Dunno. I never played any of the RTS games. I just watched that cinematic when someone said it was what you could hear in Undercity.
The one that was originally linked on WoW Insider was pulled by the time I wanted to watch it yesteday (didn’t want to spoil it for myself until the encounter was live), but I found it by doing a quick YouTube search. I think I looked for something like “lich king cinematic.”
Oh yeah, you have fun with Garrosh. I bet he’ll be just great.
Well, the suggestion is that he’s pretty much going to keep things locked down, and everyone is supposed to forget that he exists (Fordring is to bring the message that Fordragon died in the fight with the LK). Which is not to say we won’t end up with “Icecrown Citadel was merely a setback!” a few expansions from now, but they generally wrap the expansion storylines up by this point, at least for this particular arc of the story.
That’s actually a very interesting thought.
Oh, I see what you mean, now. I honestly can’t remember if my interface settings panels are transparent or opaque… Hrm. I’ll poke around when I get home to see if I can find a setting.
As far as the other part goes… There’s no way that your game ever *really *paused you “with no fear of being attacked”–you just got lucky, so you never found out that you could be. Without logging out of a character completely, there is no way to “pause” the game or otherwise remove yourself from the action. It’s just not a game mechanic, and there’s no way to “fix” it because nothing’s different. Just remember not to bring up a game menu without being somewhere relatively safe, and it won’t be a problem.
That’s one of the biggest differences between a game that you play on your own, on your computer, versus an MMO that you play on a game server. It’s annoying if you’re used to being able to pause the game whenever you want, but when you think about it, it makes sense. Imagine someone’s in a raid and taking a lot of damage. What would happen if they paused? The other people in their group would have as much time as they needed to heal them up, etc. It would completely break the game. As long as there are other people in the world, the world needs to keep going. When you’re the only “person,” only then can you pause, because when you’re not there, the whole world pauses or goes away.
SFG, you’re totally awesome!
What you wrote makes a lot of sense (which kinda surprised me a little:D).I appreciate your taking care of the three of us!

That reminds me of a joke:
The evening before a young woman’s wedding, her rather old-fashioned mother gave this advice: “Never let your husband see you completely naked.” A few weeks after the wedding, the newlyweds were getting ready for bed, and the young woman’s husband asked her, “Say, is there any history of … mental illness … in your family?” “No, why do you ask?” she replied. “Well …” he said, “I’ve just been trying to figure out why you wear that hat to bed every night …”
I do have a stack of Fish Feasts that I carry around, specifically for my occasional forays into BGs

Reread the last line of the post you quoted.
Librams, Totems, Idols and Sigils are all the same in that there are no random drops of them (ie - Sigil of the Bear) and there is only one ancient level 60 relic that is BOE, so the auction house is out too. The relevant grades can drop in some Outland instances & raids, and 25-man Naxxramas or 25-man Ulduar, but as they’re just single items on large drop tables of specific bosses, I wouldn’t recommend bothering with the drop method. The main source of Relics are the emblem vendors. Every rank of emblem vendor (Heroism, Valor, Triumph, etc) has a spread of Relics to fit each of their classes’ roles, but the quality of such varies wildly. For instance, the Heroism libram is generally considered to be the best option for Holy paladins. For ret, you can’t go wrong with the Triumph libram which these days is practically a freebie with how Triumph badges rain from the heavens.
I begin to understand why Death Knights are almost universally crap in Outland. It’s not got anything to do with the player (although there are certainly idiot players), but everything to do with the fact that they’re still newbies to the class and the class is fuggin’ OP.
When we were doing the guild run in the Ramparts tonight, it seemed like I was an overgrown infant who could kick everyone else’s ass. I ran behind a marked enemy to DPS, I got Feared and aggroed the next spawn. I Death Gripped a mage into the middle of Consecration, right as the Pally ran to where the mage originally was. When we attacked Gargolmar, I accidentally cast Hysteria on the Priest instead of the Hunter. When we attacked Omor, I successfully cast Hysteria on the Hunter…who proceeded to generate so much threat that he took aggro from the tank, and because of Hysteria was already losing life. Dead Hunter.
Granted, I’m exaggerating my screwups, and other than that one death it was a clean run. But I see now how easy it is to make mistakes with a DK, and due to their strength relative to other level 60s those mistakes are that much more magnified.
My Mage is just about to ding 51, and I think I’ll just work on getting him up to speed instead. Ranged DPS is a little less frenetic anyway.
That was almost exactly my first experience grouping with a DK in Outland. We were just killing ogres in Nagrand, and I’d run up to an ogre and start whacking on it, only to have the DK Death Grip it away from me before I could get a second hit in.
