World of Warcraft General Discussion

IMO, the lower-tier Fury talents are actually more useful than the lower-tier Arms ones. So if I were going to level as DPS, I’d probably go Fury for a while, then switch to Arms at some point, based on what talents would be available deeper in the tree.

It’s been a long time since my Warrior was that level, the mechanics have changed a lot, and I’ve always been Prot, so I can’t really comment on the Rage thing from personal experience–just WAGs from what I know.

Welp, I’ll throw together one anyway, 'cause that will probably influence the rotation, but you’ll of course be free to ignore and/or tweak it as you see fit.

Latest installment of The Noob cracks me up

Okay, here’s the spec I’d suggest for a soloing Arms Warrior at level 52: The War Within Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

The current recommended priority is:

Overpower (if less than a GCD before a TfB proc), Rend (no clipping) > Mortal Strike > Overpower > Execute > Slam. Add in Heroic Strike if you’re at 80+ Rage; swap that to Cleave if you’ve got at least two enemies.

At level 52, you have all of those abilities. However, that’s a rotation designed to be used on a boss fight: i.e., something that takes more than 10 seconds. For mobs in the wild, you’ll probably want to mix it up. At that point, I’d play around with something more like:

Mortal Strike > Overpower > Execute > Slam

All of your other abilities are like that big compartment in the bottom of a toolbox: there’s a bunch of stuff you won’t use often, but when you find a situation that requires it, it’s might handy.
Charge: Open as many fights with this as you can.
Hamstring: If you’re fighting mobs that flee when they hit a certain HP%, hit them with it just before they get to that point.
Thunder Clap, Demo Shout, Disarm: Pull these out if you’re fighting a large pack/taking a lot of damage.
Intimidating Shout: This is good to macro with your current highest level of bandage. The fear can give you just enough time to get HP back. (Or you could use the time to get a head start fleeing on foot.)
Battle Shout: Probably not worth it to bother with this unless you’re running between packs and have more Rage than you know what to do with–better a two-minute buff than the Rage just ticking away into nothing.

Had to take this screenshot of Eilyssana with Orphan Matron Aria:

to go along with this one from a while back of Eilyssana with Milly Whatshername behind Northshire Abbey:

“Wipes around my shoulders. I’ve got chains, chains around my feet…”

Sorry, but you triggered my Johnny Cash jones there, SFG!

And thanks for telling me to ignore that quest! We were getting our asses kicked, dude!

Couple of things: as I left that quest and flew back to the portal and over Honor Hold, I saw a couple of yellow exclamation points there, so I thought “What the hell, let’s see what they want”, (I’ve already been in HP), so this guy sent me on a quest to kill some shatter-handed guys and I decide to fly over there.

“Well hell, they’re only level 63’s Wolkie, so why bother?” But the XP and the gold were decent, so is it sometimes benficial to go back to an area where you thought you’d finished up? I always thought you needed to fight monsters closer to your level?

Also, how many action bars can I get? I have two and have some potions, elixirs and food in my bags and I forget they are there and therefore Wolkie gets his clock cleaned a lot of the time.

I also need to figure out when to use Bladestorm. I usually use it when Wolk’s being double-teamed. Is that good strategy?

Thanks as always,

Good things; bad things. Tried out my healing spec (still with 3 pieces of T9 shadow priest gear) in a random and ended up in HoR. gulp. But apart from one wipe when I underhealed myself, things were going great until we got to the final dps race part, when one of the dps’s got caught behind the Lich King somehow. Oops. Still, we managed to 4 man the race, with me throwing as much dps into the mix as I could while still keeping up my healing duties. Felt pretty good.

On the other hand, I ended up in an ICC group that had stalled on the Gunship Battle, which should have been a red flag in itself. I’m not entirely clear why we kept wiping, but we did, and three wipes later everyone gave up, and I was saved to the third fight for my troubles.

Personally I try to keep it up at all times, of course with the glyph and talent it lasts six minutes.

“Close” is a relative term, I suspect that those level 63’s are on the lower end on the level range where you get xp.
If the rewards for the quest are worth the time and effort there is no reason not do to low level quests, but from a leveling perspective you are better off doing quests that are close(and by “close” here I mean quests in Northrend) to your level.

With the default UI, five, you can turn them on and off under
Options->Interface->ActionBars.

Whenever you want something really, really dead of course.
But no, using it when you’re fighting two or more mobs is not a bad idea.

ding to 66. Will need to upgrade my account to WotLK soon…

Again, yesterday I just ran the one random heroic on my main. Ever run with somebody whose head you’d like to just hold underwater, let them up for a breath of air, then right back in the water again? Not because of poor play, but just because they’re insanely annoying? I ended up in a group with a male draenei shaman who kept up a steady stream of /silly and /laugh emotes (dear Og, the male draenei laugh has got to be one of the most grating sounds in the game) all the way through H:UK, mixed up with repeated wiseass jabs at the tank’s “bad” gear (Say what? Um, UK is like the easiest dungeon in NR, and the tank’s GearScore was over 4600. STFU and play, dude  ) I considered initiating a vote-to-kick on the guy, but the tank was doing a pretty good job of just ignoring him and doing his job so I figured “let’s just get through here and I won’t have to listen to this idiot any longer”.

