Humans are fortunate. They can buy mounts in Eastvale Logging Camp, or Theramore, or Southshore, or Menethil Harbor.

I didn’t do much yesterday except do dailies on my main, and then spend some time in Outland working toward Loremaster. I’m now 22 quests away from On the Blade’s Edge. Once I’ve finished that, I just need to do Netherstorm, where I’ve done exactly one quest on this toon. One thing about going back and doing all these Outland quests is I’m finding all sorts of cool clothes for my paladin to wear when she’s not in combat
Tomorrow night’s weekly dungeon run is Auchindoun: Auchenai Crypts. Recommended level is 65-67 but if you’re a little higher or a little lower, that’s okay.
I created an event on the guild calendar, so please sign up ahead of time if you can.
Woo, Lich King-10 down last night! That is a fun fight.
Ironic part: our guild has several regular 10 mans that go every week, and my mage main is in one of them. We’d already cleared up to LK on Tuesday and were going to spend last night working on him, but one of our two tanks had something come up at the last minute and couldn’t go. Because all the other geared tanks were already saved, I volunteered to bring my alt DK tank (who’s tanked ICC25, so he’s probably the best or second best-geared alt tank in the guild)…which meant that my mage had to sit out the fight. I joked that it would be amusing if my alt ended up getting the Kingslayer title before my main…
Well, I’d never tanked LK before. In fact, our group had never made it past phase 2 before. But our 25 man had had a breakthrough the other night that was getting us further along, so after several wipes (a couple of which were me getting used to tanking the fight), we managed to claw our way through phase 2 and into phase 3–uncharted territory, except for the strats we’d read and videos we’d watched. We’re fighting him, moving around, doing our best to stay out of Defiles…getting him down to 14%…13…12…11… (you only have to get him to 10 and you win)…and… (don’t read the following if you don’t want to be spoiled about the end of the fight):
suddenly he drops a Defile on our main tank and slams his sword into the ground…and we all die! We’re all going “WTF??” on Vent…a 1% wipe…how horrible!..and the one guy in the group who’d actually killed him before yells “Don’t release! We’ve WON!”
And he’s right! The RP commences, the cut scene, and the “LK Pinata” afterward…
…and my alt has the Lich King kill before my main. Wow, what a rush. Haven’t had that much fun on a boss fight since Illidan. I want to do it again–this time on my main! But it’s kind of nice to know that my tanking is good enough to do this fight, which is not easy. Felt pretty good.
Cheers winterhawk! Yeah, that fight is totally fun and a truly epic ending to the expansion. I always thought Blizzard dropped the ball in how they handled Illidan (though I loved Sunwell Plateau), and am glad that ICC is proving a different story. Good luck in 25 and Heroic modes!
My guild got him down this past reset, and are looking to finally take him down in 25-man this reset. Lag was absolutely horrendous for us during regular 25-man raid times this past week, but last night we were able to finally get to a point where we were consistently transitioning to Phase 2.5/3. Now, we just need to do it again this week, and if we are lag-free I think we will have him down this week. Here’s hoping.
How’s your Consortium rep? If you get the gem back, check that. Otherwise, do you have a friend with Jewelcrafting who could Prospect some ore for you?
Nope. Peninsula is from the Latin “paene insula,” literally “almost island.” Penis is apparently from the Latin “penis,” which is “tail.”
Eh, little Column A, little Column B…
Here’s what I can tell you from my 40-something Hunter:
Tenacity: Takes more damage, puts out more threat (especially AOE), has more health, does less damage.
Ferocity: Puts out more damage, can take less damage, puts out less threat (and generally only against one target at a time), has less health
As a BM Hunter, I used to travel with a Tenacity pet while soloing, but it got to be a pain to have to hearth back to a Stable Master to swap out to a Ferocity one for an random instance, so I decided to just try questing with my Fero pet. Surprisingly, the Fero pet was able to hold aggro just fine against a single-target enemy. The only thing I have to watch out for is a multi-mob pull: the pet doesn’t have any AOE abilities, so it’s only generating threat on what it’s currently got targeted. Even healing aggro (from Mend Pet) can peel extras off if I’m not careful.
