I have had the good fortune of having the tailoring patterns for both the Red and Blue Lumberjack Shirts drop in the ICC 5-mans for me. I hope I wasn’t out of line “needing” on them, but I don’t think I was - I’m a tailor, dammit! So now I can make Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow Lumberjack Shirts. Here’s me and my nelf druid healer modeling the Red and Blue while we fish
There are ilevel 264 belts available for 60 frost emblems, you can find them on the main frost emblem vendor who is in the same room as the vendors for all of the other emblems. There are definitely plate belts for dps and tanks, so I presume a healer version is also available if that.
As to ilevel 264 boots (other than ICC drops), there are boots that can be made by blacksmiths with 5 primordial saronites, and the blacksmith would need another primordial saronite to buy each recipe (and enough ICC rep, which I think only needs to be Friendly or Honored to get boots). I occasionally see the crafted boots in AH for roughly 12,000 gold.
I’ve been looking at the crafted cloth healer boots, because my current boots are only iLvl 219, by far my lowest level gear. But six Primordial Saronite – sheesh, that’s gonna take a while.
Since I’ve had no luck with the 25-man LDW mail pants drop, I’m strongly considering having my LW make the (basically equivalent) crafted ones for me… they take 8(!!) primordials, plus one for the pattern… fortunately I have everything else I want from Frost so they’re piling up, but sheesh… of course if the T10.2 pants I got from VoA didn’t have haste on them I wouldn’t be in this positions (thanks blizz!).
And, of course, the laws of WoW loot promise that once I make them they will drop the very next time I kill her.
To Mister Rik - my understanding is that the craftable items rotate each tier (for the most part). So, for example, T9 had craftable bracers and chests, while T10 has craftable boots and legs. The off-set stuff rotates too, so T9 had off-set shoulders and helms while T10 has off-set gloves and chests (IIRC) (ETA: and belts).
I’m pretty sure there is a iLvl 232 DPS plate boot though… yeah, here they are - Heroic Halls of Reflection.
As far as how much the set bonuses are worth, Elitist Jerks is probably your best source for that information. Often they are worth quite a bit (200-500 DPS is within the realm of possibility). I know hunters were typically keeping their T9.5 2-piece bonus for a long time (until they had the 264 stuff for at least 2 or 3 pieces) before dropping it.
I’m reasonably sure you know this already, but there are some level 232 cloth boots that drop in PoS, so you can always queue up there until you get them.
Nope, Gnomer hasn’t been split at all. It’s all-or-nothing for the RDF with that one.
It’s been that way for a while. Tier sets used to have more pieces, but nowadays they keep it to five pieces, with a two-piece and four-piece bonus. Theoretically it allows for more flexibility with gearing.
Most of the T10 bonuses are pretty effin’ sweet. Like someone else mentioned upthread, though, check EJ for how it will affect you specifically.
You’re correct. The only way to obtain more than two Frost per day is to (a) kill raid bosses that drop them (ICC10/25 and the last boss of VoA); (b) do the raid weekly; and (c) do the ICC10/25 weeklies.
Nope, you were perfect. SOP is for anyone of that profession who does not yet have the recipe to roll Need. Now, if, say, it were a recipe for an equippable item that you couldn’t use but another Tailor in the group could, it might be polite to pass the recipe to them. But even then, I’d still say you’d be in your rights to roll on it. (Unless the item you’d produce with the recipe would be BoP, in which case the person who can make use of it should get first dibs.)
Mister Rik, when you wear that, do you get the urge to sing that song?
I just spent a ton of time in Silithus farming up an Abyssal Scepter for the quest turnin. GRAGH. The amount of farming required for that is pretty unreal, and I’m so glad that we’ve gotten away from that quest design.
(3 pieces of Twilight Cultist getup to summon a Lesser Wind Stone demon. And each use consumes a random piece of getup. Each demon drops an Abyssal Crest. Then when you have 3 crests, you can turn it in for a Medallion of Station which lets you summon the Wind Stone demon. BUT you need a whole new Twilight Cultist getup for that. Farming redux. And each Wind Stone demon drops an Abyssal Signet. Which you need 3 of for the next Wind Stone tier plus new getups and a new medallion. Farming redux. And then when you’re finally done and have a Ring of Lordship or whatever that thing is, you need a whole new Twilight Cultist kit including a new Signet, Medallion, and Lordship thing. Farming redux. And then by that point you’re ready to reroll a lock and *rain hellfire and brimstone *on the entire zone.)
In the process I ground my way from Honored to nearly Exalted just from the factional genocide alone.
