World of Warcraft General Discussion

I don’t know details because I have no way of getting into the game right now, but watch your chat box. If you see someone talking in the Guild Recruitment channel (which will say Guild Recruitment: before their line), notice the number in front of it. I honestly don’t remember what number that channel is offhand.

Open your chat text box, type (without the quotes) “/(number of Guild Recruitment channel):” and the text box should change so you’re typing your message in Guild Recruitment. Then just type your Guild message and hit Enter like you normally do.

Another really helpful thing you can do (though it will cost you a bit–probably about as much as an epic gem) is find a slot you don’t really care about the bonus for and put a “Nightmare Tear” in it. These gems are really neat, because they count as every color (all at once!) and they give you +10 to all your stats. So, for example, if you had a meta that required one blue, one red, and one yellow gem to activate, all you’d have to do is slot one Nightmare Tear and you’re free to fill all the rest of your slots with your optimal gems.

I didn’t realize this until my spouse told me about it awhile back, but it really helps especially with the metas that have annoying requirements.

ETA: I think this is what **SFG **was referring to with “prismatic gem.” It used to be jewelcrafter gems counted as prismatic too, but they nerfed that awhile back.

well not sure if Hellfire is a yorkshire term, and jammy just means lucky.

PvP and only PvP. Makes spells more effective against enemy player targets.

Actually, you’d want to put the Nightmare Tear in a slot that you ***absolutely ***care about the bonus for. Otherwise you’re wasting it! That’s the beauty of a prismatic gem: it will activate *any *socket bonus.

The one thing you do not want to do is put a prismatic gem into a slot that could be activated by your gem of choice. The idea here is to use it to activate a socket bonus that you’d otherwise miss.

Bingo. The Nightmare Tear is currently the best prismatic gem, and JC-exclusive gems (Dragon’s Eyes) are no longer prismatic.

Ah. As someone whose damage comes in shadow, shadow, shadow, shadow, shadow, and shadow flavors, I was wondering if I’d want to have something in case of particular encounters with high shadow resistance. Guess not.

Ohhhh…must have. MUST HAVE!!

And it’s BoA, so every character on your account will get one too.

Damn you, authenticator! I’m at work so I can’t buy one until I get home, because if you have an authenticator, it’s required to get into the Blizzard store.

I predict that everybody and their uncle will have one of these by tonight, but I don’t care! Now my Spectral Tiger can have a friend.

Nah, even though the manual said so, Dishonorable Kills never affected your reputations.

Yeah, that was my opinion, especially since we didn’t have enough total DPS output to finish the Lich King gauntlet. Fortunately I have mana regen out the wazoo so I managed during the initial fights to keep everyone up without drinking, but still.

I don’t think it matters on bosses.

Spell pen is useful in PvP (as SFG pointed out) to get through the base level of resistances that an opponent is likely to have (basically Mark of the Wild). So, for example, a PvP Survival hunter will often gem for 75 Spell Penetration to get full damage out of Explosive Shot even against a player target with MotW on them.

Thanks for the congratulations! Yeah, I’m still in the “new car” phase with the mount and just flying around randomly with it. We’ll see how long it lasts, but it is nice to have right now.

winterhawk11, yeah, definitely don’t try and do HM and All You Can Eat in the same reset. HM gets real tricky in P3 (or 2, depending on how you count phases), and All You Can Eat can be a real pain in the ass if people aren’t dropping their stacks efficiently. We basically had the two tanks alternating the blocks they would run behind, so every time there was a tank transition, Sindragosa would flip directions. It did cause for some issues, but it was the fastest way for them to be able to drop stacks, and really, they should be the only ones that have any issues keeping their stacks under 5.

As for Been Waiting A Long Time For This, definitely make sure to keep an eye on the plague’s stack number and NOT the number on the Lich King. That was our first mistake (would have had the drakes a week earlier had we known). And for some reason, Blizzard’s programming is dumb and there is an “=” instead of a “>” which makes it need to actually land on 30. The plague stack can skip if you have two separate stacks that merge (they both kill a ghoul, you have one at 28, that goes to 29, the other is at 1 goes to 2, but then merges with the other to hit 31). So, just be careful and you should be fine. Good luck!

My inner little girl who used to collect unicorn and pegasus figurines just squeed loud enough to be heard outside my head. (I most certainly did not emit the squee myself, oh no.) I think I have to wait for next payday, though. Dammit! Want pretty star-filled flying horse!

Spell pen: Post #10642. >.>

The horse looks really neat, though!

Damn you, Blizzard! Vanity pets I can ignore, but mounts…!

!!!

I’d been wondering about it ever since someone datamined the model. How much is it going for? Can’t get to even the store from work.

Nope, AFAIK Spell Pen does literally *nothing *in PvE. It is a completely useless stat outside of PvP.

You know you’re going to turn into one of those dudes who hovers over the well.

$25 for the shiny, pretty, starry flying pony… ahem, Celestial Steed, and $10 for Lil’ XT.

Oh yeah, I am *so *there.

I wonder how to disguise that purchase on our bank statement. “What charge from Bliz Ent? Oh, that’s, uh, nothing. Online porn, I think.”

I noticed upthread people were talking about mounts and how your rep with a faction would give you a discount or not. I thought mounts outside your default availability were only purchasable after you reached Exalted. Like, on my Alliance character, I can’t buy horsies at Theramore because they say I need to be Exalted with Stormwind. Does that change at some point?

I don’t think that counts for flying mounts, because there’s only one type of faction flying mount (gryphons for Alliance, windriders for Horde), rather than a different one for each race.

I do wish that warlocks and paladins got special flying mounts like they do ground mounts…like a pegasus for paladins and a fell beast (like the Nazgul rode) for warlocks.

The two things are unconnected. Rep discount affects all prices, including mounts. You can only buy faction-specific mounts once you’re Exalted with that faction. Because of the second fact, the first means that you’ll always see mounts of factions not your own at Exalted discount rates.
