World of Warcraft General Discussion

Yup, it’s called Pound, if you have Deadly Boss Mods or something similar running, it should warn you when that’s about ready to come up. Usually it seems like it’s pallies or DKs (non ranged, not likely to get behind the MOB like rogues) who get pwned by that, when I’ve seen it happen.

Release-and-run is good (IMO: required) for ToC but yes, there are few other times where it could be helpful during the boss fight.

I really used to hate that fight. I got locked out once, too, and I was healing. FYI, the only heal that you can cast from outside the barrier is Prayer of Healing, which heals your whole party (but probably not long enough to survive the fight). CoH might work if you target yourself; I don’t remember if I tried that.

Is that something to do with the range? I’ve only had a healer locked out once (a Tree, I think) and we got our heals just fine.

My memory is hazy, because it was a long time ago. I thought it was because of line of sight but possibly it was a range issue.

Ooh, I almost forgot – reminder that the Burning Dog Legion weekly Wednesday night dungeon run is tonight, 8:45 server (CT).

I’d like to run CoT: Durnholde again if everyone is agreeable. I need to kill Don Carlos for his hat (the quest is non-shareable but you can get it in the graveyard just east of Gadgetzan). Also, I know some of our regulars need to do Durnholde to unlock the next CoT instance, Black Morass.

I got this in the mail yesterday and apparently I am supposed to use a cell phone to activitate it, but when I enter the code, I get a message telling me that the number isn’t valid.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Wait time on WOW is 45-50 minutes!

Thanks

Quasi

You shouldn’t need a cell phone to activate it, Quasi. When I got mine, I went to the Blizzard WoW community website, clicked on “Manage Account”, found the “Add an Authenticator” link, and followed that. It should ask for the serial number on the sticker on the back of the authenticator, and when you enter that, it will lock that authenticator into your account.

After that, when you log in, you’ll see TWO “password” boxes. The first one, under your account name, is for your regular password. The one under that is for the authenticator number. Hit the button on the authenticator when you’re ready to input that, and just type that number into the box. Then hit Submit (I think that’s the button).

Also, don’t forget to check your mail when you get ingame the first time after you activate the authenticator. You should get a gift pet from Blizzard (a cute li’l lava hound!).

Agreed, I think the “cell phone” reference is for people who have “smart phones” that you can download apps to - Blizzard has an authenticator application for people where you plug the serial number in to make it work. Quasi, follow jayjay’s advice - hit the official WoW site, find the link for managing your account - it’ll probably take you to a battle.net page during the process - and activate it there.

You guys (and wimmens:))!!! Don’t know WHAT I’d do without y’all! :):)

THANKS!

Quasi

I was going to ask if maybe you accidentally purchased the “Mobile Authenticator” (which is an app for some cell phones and handheld devices) instead of the physical authenticator gadget.

Well, hmmmmmm. It’s not letting me enter the numbers on the back of the authenticator thingie…

Q

Where are you trying to enter them? The first time, you need to go into your Account Management page (which you can get to via the www.worldofwarcraft.com page–the link is on the left side of the page, where you click Account and then Manage Account) and associate your authenticator with your account.

After you do that, you bring up the game, enter your password, then push the little button on the front of the authenticator and enter that number (not the one on the sticker on the back) in the box.

You should only ever have to enter the sticker number anywhere once–that’s the one that tells Blizzard that this particular authenticator’s randomly generated numbers should be used for that account only.

Okay. never mind. It’s working now. Thanks, everyone.

Now - don’t lose it! My husband and I each stuck ours onto a cord that’s plugged prominently into the sides of our laptops, so we can see where it is and also don’t lose the thing. Mine is looped through a cord such that it’s laying on the desk immediately above my mousepad. If you have a cord that’s handy and is in a spot that’s easy for you to reach, easy for you to see an Authenticator screen near, etc., then I suggest putting the Authenticator right there so that it’s always nearby when you’re playing, and so it won’t get knocked off the desk or whatever else.

Shouldn’t be a prob, FH. I’m the only person who ever uses this computer (Wife has her own PC and Lappie), so it will ALWAYS be right in front of the keyboard.

I tried loading WoW onto her PC once, but she doesn’t have enough capacity on her set.

Thanks

I’m naturally clumsy so I’m always knocking stuff around/off my desk/etc. So when I got that little plastic thingy I went “uhoh” and immediately searched for some way to keep it right in its place. :smack:

10 more to go and I have a new “in-game guru” named Rieheals and she is just friggin’ FAN-Damn-TASTIC!.

She stayed with Da Wolk’ till 10:30 pm realm time, and helped us kill bad guys right up until that time.

I am so friggin’ lucky that I have her, and alla y’all to help me level!

I don’t think any of you have any idea how PRECIOUS y’all are to me, do ya’?

Well, I’m here to tell ya’: Y’all ARE!

Your WoW Pal,

Quasi

Grats!

Nice April Fool from Blizzard in the Armoury: Sagan Armoury I’m a Tuskarr Paladin…

Congrats Quasi! That’s great!

The BDL blasted through Durnholde very quickly last night. I was a little disappointed to fall short of dinging 67, but I think next week we’ll move on to Sethekk Halls anyway. We still have a lot of BC 5-mans to do before Northrend and folks are going to start getting itchy if they’re still in Outland at level 70.

Also got my sombrero from Don Carlos, so I need to rustle up the rest of a caballero outfit.
