Recommended Gems for Ret Pallys, courtesy of Elitist Jerks. I have been following their advice and haven’t been disappointed yet. They will tell you to fulfill your meta requirements, use only one Nightmare Tear and then go +20 strength on everything except where a good +strength bonus can be had when off-red gemming for +10 strength, +hit (or +crit…Inscribed and Etched Amertine, for example). Elitist Jerks will explain it better than I can.
OK I KNOW I’m supposed to drop bombs from the gryph, but I didn’t know it was a timed quest, and now I need to re-aquire, but Kingston isn’t giving me the bombs.
Also, how to release once I do get them and get ready to drop?
Thnks
Quasi
…And now I realize that I think I didn’t need to use a Sovereign Dreadstone since I have a Nightmare Tear in a blue socket…:smack:
Right?
Go into your quest log, bring up the gate quest, and “Abandon”. Then go back to Kingston and he should have the yellow exclamation point over his head.
To use the bombs, you want to drag them onto your action bar. Then, as you’re taking off, right-click on their icon. When you’re close enough to the gates, you’ll get a big green target circle and you can right-click on that. Those kind of quests can be easier if you pull the camera all the way forward so you and your gryphon aren’t blocking your view.
They’ll be in your bags.
Yeah, forgot to mention that.
Also, Quasi, once you throw the first bomb (hopefully successfully), you need to right-click the bombs icon on your action bar again while the gryphon is making that wide turn to get over the other gate across the road. Then do the same thing when the green targeting circle appears. You want your cursor right on the gates each time before you right-click to release.
Thanks Guys!
Having fun in Hellfire! Wish u were here!
Q
right-click to release bombs when I see green circle, yes?
Yes. Remember that you have to get them ready first by right-clicking their icon on your action bar, then release them by right-clicking on the gate when you get close enough to have the green targeting circle.
The green spots on the map mean I’m getting close, right?
I got Murgeth earlier (by accident, maybe) but I thought I left clicked.
Still need Shaargaz.
Gonna try again.
We got 'er dun, jayjay!
Abyssal Shelf is next!
Thanks, Buddy (ies)!
I’ll make it to 80 one of these days!

No, the Silver Covenant dailies open up when you hit exalted with the SC, and you get the Crusader title(and a couple of more dailes) when you have Exalted Champion with all five capitals.
I have this bridge to sell I think you might be interested in…
2,500g? Really? I paid 500g on my recently dinged orc warrior and I intend to replace it with Faceplate of Thunderous Rampage from the badge vendor.
The new Dungeon Finder really is good, even as dps one can usually find a group in less than 10 minutes and the dungeons themselves usually don’t take more than half an hour at most, you should give it a try.
Like Yeticus Rex said, 263, but, that’s against level 83 and Boss mobs, unless you’re in a raid instance you probably won’t run into any of those. Against level 82 mobs you only need 197 hit rating.
A Nightmare Tear counts as (1 each) red, yellow, and blue gems, so you should have one each of the gem colors covered with it.
Congrats! The bombing runs are really fun quests. Abyssal Shelf can be tough…you may need to go back a couple of times to get everything. Don’t worry…just ask the gryphon guy to send you back when you land (I think there’s an option for that in the dialogue). Don’t do the abandon thing on this one.
Dame Evniki Kapsalis (that has to be an anagram…), the Crusader’s Quartermaster, has this to say:
“There are some rewards fit only for those who have attained the title of Crusader, exalted in the eyes of the Argent Crusade as well as all their allied peoples.”
… which doesn’t imply I need to be a Champion with all 5 factions, it just says I need to be exalted with these six factions. Is this another example of Blizzard’s occasionally mangled grammar obfuscating their intent?
On the other hand, my research has been completely unsuccessful at locating an achievement that says, “Reward: Crusader title”, so I haven’t been able to look at actual achievement requirements to clarify.
(My other, most recent, “favorite” quest text confusion: at least three different quests I’ve run across instructing me to visit an NPC at “the smithy’s”. There should be neither an apostrophe nor the letter “s” at the end of that word. A “smithy” is a place where blacksmiths work; it’s not another word for “blacksmith”.)