Spent the rest of the day playing my mage, Svelexi, again. My druid healer, druid tank, and priest friends were on and I got them to come help her with normal UK so I could get my quests done in there (I didn’t want another 20-minute wait for a random group). Except after we grouped up whoever queued us accidentally selected UP instead of UK. But, oh well, as long as we’re here … We finished up UP, even though I didn’t have any quests there, then re-queued for UK. Once that was done and I’d handed in all the quests, I said, “So … who’s up for Drak’Tharon Keep?” where I also had quests, and so we went and got that one done too.

Best part is, Svelexi started the day in all greens and finished in mostly blues, thanks to quest rewards and some nice drops. Best bits were the Robes of Novos and the Stable Master’s Breeches.

It also turned out my friends and several of their guildmates had left their guild and formed a new one. They finally gave up, a while back, trying to persuade me/my paladin to join their old guild (I kept refusing - my “vanity” guild is called <Order of The Rik>, and I said, “The guild is named after me - my main ought to be in it!” Also, I couldn’t figure out how to make a different toon the Guild Master :stuck_out_tongue: ) But after we finished UK they convinced me to join their new guild with my mage. So Svelexi left <Order of The Rik> and joined <Obliterated>.

I had a bit of a /facepalm moment a while later. I asked my druid friend in guild chat if she’d heard the rumor that, in Cataclysm, it’s going to be revealed that Elune is a Naaru (I saw a screenshot of a Naaru named E’lune in the temple in Darnassus). And one of the other guild members — another night elf … druid, level 75— said, “Who’s Elune?” :dubious: :smack: This, kids, is what you get by leveling through the RDF.

Anyhoo … my mage dinged 78. Two levels to my 3rd 80

Oh yeah … while several guild members were on I looked at the list and commented, “Hey, I’m the only one who isn’t a druid or priest!” and my friend said, “The old guild was all druids and DK’s at the top … and they kept recruiting more!” I said, “I hear ya. That’s why I’m leveling a warlock over in my Horde guild - it’s all druids, priests, and paladins at lvl 80 over there.” (/waves at BDL!)

67 …

Fuck PvP.

jayjay!!! Godamm, my friend!:), I MISS you!

What do I need to get jaejae to look at the vault, and make some changes?

For instance, I was under the impression you couldn’t put quest items in there. Is that right, buddy? I could have SWORN I saw a message in that regard a few nights** ago, but, even though I cannot find it now, I could have SWORN I saw one in there. because when I clicked on it, it said “quest”.

Also, if you would, could jaejae just take a quick look at the vault items and make sure I’m not giving them anything laughable?

Guild-related: 2 nights ago, I didn’t catch making the change of initiate to member, and she somehow made GM!

You know what happened, right?

Luckily Wolkie did a bank log check, saw his mistake and we corrected right away!

The vault only lost 20g that night, I explained what happened, and all is cool at Slightly Demented!

I LOVE having a guild! Brings out the “daddy” in me!

Sure have missed my gryph and it was nice flying her again in HP!

Quasi/Wolkie and Silka.

Thank you! I got back in for Children’s Week and just got disgusted by trying to do the PvP requirements for it. Bleah.

Just took a look. There is one quest item, Hops, but don’t worry about it. Some quest items are treated just like regular items and some are treated as soulbound. Hops are regular items and they’re for a quest in Westfall from a dwarf back in the Dagger Hills. If you give him 5 Hops, he makes you some type of beer or ale. The bartender in Lakeshire has a quest to bring him a couple of different kinds of booze, and that’s one of them.

The bank looks okay for your average member level. There’s some low-level stuff, some medium-level and some high-level. Who’s Adzelber? He’s only lvl 25 but he deposited 100g in the vault! That’s a lot of money for a low-level…

The flesh is weak. I just bought my sparkle-pony.

Also, Quasi, I transferred my lvl 80 Alliance Death Knight to Alex. I’m going to be out tonight, might be in-game very late. If you’re not on to /ginvite, I’ll try tomorrow.

You’re kidding me, right, jayjay?

Wolkie’s gonna miss a chance to minorly cheat (by dancing) on Heather with jaejae???

We’ll be there and thanks!

About Adzelber? I don’t know.

He/she showed up once, we communicated, and the next thing I knew, there was 100 more g’s in the vault. Am I being careless, jayjay?

Thanks and we’ll see ya’!

Awesome!

Me and some of my guildmates raided Westfall last night and I think Heather was a casualty of war. Sorry Quasi. :frowning:

BASTICHES and SAM-NA-VA-BITCHERS!:D:

That’s okay, though, shinto46, long as y’all didn’t rape her or ask for our first-born. When Wolkie and Silka catch up with y’all, you’ll get your choice of quick and screamy or slow and dreamy.

Either way, y’all are goin’ down, dood!

Okay, y’all KNOW I’m into RP, big time, right?

I’m lucky just to get through HP without us getting our asses kicked, so the above was satire (unless ya wanna come back to see me at level 80, shinto46.)

Until then, though, if you and your guildies get close again, please let me know, because Wolkie will do PVP for his Heather (and the baby!)

Mommy-friggers!

Fury’s awesome for leveling. The multitude of passive healing talents is actually pretty incredible for letting you just blender your way from one point to another without stopping for anything. There’s no reliance on procs or cooldowns like with arms, and you do almost equally as well against multiple targets as you do against one. Honestly the one complaint I’ve ever had is that it’s too boring. It’s so good at what it does that you pretty much never need to do anything at all out of the ordinary.

Okay, I accidentally hit the wrong button and now I cannot see Wolkie.

Sorry! Don’t know what I did wrong, but can y’all tell me what to do when that happens?

Thanks
