World of Warcraft General Discussion

WhAt bOtHeRs Me Is ThE JaCkAsSeS wHo CaNt SeEm To WrItE a NoRmAl WoRd.

Don’t know much about questhelper, but some items required for quests are crafted items that you can only get from a player with the right skill - for instance there’s a quest in Ashenvale that calls for a Deadly Blunderbuss, which only Engineers can make - if you’re not an Engineer you either need to find one to make it for you or buy one at the AH. Don’t know if that’s the deal with the quest you’re talking about.

I have had 2 in my bags for several months now and I cannot seem to meet up with a lock pick to open them. What else can I do - destroy them?

Thanks

I have done that quest, luckily I found a nice person who did it for mats only. This particular quest calls for a bolt of woolen cloth and a Hillman’s cloak. Do I need a tailor or something? I suppose I should check the quest out in Thottbot.

Bolts of cloth are made by tailors (out of regular cloth), though you sometimes find them in treasure chests. I think Hillman’s stuff is made by leatherworkers, actually.

If you really can’t find someone to pick them for you, you can sell them to a vendor or auction them; I have no idea what the going rates for lockboxes are or if anyone actually buys them on the AH. In any case, you can get at least a little return on them instead of just destroying them.

I had one. I couldn’t auction it because it was a lootable item, or so the system told me.

Interesting. I wonder why Blizzard decided to make it work (or not work) that way.

I suppose it would be possible for someone to pick a lockbox, check out the item inside it, and then not loot it and instead auction the lockbox if they didn’t like the item.

Still, Quasi, you can at least sell the boxes to a vendor if you’ve already tried asking around for a rogue to help you out with them.

Well, you could give 'em a couple seconds of fight, anyway. :stuck_out_tongue: You could probably take one down in a group, but I wouldn’t try it on your own for quite a while.

The fight’s just for ambiance. Move along, little dogies.

Hey, **you **did all the work–we just gave a point in the right direction.

My pocket healer made a guild called, IIRC, < the WAREWOLFS Rising > back on Borean Tundra as a joke. He’d advertise for it in Trade chat on an alt, just to see the hilarious responses from people trying to tell him that he spelled it wrong. He even, shockingly, had some people join. Most of them wandered off after a few days (or after they saw there was nothing in the gbank to ninja), but I think a few are still there.

As has been observed, there are some quest items (mainly, or perhaps exclusively, in the old world) that have to be created by players. However, you can still get rid of that marker on your map, if it’s bugging you (at least until you relog or reload your UI). Right-click the marker, then select either “Ignore” or “Ignore this location.” The former will hide the quest from your map entirely; the latter will just stop marking that particular spot to complete it.

If you really wanted to, you could, but they’ll have a green item in there, at least. A better bet is to advertise in Trade chat with the kinds of lockboxes you have, and/or the lockpicking skill required to open them. Rogues need to open boxes to get their skill up, so a lot of them will be happy to do it, especially if you offer a tip. Otherwise, you can watch Trade chat whenever you’re in a capital city, and you might actually find someone advertising lockpicking services.

Good thing you DPSed. I do have a Ret spec, but I haven’t spent any points in it in at least 15 levels and haven’t ever dpsed on that toon. I probably wouldn’t have been very good!

Too bad about outleveling us. You’ll have to roll a DK

I think we can do Crypts next week, although it’s still orange for me in the DF and I’m at the minimum recommended level. Depending on the group, we may decide to just do a Random from the BC dungeons we’ve already done.

Also, anyone who wants to do Black Morass with us (after Crypts) needs to do the questline to unlock it – including me. Where does that start?

Is that the one that you helped me out on, with the three dudes in Shattrath? If so, it starts just outside the entrance to the Crypts.

It’s been a long time, but I think you just need to do the CoT: Durnholde quest to get Thrall out.

Is it? I remember doing that chain on my main, but I don’t remember how it ended. I know I’ve never done BM.

Black Morass is completely unconnected to that quest, as far as I can remember. To unlock BM, you need to do Durn.

D’oh! I was reading the list wrong. It’s Durnholde we have to do, not Black Morass. BM is a level 70 dungeon that we’ll get to eventually.

And it looks like to do Durn, you just need to do a quest that shows you around the Caverns of Time. So it should be easy to get that out of the way.

Isn’t that the quest you get from the dragon at the enterance? He flys you down and someone takes you on a walking tour that opens everything up.

Ok, I have been leveling my JC since I decided that engineering was a waste of my time and gold… I’ve gotten myself to JC skill 426 now…

I know there are a ton of JC leveling guides, I’ve referred to a couple of them to find good choices for items to make to level. But are there any good references where I can learn more about the skill itself, recipes, etc???

Right, that won’t take long, especially if you can take the portal from Dalaran to the Cavern to cut down your travel time.

Wowhead and WoWWikiare where I pull my information from.

Like SFG I use wowhead, my priest is 20 and a jc. This link to Jewelcrafting Items shows everything a jewlcrafter can create from 20 to 30 a priest can use, I then check the list for anything good for my spec. I have one of these Amulet of the Moon in my bags waiting for me to ding 25.
