I believe this will be Rumpole’s last outing with the weekly alt group, as Azraq (my baby paladin) dinged 62 last night.
So you’re going to swap out Rumpole for Azraq? It’ll be nice to be able to have multiple auras/blessings up at the same time.
I’ll be there if I can. I really ought to get Cyranus up to 64 and respec my offspec into Arcane to get a taste of this OP DPS everyone keeps talking about.
That is the plan; partially so I can shoot Rumpole ahead and try healing/ranged dpsing on the late-game stuff.
Wolkie and Silka in SW after just having trained up (at level ahem 67) standing still and lookin’ cute for a photo op.
(Someone once told me how to get rid of the writing on a screen shot, but I forgot, sorry!:()
Quasi
I beleive Alt+Z gets rid of all the stuff on the screen so you get a nice pretty photo of just you and the scenery but I’m not certain. Someone will be along to confirm or correct me I’m sure.
Nice pic Quasi! That’s a good-looking outfit.
I’ve been reading up on mana-tombs to be prepared for the run tonight and Pandemonius (first boss) has a shield that I WANT.
Confirming. It is, indeed, Alt+Z.
Ok…question on something I encountered last night. I was doing my daily random dungeon to get my two daily emblems, and got put in a group going thru Utgarde Keep. I am a lvl 71 Ret Pally. We all show up and the tank announces this is her first time here - she was lvl 69 - possibly a DK, but I’m not sure.
We just kept getting killed.
The group was very friendly amongst each other…helping the new tank with where to go etc. No one would get upset when we died (less than everyone) or if we wiped. We’d just rez and keep going. But it was taking forever.
I quickly realized that I was grabbing aggro from the tank rather easily…so I tried to hold back, but then we’d die. The tank kept saying how great the healer was, but I wasn’t so sure.
Not sure what I should have done here…it took forever to get into a group (being DPS in the low 70’s levels means about a 30-40 min wait for a group on my server). So I didn’t want to bail for another group…
just wondering if there was something else I could have done, or if it was just the tank and/or healer…
Not sure if this is really enough info for anyone to figure out…but thought I’d post anyways.
We did end up having to abandon at the end after our third wipe trying to kill Ingvar the Plunderer, as I was out of time and had to get to bed…
Lips, what was causing the wipes? Was the tank not keeping aggro, so the dps would get killed quickly? Or was the tank holding onto aggro well enough, but dying quickly despite the heals?
I don’t know too much about DK tanking, but I know they can be tough to heal if they do not have the right spec or are not using the right abilities.
Yeah, early DK tanking requires chaining CDs towards the beginning of pulls as much as possible so that they don’t get burst down. Obviously, it’s tough to comment on your particular situation because I have no idea what the makeup was like or the relative gear/skill level of those players. As for Ingvar, it’s just important to make sure that the healer doesn’t get silenced and people LoS the shout in the second phase as much as possible. However, with (what seems like) an undergeared tank/healer combo, that is a tough fight, to be sure. Better luck next time, and at least you got a group of people who were patient and willing to work with each other. Believe me, things could be worse.
Sometimes when I’m dpsing with my pally and the tank/heals seem to be having trouble keeping up, I throw a few extra holy lights on the tank to help keep him topped up. That seems like about the only thing you could have done (if you weren’t already) to help.
This is my guess. With level 69, she probably got to Northrend a level or two ago, and most likely soloed from 58 to 67/68 in Outland. The DK may well have a DPS spec. Also, DKs can chew through most anything soloing, but need to know their stuff to be an effective tank.
I’d say it was a mix 50/50 of me dying first or the tank dying first and then me dying quickly thereafter when aggro switched to me…
I did try and watch the tank and keep him healed if I could, but a lot of the time I was just concentrating on cranking out my DPS.
This raises another point for me. I have my main offensive spells keybound and I use an addon (forget which one) that puts a timer on each button so I know when it’s ready for use again. It seems I end up watching my button bar (for the timers) more than I can watch the fight. I think this situational awareness (or lack thereof) can hurt me at times, like if the enemy(s) move to where I am no longer facing them, I don’t see the message that I am turned around. I am using bartender for my bars…and have them at the bottom of the screen. Should i move them somewhere else? Or another suggestion?
Use a timer addon that can be placed elsewhere on the screen, instead. I think ClassTimers is one that was mentioned before; I’ve also had Cooldown Timers 3 recommended to me.
As mentioned, central Desolace.
Also look into the caves in eastern Arathi Haighlands, the Ogre caves in Alterac Mountains, northern Stranglethorn Vale, the Wyvernn nesting area in Thousand Needles, parts of the Badlands (the zone just south of Loch Modan), and sometimes around the edges of the Swamp of Sorrows and Dustwallow Marsh.
All of those have wildlife in their 30’s, so be carefull.
Seconded! Especially if you’re 60, like me!
Q
Did you have Righteous Fury up? That will pull aggro off even a pretty good tank. I think ret paladins use it when questing/soloing, and sometimes they forget to turn it off for instancing.
No, I did not. I generally use a rotation of judgement of light, exorcisim, divine storm, crusaders strike, consecration until they are at 20% or less, and then finish with Hammer of Wrath to kill… I will sometimes skip consecration depending on my mana level because of it’s cost.
I would’ve left out consecration with a DK tank – it takes some time for a DK to generate area threat, and the consecrate may have been pulling the secondary targets onto you.