No, I was serious when I said, “low low price”. I’ve been eyeballing that helm for months now, and 2500g was literally the lowest price I’ve ever seen on it. Amazing the different economies on different servers ![]()
The other thing I’ve been drooling over is the Titanium Razorplate chest armor, which appears to be a crafted item. Huge price variations on that - I’ve seen it as low as ~3000g and as high as ~7000g.
Yeah, I’m just slowly trying to improve my gear enough to be able to do those without feeling completely helpless/useless. According to Wow-Heroes, even after equipping, gemming, and enchanting my new hat my gear score is still only 1750 (for what it’s worth), plus my utter lack of experience in NR instances. I’m hoping to start running instances with my belf pally on Cairne once I get her to 80 - hopefully I can get my fellow BDLegionnaires to give me a bit of training. I’d feel more confident PUGging lvl 80 dungeons on my human pally if I had some previous experience grouping with friends.
In other news, my draenei mage just dinged 50. She’s questing in Searing Gorge ATM. (not the best place for a fire mage - damn near everything there has at least some fire resistance). But I got a bit of a chuckle: holy crap, who’d have thought a “toy” would prove so useful? I remembered I still had my Mechanical Greench in my bags, so I summoned him to get at least some little use out of him before he vanished in 4 more days. That’s when I noticed this “toy” is level 58. And I was fighting level 48-49 mobs with a level 49 mage. So I was in the big cave tackling the incendosaurs (lots of fire resistance on those things), and I discovered that if I crept up on them very carefully, one step at a time, I could get close enough that, while they wouldn’t aggro on me, my little Greench would aggro on them! Little bugger’s quite an effective tank. He’d run up and start smacking the dino, and I’d just wait until he knocked 400-500HP off them and then launch a couple Frostbolts at them. By that point the Greench had usually built up enough threat that even after two frostbolts the dino wouldn’t come after me. After that I just needed to cast Arcane Missiles, and while that would aggro them on me, it was usually enough damage to drop them before they even got to me.
:dubious:
The title of Crusader requires Champion status with all 5 factions, Exalted with all 5 factions and Exalted with Argent Crusade. I think you’re reading mechanics into fluff speak. The title is all you need to pay attention to.
Yup. And as my priest is a Crusader, I can affirm this is the situation.
Well, I knocked the Shelf out. (I think I’m finally gettin’ the hang of this bombing thing) and now I’m in Forge Mageddon, and hey, them Sisters of Grief chicks are pretty hot, huh?
Q
That’s fine if those are the requirements. It’s just that I haven’t seen anybody else at the Argent Tournament explaining it - just this one NPC. Flavor text/fluff speak is fine, but it reads like she’s spelling out the requirements for the Crusader title, or “Here’s what you have to do before you can buy my stuff.” I just wish the game would either give complete and accurate information, or else no information, because incomplete information is just misleading/confusing. Dame Evniki’s words read to me like this:
“… those who have attained the title of Crusader, [that is,] exalted in the eyes of the Argent Crusade as well as all their allied peoples.”
When apparently what she means is:
“… those who have attained the title of Crusader, [that is,] exalted in the eyes of the Argent Crusade as well as all their allied peoples [and have earned Champion status with all of their allied peoples].”
So IMO, she should either spell out the exact requirements so that I know exactly what to do, or leave it at simply “… those who have attained the title of Crusader” and let me be pleasantly surprised when the meta-achievement pops up.
Part of the problem, too, is that the Exalted Argent Champion of the Alliance meta-achievement apparently doesn’t show up in the achievement window until you’ve actually earned it (at least I can’t find it anywhere), so I couldn’t get the information there. I searched “Crusader” and “Crusader title” on Wowhead; “crusader” got me nothing but items and NPCs with “crusader” in their names, and “crusader title” returned nothing at all. I didn’t check WowWiki.
Well, got me, dude.
In other news, there’s a troll lurking about. I got this tonight while doing the fishing daily:
I guarantee I’ve never run with a Dgdg before. That would’ve kinda stuck out to me. If it’s a goldseller, they’re using the most incomprehensible (though surprisingly coherent) tactic I’ve ever seen. More likely it’s just a troll trying to incite some nerdrage. I figured I’d give you all the heads up in case you run across something similar.