Caveat: As an MM Hunter, you’re probably putting out more threat than I am, and your pets are probably less robust. It could be that you’d need to stick with a Tenacity pet. Or you could like to AOE a lot, in which case you’d definitely want Tenacity.
Well, when you think about it, SM is actually really long, too–it’s just set up as wings, which the random LFG only matches one at a time these days. A lot of the old instances were pretty interminable (FUCKING WAILING CAVERNS I’M LOOKING AT YOU RIGHT NOW).
I’ll send myself a reminder to put together a suggested spec when I get home. (I can’t get to any talent calculators from work.)
To hold threat in a group as a Prot Warrior:
1.) Thunder Clap every time it’s up. (Also Shockwave, once you hit 60.)
2.) Use Cleave to replace Heroic Strike for any group of two or more mobs.
3.) Tab-target or manually select a new target after every attack. I.e., hit a mob with Devastate, Tab, hit the next mob with Revenge, Tab, hit the next one with Shield Slam, etc.
Grats… and I’m so sorry. Best of luck! Sounds like you’ve got a group of like-minded people, though, which should be great.
It’s Shield Slam, and yes, it’s the most beautiful thing on the planet. Or near to. (Shockwave comes pretty close, anyway.) Not to be confused with Shield Bash, which is an interrupt/silence, and also pretty nifty.
It’s a Warrior’s highest-threat ability, and as such, it should be used (a) as your opener, always, and (b) whenever it’s off cooldown (which happens a lot more once you can pick up the Sword and Board talent). However, it’s definitely not a “one shot and you’re done” thing.
If you can spare the glyph slot for it, which you probably can while leveling (or even at 80, if you’re tanking 5-mans and not raids), that’s an *excellent *threat glyph.
Shield Slam’s definitely #1 right now, for any Prot War. The other ones kind of juggle around, depending on your gear (especially set bonuses) and Talents. Revenge has actually fallen off the list for a lot of players, especially endgame raiders who no longer take Imp Revenge, but that’s due to change with the next patch. Concussion Blow used to be in the priority list, too, but I’m not sure where it is anymore since the last change. Shockwave might even be higher than it now, even on a single target.
The first time I did WC, I somehow missed getting one of the gems. I got back to whatsername on Elder Rise and I didn’t have a clickable “Complete Quest” button in the dialogue. I checked my bags and I just wanted to sit down and cry, because I really didn’t want to go through that whole damn thing again…
/woot, just found out my wife is taking the kids to her parents’ this weekend. So I’ll have Friday evening, all day Saturday and most of Sunday to get my WoW fix.
Apparently this is Arts & Crafts For Retards Week, starring Bosstone. :smack:
I’ve been leveling up my Blacksmithing for the socket bonuses. I finally got to where I needed Saronite, so I yanked all my ore out of the bank and went to smelt it. …I don’t have the option to smelt Saronite despite having 450 Mining. Dur hur, I forgot to train it. So I mosey on over to the Mining Trainer and notice I’ve got a few things I never trained, like Smelt Khorium, Smelt Titanium, and…Smelt Titansteel?
Somehow it never actually clicked for me that Titansteel was made with the Mining skill. And it’s only JUST clicking for me, JUST as the cooldown on Titansteel is being removed, that I could have been churning this stuff out daily! I could have been making a fortune! :smack: :smack: :smack: :smack: Even now, after the news on losing the cooldown, Titansteel Bars are still selling for 107g minimum on Cairne. And I’ve got a nearly full stack of Titanium ore sitting in the bank.
Honestly, I pride myself on being a studious and observant learner, vowing not to make rookie mistakes when there’s so much information out there. But…somehow…I miss stupidly, ridiculously, painfully obvious things.
At the moment nothing gets near me even if my cat (Darwin let’s give him some credit and a name here) loses threat but the most mobs I have taken on is two so maybe when I move over to Hillsbrad I’ll tame a bear for a bit. Tenacity pets don’t look as good as a cat\raptor\spider in my opinion.
Grats winterhawk11!
I finally have epic flying on my main – after a couple of nights off I found I could go back to the Hodir quest grind where I picked up enough cash on the way to train and buy a swift purple griffon.