Ah, I thought about trying to figure out what was what with those quests when I ground my Cenarion Circle rep, but decided the hell with it and just committed serial genocide instead (along with turning in the documents). Feeling good about that decision now.
Yeah, I was gonna say… hope you weren’t doing it just for the rep. 'Cause you’ll actually get more rep from just killing the lowest-level summoned dudes that you will from upconverting. But it looks like you were going after the quest or the item, so that’s all good. (Relatively good, anyway. :p)
Sure, I could, but then what would I whine about? In reality though I usually don’t do more than my one random a day (if that). I should buckle down and do the random + PoS I guess.
You could whine about their crappy drop rate. (It’s Heroic PoS, btw, not regular.) I’ve been grinding that daily on three of my characters and only got the drop for one.
I only ever see the caster offhand out of H-HoR on my Prot War, and never on my Mage. And, of course, when I ran ICC10 on my Mage, the shield I want dropped off the [del]loot pinata[/del] gunship. Don’t even want to think about how many tries it took me to get the ArP trink from H-FoS, either.
I got that trinket on my hunter, finally, but hell if I can get the caster trinket off Tyrannus from HPoS on my warlock. Got it on my druid and priest, but it’s pretty much best-in-slot for an affliction warlock, so of course it won’t show for her.
The Shriveled Heart? A lot of people were mad at me when I got that on my first H-HoR run. Then on my second run I got the Snowflake trinket. I really don’t have any reason to run H-HoR ever again Obviously I need to start running H-PoS, but at least that’s much less of a headache.
Haha, yeah. I just mentioned the rep as a way of measuring just how much nutty farming that took. I was out to do the quest turnin out of curiosity/Loremaster, and now it’s done so I’ll be moving on to the next zone. YAY.
(But I may stop to murder a few more Cenarion-rep-giving mobs to get the last few inches to exalted and to make up for the fact that I murdered a few Cenarion people for that eeeevil belf in Stonetalon Mountains a long time ago, speaking of quests that you don’t like doing for RP or whatever reasons.)
Also, Operation Gnomer gets a kickass poster and the trolls don’t?
I usually do that Stonetalon quest, except for one class. I won’t accept that quest if I’m playing a Druid, since the Tauren Druids are (technically) members of the Cenarion Circle and therefore allies of the Night Elf Druids.
SFG, I know you say I make you laugh, but sometimes you crack me up as well (godammit!).
Thanks for the answers, and thanks for always taking care of me and da Wolk’.
And that goes for the rest of y’all as well!
I have another question: SFG recommended I do skinning as a trade and we’ve been doing that over near Northshire and Goldshire, the red mountains and the Sentinel Hill area. How do I find out which is the next place we can go skinning that doesn’t require a very high level (like over in the Blasted Lands, for instance?). Right now,Wolkie’s just a 58 in skinning.
Up until 100 Skinning, you can skin anything that is the level (your skinning skill / 10) + 10, rounded down to the nearest whole number. So Wolkie right now can skin anything up to level 15 (58/10+10=15.8, rounded down to level 15). I’d say The Barrens is a great zone for him to be in, especially at the northern part.
Once he hits 100 Skinning, it’s even easier–just your skill divided by five, rounded down to the nearest whole number.
First, I just wanna brag that I am the first in BDL to crack 5k in Achievement points which I did in style…BB King! Did the swim to Stormwind, took the Deep Run Tram and poked my head out the tunnel and pelted High Tinker Mekkatorque…on the second shot. (Good thing I had Divine Shield up) and ran back into the Deep Run Tram tunnel, then hearthed back to Dal, FTW.

What is with this utter lack of high-level DPS plate boots and belts? There is an iLvl 264 plate belt (one for each pally spec) purchasable with Frost badges, but no plate boots or belts for any spec purchasable with Triumph badges. I’ve checked the Triumph and Frost vendors both in the building with the portals, as well as the vendors in Tanks For Everything, and also that cobbler gnome upstairs in Threads of Fate. Is there another Triumph vendor I’m overlooking? The only boots I can find are purchasable with Conquest badges (or whatever the badge below Triumph is), but those are downgrades from my existing, crafted, iLvl 226 boots.

Rik, I’ve been using these lvl 245 PvP boots. Easy to buy with Triumph badges (or 34100 honor points?) rather than frost. Yeah, you give up a semi-useful(less) (ArmPen) stat for useless resilience, but the level boost on Strength, Stam, Crit and 1 yellow gem slot (just go +20 Strength) make it a good value until you go for the high end boots. May not be the best choice you have, but the easiest way to boost some of your main stats.
