I think. Even then, a lot of people using the default for Auctioneer can crash prices pretty quickly.
I guess so. Never really noticed them dropping. Funny the things you filter out.
You can change the default. Back when I started using it (two years ago, probably), I think it was like 15%. These days, I never, ever use the suggested number–I always tweak it, usually to just under the lowest-priced item. (Sometimes, if people have posted things for ridiculously cheap prices so I know they’ll move out fast but don’t want to buy them for resale myself, I’ll ignore those outliers.) I’ll undercut for as little as a single copper sometimes. Rarely will I undercut by more than a few gold, unless I have concrete experience of an item never moving for a price that high. Sometimes I’ll even cooperate with what’s clearly an attempt by another seller to bring the market price of an item back up, e.g. with opposite-faction pets.
Isn’t it though? And now you know.
ETA:
Forgot to mention earlier:
1.) Whoever suggested the Postal addon (**Jas09 **or jayjay, I think), thank you! I’m liking it a lot.
2.) Mister Rik, thanks for the YouTube vids. The Winter Veil song was a perfect take on a Christmas song. And I must have conflated the Ulduar video with another one I saw around the same time–I recognized the vid as soon as it launched, but it was very well done (and amusing).
This has not been my experience. I don’t recall every seeing anyone ask the enchanter DE a BOE item, sure they might end up getting DE (like most of the greens that drop but it generally happens outside the group). Another thing I noticed with the new DE option is that I seem to be accumulating more shards than usual (I frequently just pass on BOP and I usually don’t even bother rolling for shards), now I average about a shard per instance.
You know, it just occurred to me: Borean Tundra and Cairne are both in Emberstorm. It’s too bad you can’t organize cross-server groups/raids. Be fun to play with Guns.
Wait, faction issues. Dangit. :smack:
So if the DE option is better than the alternative, then what is the problem?
Because all that other stuff can be done outside the group, DE on BOP items cannot.
Enchanting was tougher than most at the beginning because people were using all their purples so it was tough to get shards but the change to enchanting did not happen then, it happened now when enchanting can be levelled up for much much less than that, in fact I believe enchanting is one of the cheaper professions to level. I might as well complain that my flying and riding skills got nerfed because people can get them for so much cheaper now and Blizzard has introduced all these new teleportation items into the game.
