Had to sit out for a chunk of the raid last night, but:
1.) Picked up another 264 token, so now the four-piece T10 I’m wearing is all upgraded. I think there are only two things that I haven’t yet upgraded with at least an ICC10 piece: neck and bracers. BQL once again neglected to drop her shield on Heroic last night.
2.) Apparently got promoted to full member status after I’d logged for the night. Finally, free repairs/flasks/pots ahoy!
No need! Just a big… huge… list of crap that 99% of the people reading this thread will never need.
Go! Go! Go! Go!
You know, you’d think she’d be able to move faster without all the big heavy chunks of metal hanging off of her. Of course, she probably also knows that when she’s not all kitted out, it means it’s time to relax, so she’ll just amble around and take it easy.
Sometimes, when I’m running around before a raid or between bosses, I’ll pull out my first mount, the Black Stallion. I worked so damned hard to get my SW rep to Exalted by the time I hit 40 (because this was back in the day where you didn’t get your first mount 'til then).
All of the ICC five-mans have bosses that can’t really be brute-forced through–they require some minimal amount of awareness and strategy. I’ve started to make it a point to give a very basic run-down of every boss before pulling, since everyone seems to answer “yes” that they know a fight, even when they don’t (and then we wipe).
Warriors can also break out of it with Berserker Rage. (God, I love that ability so much.)
It’s been surprisingly nice running them lately, though. When they first came out, the minimum gear level limits weren’t in place and most folk were still new to them, so groups were clumsy and tiresome. It was a big reason why I stopped running heroics. Now, though, there’s a good chance that everyone in the instance is sufficiently geared and knows what to do, and it’s gotten a lot easier to complete them. I still cringe when HOR comes up, but now I know there’s a good chance that I’ll actually get through it instead of the team wiping twice and quitting in disgust.
I cringe too–I still won’t tank that place on my DK, even though he’s nearly full-264 geared and capable of tanking hard-mode ICC25. H-HoR gives me nightmares. I’ll do it on my (lesser geared) paladin, though–still don’t like it, but he can hold aggro better because he’s got all the AoE stuff that’s more useful against undead, and he doesn’t run out of cooldowns and tricks at inopportune moments.
I’m grateful for a guildie who gave me some very helpful tanking advice–I was under the misconception that everybody (including the tank) was supposed to hide in the corner before each wave of adds came out, and I’d done it successfully (but stressfully) that way several times before. My guildie told me that no, the tank was supposed to stand outside the corner, and use taunts and whatnot to get aggro on the ranged mobs. I tried that, and damned if it didn’t work much better!
Maybe I’ll be brave enough to try it on my DK again–though only with guildies. You couldn’t pay me enough to pug that place on him.
In other news–spent our entire 4 hour raid period last night wiping on heroic Sindragosa 25. We’re close, though–we should have her next time. And then it’s on to a nice easy LK kill and our Shadowmourne goodies!
Got my second piece of 277 tier on my mage this week–he looks *tres *sexay in his black robe and helm.
Makes sense. The mob AI in that place seems bound and determined to target the healer first, even through walls. Having the tank generate aggro first, then duck into the corner for an LOS pull (or using interrupts or Death Grip or whatever) makes it much safer.
What did you want more details on, Quas? I’d be happy to explain whatev’.
When was the last time you tried to tank H-HoR on him? It got a lot better after they changed the spawns so you can’t get two each of any of the nasty ones.
Works either way–it’s just down to your personal preference. Note that not all taunts *create *threat, too. (In fact, AFAIK most of them don’t–they just put you at the top of the list.) And you’ll still need to duck back behind the corner to get the ranged to collapse down to melee distance, unless you can DG or silence-pull them (and the latter won’t work for the Rifleman).
Cool, cheers on the full T10.33(the numbers are so garbled now, lol)! Glad to hear you found a guild that works for you and your pocket healer.
And yes, I’m aware of Berserker Rage breaking the fear, but was focused on listing the things that might help other members of the party.
Cool man, good to hear you’re getting close on Sindragosa. She’s tough, but the worst part is wasting attempts due to people not LOSing and then getting gibbed by the Frost Bombs or dying to other, similar stupidities. P3 is pretty tough, so we try to save our paladin CDs for that phase. Making sure to have Aura Mastery FrResists and Divine Sacrifice for that phase can be a godsend when you get rough RNG with healers being tombed in addition to the UM. Good luck, though I’m sure you’ll get her down soon enough.
We spent a few hours on Wednesday wiping to Heroic LK. Got to the transition phase, so hopefully on Monday we’ll be regularly getting deep into Phase 2/transition to P3 (ideally). It’s pretty cool pulling the hardest boss in the game right now and having a chance to be 2nd on the server if we can get focused and progress steadily.
Oh, and does anyone know what patch 3.3.4 is going to be? All I keep hearing about is 3.3.5, which is up on the PTR, but we’re on 3.3.3 and I’ve heard nothing about a 3.3.4 patch.