The second DK I ever grouped with must have just felt invincible, because every time we’d finish a quest she’d just haul ass in a relatively straight line back to the questgiver or the nearest road, aggroing absolutely everything along the way. Part of the problem was that we’d kill the last mob and she’d instantly mount up and take off, leaving me to try to catch up and deal with all the cranky mobs in her wake …
to be honest, the best class to be a preDK in is warlock … you get the pet experience, and many of the DK spells are sort of similar to the lock with respect to agro management and pulling, and control. Although hunter has the pet thing going for it also.
I just found it rather similar to play a DK and a lock after spending so much time playing locks.
So I’m about to hit 60 frosties again with Muzungu (as of the next daily I run), and I’m debating whether to get the trinket (replacing Ick’s Rotting Thumb), or the belt (replacing the Shieldwarder Girdle). The belt will be + some armor, + about 60 strength and 84 stamina with gems; the trinky will represent a trade of 113 dodge rating for 228 stam. In either case, it’ll be about another month before I can get another such upgrade. I’m leaning towards the trinket right now, because lots more health is good.
Boss, I thought you did fine last night on your DK. We had too solid runs - the second time we substituted our Spriest for the DK. I rushed a few pulls on the second run (pulling big packs of mobs) but we were able to handle it. I also got more used to running right up to casters instead of trying to pull them to us – that mixup you mention was my fault: I asked you to Deathgrip the casters and then I tried to run over to the one you were about to pull.
I got a pretty decent chestpiece - actually it would be awesome for a holy pally (it has +int and mp5), but the 3 gem slots mean I was able to load up on Stam, strength and Defense so it’s a huge upgrade from the Dire Maul chest I had. Seemed like a lot of decent loot dropped, but it may just because of the jump in gear when you get to Outland.
On that run I discovered that it’s pretty damn hard as a shadow priest to pull aggro off of the tank; not that I was trying, but I did one time pull the “asshole over-level dps” tactic of deliberately targeting the mob without the skull on him to see if I could burn him down on my own, and he died before he aggroed on me.
Yea gods, I’d forgotten how tedious it is to level a gathering profession. I’m coming up on 340 Mining now, though. Hopefully I’ll make it to 450 sometime tonight or tomorrow; then I can work on gathering the mats that I’ll need to powerlevel JC.
Unfortunately, the reason I’ve had all this time the past two days is that I’m sitting out on ICC again this week. There were some other people the RL wanted to give a chance to get in, which is understandable, but it still sucks for me. The raid dropped Valitherwhatsherface, too (or rather, anti-dropped her… raised her?).
Hey! You just watch yourself, mister. ![]()
IMO, *absolutely *go for the trinket. You’re trading a mediocre stat (Dodge) for the single best one for tanks (Stamina). That trinket was actually the first Frost badge item I bought on Sleu.
just started off a Belf 'lock. I am planning to take 2 of the gathering professions for cash flow reasons. Are there any 2 it would be more advantageous to take? I.e. skinning for the crit boost with master of anatomy etc.
Whatever you do, don’t take Mining and Herbalism. You can only have one type of tracking active at a time, so you’d have to constantly switch between tracking herbs and tracking minerals. I tried it once on a DK, and it drove me batshit crazy. So pair up Skinning with one or the other; IME, herbs tend to sell more consistently than ore (and Herbalism is also less tricksy to level, since you get all your points from the gathering, versus Mining, where you constantly have to run back to a forge).
I would definately take skinning for one. It’s very fast to level and easy to keep pace with, and doesn’t require your minimap to track it. On top of that either mining or herbalism will work.
The problem with mining or herbalism, beside the fact that you can’t track them at the same time, is that it’s so easy to level out of a zone before your gathering skill is high enough for the next zone. That’s why my 50-level lock only has about 211 skill in mining; she just levelled too fast and I haven’t spent the time to go back to lower leveled zones to skill up.
I believe with sufficient skill in mining comes a toughness boost. Is there anything similar for Herbalism, and is the toughness boost at all useful for a Belf 'lock?
The cinematic is now available on wowwiki, under Bolvar Fordragon’s article:
Somehow it isn’t… Well, as climactic as I’d hoped. Wrathgate was a tearjerker. This was just kinda… Meh.
Even worse with BoA gear and the dungeon finder. My 64 Druid is stuck in Azerothian-level herbalism because I just can’t be arsed to go back to Tanaris or wherever just to pick flowers when I can get a pretty much instant 5-man.
Herbalism gives a self-heal, which is actually pretty damn useful while leveling but probably completely worthless for raiding.
This is doubly true if you start running a lot of instances. I was keeping up pretty well on my baby pally (alch/herbs), but then I learned that tanks at lower levels are just as much in demand as tanks at level 80…
