I definitely got at least some caster gear in my goodie bags when I was levelling my baby pally. (Now I’m trying to remember if any of it was actual armor as opposed to necklaces/rings).
That’s encouraging. It seemed like my lock always got good caster gear, but everything my pally gets is str/stam/agil. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky so far.
I generally carry around 5 stacks of normal ammo for trash and 5 stacks of “top of the line” ammo at any given time. My hunch is basically 1k ammo per hour of raiding.
For a more detailed answer, during roughly 3 hours of 10-man raiding on Sunday I fired 3,068 shots total (autos and specials), not including Volley (which I’m not sure uses ammo) but including the Zod’s proc (which I think does - there were about 150 of those). So I guess my hunch was pretty close… data here if you’re really bored.
That also doesn’t include Serpent Sting or Black Arrow, which I’m pretty sure use one arrow at application, because it’s hard for me to suss out how many were “shot” from the logs.
The 10 stacks is for security, since I will never forget that fateful moment during my first 5-man (Zul’Farrak) when I ran out of ammo and had to become the dreaded melee huntard. :o
ETA: Just realized that was a raid that was mainly just wipes on Sindragosa. Here’s a log with some actual boss kills. It used 3,438 “shots” in 3 hours. The upshot? Hunters use a lot of ammo while raiding… thank Og it’s going away in Cata.
Don’t forget–Mages can decurse, too. (And should be, IMO.) I forget if any other classes can do it.
Druids and resto shamans that are spec’d into it (which they should be) can also decurse.
Odd Herbalism observation -
My mage has been questing in Zangarmarsh, and after seeing mostly Felweed in Hellfire Peninsula*, I was both puzzled and annoyed to find that Zangarmarsh seems to be mostly filled with Azerothian herbs, like blindweed and golden sansam (though it occurs to me that perhaps these are actually native Draenor herbs - in Azeroth they appear mostly in the areas where the orcs first appeared, like Swamp of Sorrows). Once I had full stacks of several different herbs and went to post them on the AH, I discovered that, while felweed was going for around 7g/stack, the blindweed and golden sansam were going for 20g+. I was no longer annoyed
Re: my mage’s tailoring - I want to make her a Flying Carpet, but doggonit, that Golden Draenite is remarkably scarce on the AH. Found 2, need 4. (Also, the bare Golden Draenite was selling for 11g, while the cut gems made from it were all going for around 50 silver. I can see why JC is so expensive to level.) I also find it somewhat irritating that the Master Tailoring trainers don’t teach anything past skill level 335, and so leveling to 375 pretty much has to come from purchased and/or found patterns. The relevant patterns seem to have low drop rates, and don’t appear much on the AH. Looks like it’s Imbued Netherweave Bags for me…
- It occurred to me as I was typing “peninsula” to wonder if “peninsula” and “penis” share the same root. That would make a … certain amount of sense. (Yeah, I was reading one of the blowjob threads before I came here.)
My recollection from when BC launched was that the Azerothian herbs weren’t there initially. I wondered if their “retcon” explanation for adding them in was that they were being brought in through the Portal by immigrants into this new world.
That’s the correct lore reason. Seeds can be carried by adventurers and settlers. That’s why Azerothian plants can be found in Outland but you won’t see Thorium or Mithril at all.
I should ding lvl 40 tonight on my warrior. Do I get the Plate proficiency automatically, or is there a quest involved? I already have a couple of pieces of plate in my packs that I want to wear asap.
Also, will I have to go all the way back to Eastvale for my new mount or are there other horse sellers?
The new armor-wearing ability is automatic - though I forget if you have to train it or not, but there’s no quest. :smack: Also, if the Alliance are anything like the Horde, that’s your only option for buying a horse.
Yes you get the ability to wear plate automatically.
You should use your own faction mount sellers as you’ll get a discount based on your reputation so yes I recommend going back to Eastvale.
Thanks for all the replies on this, played for an hour or so last night I was starting to notice the change with my peripheral vision so good there.
Ghostlands second time round is very easy, either Hunters are OP at this level or I have learnt a bit since I levelled my first toon there. I have died once and I’m level 14 already though my pet has taken the bullet for me a couple of times. I can’t wait to try out traps next, I think level 16 is the first one, and to tame a spider.