It’s been awhile, I admit. Maybe I should try it again–but not for pugs. Too many idiot kids who just want to pad the meters and don’t pay any attention to what they’re supposed to be hitting. And then they give you stupid misspelled crap when they die because they’re idiots (‘tank suks’, ‘l2p’ and other gems. Sure, kid. Me and my Kingslayer title really give a damn what your badly-gemmed fresh-80 ass thinks of me.) (Bitter? Oh, hey, not me!)
(Let me just be clear–when I screw up (and I do!), I admit it and apologize. I just have an extremely low tolerance for pint-sized Internet Tough Guys who can’t spell.)
Oh, I know. But if I can get the ranged focusing on me, then I can let them sit out there for awhile as long as nobody else hits them or gets healing aggro. And then once I have solid aggro on the melee, I can concentrate on locking down the ranged. And yeah, DG is quite nice.
Thanks! I’m sure we will–we were fairly consistently getting her down to single-digit percentages in our last few attempts.
Very cool! Good luck!
I don’t think any guild on our server has heroic LK down yet. If so, it’s only one and it’s on the Alliance side, so if we got it we’d be Horde first. I doubt we will, though–but that’s okay. I’ll be happy to get him down!
From what I heard, there is no 3.3.4. They just skipped one. Maybe it was an internal release or something, but it won’t be hitting live servers.
I had someone question my X.0/X.33/X.66 terminology the other day. It was bizarre. Of course, when pressed, they didn’t have a better suggestion.
Hey, *other *members of the party might be Warriors, too!
Good luck! Fingers crossed for you.
This is where it pays to be a bitch like me–“criticism” from bads rolls off me like water off a duck, and I have no problem telling them to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up, and oh, by the way, when I tell you what to attack, you’d better fucking attack it. Haven’t yet had one of those little wannabe-internet-badasses not back down when I point out that the group needs me much more than it needs them.
Really? Where did you hear that? I mean, it makes sense at this point, but it’s just been bothering me for a while. I’d really like to get LK down before Ruby Sanctum releases, so that we can have some shortened raid weeks. Halion on normal seems completely faceroll, but Heroic version seems to be pretty rough. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
Oh, don’t get me wrong–they don’t bother me in the sense that they make me cry or anything. They make me angry, and when I get angry on the internet, I get very, very sarcastic. I don’t start throwing around swear words or yelling…I just start trying to see how much I can wind the little bastards up. But that’s not really productive, and it’s not fair to the rest of the group members. Got one in the group the other day and was surprised and amused when the other group members votekicked him before I had a chance to do it. Quite refreshing. We went on and finished–a couple more wipes, but overall it worked out well. But no, I pride myself on not letting anybody see me sweat.
I’m not even sure where I heard it anymore–maybe from a guildie? But I’m pretty sure it’s true. Either that, or 3.3.4 is such a small update that they don’t even bother mentioning it because it doesn’t have any features to speak of.
I both cringe and swear. Though I can tank it, and have tanked it successfully several times, it just isn’t worth the pain.
Have you tried tanking it in the hallway where you zone in? Just have everyone stand back at the door, after it closes, and you stand out where it opens up. Me being a warrior tank this gives me a better view of the room and more room to zoom around and pick up adds. You can also tank it in the middle using the little pedestal to LoS the Mage/Hunter but I havn’t tried it yet.
Grats! I am jealous of your four piece, I may have to go steal it
We brought in a guildy warrior tank for our ICC10 last night, which meant we had two warrior tanks! Wee! I found out a nice little trick for Rotface and people with DBM. Just type /dbm arrow then the name of the ooze kiter and it’ll put a nice Quest Helper looking arrow over his head. Though it’s hard to miss my huge Tauren butt running around the edge, but every little bit helps.
I lucked out, happily. The first HOR run I did on my Pally, we got the ‘escape within 6 minutes’ achievement, and the second one got me a 232 off-hand to replace the blue 200 I had. I should be using a shield (especially since I just realized you can enchant shields but not off-hands), but the options for caster shields outside raids are slim.
They do start adding up over the years. Especially if you’re a hardcore raider. Most people, for example, probably don’t need to know exactly how many fractions of a second are left on a CD, so they can decide whether or not to fit something else in and wait out the GCD before hitting the other one again.
I know there’s an ilvl 200 badge one. Dunno how that + a chant would compare with a 232 offhand.
There’s the Protector of Frigid Souls from Scourgelord Tyrannus in regular PoS. My shaman has been using it for a while now. The ToC/ICC shields are a lie!
Yes, I’m going to have to start farming that off him. I’m rather surprised at how much healing gear is in POS, actually; most of the good stuff I’ve gotten both for my Resto Druid and my Holy Pally have been in there.
I’m going to have to give it a closer look, but I can throw a +25 Int enchant on the shield, so it may be worth using over the offhand. Plus the extra armor can only help.