I have read up a but on levelling pets and have conflicting information, most sites say Tenacity but some say Ferocity? Much in it? I’m levelling Marksmanship and I’m not too bothered about getting to 80 any time soon, so far I have picked pets on looks.
I did some running around last night so finally my flight paths are connected all the way from the Undercity to Stranglethorn Vale. Also I hit 40 with my rogue and picked up my epic mount, an Ocrhe Undead Warhorse. I was thinking about going with something different for my epic mount but none of the options appealed to me.
I also ran Uldaman for the first time on my rogue. It’s been a long time since I ran that one. Seemed like a fairly long dungeon especially since I was getting used to the short Scarlet Monastery runs. We wiped once cause the tank pulled too many foes, and I managed to be the last one standing and even took down an extra elite before getting mobbed. Vanish does have its uses in dungeons.
Other than the wipe it was a great run, despite the fact that our first tank vanished half way through, and our second tank was probably a 10 year old, we had a good healer and dps, who were keeping the run going. I consider any completed run to be great, since I’ve seen quite a few runs fall apart within minutes of starting.
One thing I have noticed, ever since Deadmines, there has been almost nothing in decent leather gear dropped. I’ve seen tons and tons of cloth drops and a few mail and plate, but I’ve only seen maybe 1 piece of leather drop per run, and half the time its healing leather. What instances are recommended for getting some nice leather gear?
Try this site for instance gear The Rogue loot List this link for rogues but it covers all classes.
Well, it’s basically a trade-off for speed vs. survivability. A ferocity pet and you will kill things faster. But a tenacity pet will keep threat off you and let you burn down multiple mobs at a time. All in all, now that all tenacity pets have Thunderstomp, I’d grab the first tenacity pet you can find and go to town. You can buy a stable spot and keep a ferocity pet there for 5-mans if you want, but that’s not really necessary either.
You do in fact have to train it, so you’ll need to truck back to Stormwind or some place anyway before you can wear your new shinies.
6 minute flight to Stormwind, train, pick up the new Horsie and hearth back then!
Any other cool new skills to look forward to as a lvl 40 warrior? Also any suggested optimal specs for a prot warr? I have been spending exclusively on prot, basically going off what I mainly use for PvE. May not be optimum for dungeons. I have trouble holding threat.
It’s been quite a Warcraft week for me.
I’m now the guild leader of my guild and have decided to take it in quite a different direction.
We now raid two nights a week, for just two hours each night. Our guild’s byline is: Conquering Icecrown, Two Hours at a Time.
The two guys that originally formed the guild have realised that they want more hardcore raiding, and a new guild has recently transferred onto our server to do just that. Looking at the members we had left, it seemed a different approach to raiding was needed, as most of us have a lot of real life commitments that make longer raiding nights difficult. With the ability to extend the raid ID, we can take our time to progress at our own pace.
The new concept has had a good reception from the existing guild base so far and we had our first ‘official’ Icecrown 10man last night which went really well.
I’m going to need to start recruiting soon, as one of our tanks is about to become a daddy for the first time. So I’m hoping there will be a few more out there in warcraft land that would like to do shorter raids.
If I recall correctly, level 40 gives you shield smash or something like that; whatever it’s called, it is YOUR FRIEND when it comes to holding threat - basically, lay one of those on your primary target and you pretty much don’t have to worry about the DPS pulling him off of you ever.
Other than that, if you don’t already have the glyph of sunder armor, get it asap; it’s been a long time (and many patches) since I played my prot warrior, but having the extra sunders splashing onto your off targets helps increase your threat considerably.
In general, look at your powers and see which ones say “generates extra threat” and try to use those as much as possible - shield smash, sunder, and revenge are the biggies, along with heroic strike or cleave if you have a lot of rage.
Also, as a warrior tank you can’t just whack your primary target (unlike paladins or later death knights who have tons of area of effect attacks); you need to tab around and hit the others in any group that you’ve pulled as well; something like pull primary target, shield smash, then tab to #2 sunder sunder tab to #3 revenge sunder tab to #4 shield smash again tab back to #1 and keep the sunders and revenges going.
sandra, if you were on my server, I would definitely want to do that. Good luck!
Hit 30 with my baby pally last night. Biggest moment of triumph: soloing nine (9!) miners at the same time while going after Miner Hacket in Hillsbrad. Not on purpose. They were all about one level lower than me, but still not bad. Very different than leveling my priest or lock.
