World of Warcraft General Discussion

… Okay, that’s just retarded. I could *maybe *see gemming for SP, if you were just guessing and hadn’t done any research at all. (I wondered if DKs would use SP back when Wrath launched, because of the diseases, but then I actually, y’know, looked into it.) But given that they don’t have mana, MP5 makes *no *sense.

Piccolo of the Flaming Fire? Yes, it’s grand. Note that it **will not **work in Dalaran, though.

Yup, I saw that roofer’s comment and thought it was hilarious that I clicked at just the right time!

And about the cheats?

I am sorry I even wrote about that. It will be a thorn in my side till I die, I reckon.

This game is too much fun to cheat it and I musta had a brain BM (I don’t have just a “brain-fart” - I go all the way!:))

Thanks, SFG, you’re a doll!

Q

Ain’t nothin’ wrong with playing with cheats in single-player games, IMO. It can be a hell of a lot of fun to screw around with them with various things unlocked. So it’s not always the kind of thing you’re used to as thinking of as terribly anathema.

And it’s good to see you back in the thread! Hope you enjoyed the little Dope-cation.

I can’t stay away from here, SFG! Y’all are the bestest friends I gots!

Brace yourselves: here comes a run-down of all the addons I have installed across all of my toons. I’ve split them into groups of ~5 to avoid wall of text badness.

**Acheron: **Death reports for you and anyone you’re grouped or in a raid with who’s in combat log range. Very useful for figuring out what killed somebody.
**Ackis Recipe List: **Compares recipes you know in your tradeskills to what’s available. Lists where missing recipes can be found. Can be filtered.
**Addon Control Panel: **Allows you to enable or disable addons without relogging. Most require a UI reload.
**Advanced Trade Skill Window: **Modifies the standard trade windows to allow sorting by difficulty, into custom categories, etc. Allows queuing. Can be kind of a screen real estate hog, so I’ll usually only turn this on when I’m leveling a prof.
**Atlas: **Maps for all dungeons and raids, as well as things like flight points.

Atlasloot Enchanced: Boss loot tables, craftables, tier and other badge gear, etc. Can cross-link with Atlas (e.g., click next to a boss’s name on a map to see what it drops).
**Auctioneer: **Auction tracking and posting tools. Also comes with other addons like Enchantrix, which adds tooltips to tell you what items DE into (and what those DE mats are worth), and **Informant **(which adds tooltips with things like vendor prices–invaluable before that was part of the standard UI).
ClassTimer: Customizable bars with timers for buffs and debuffs. Can show bars for self, target, focus, pet, etc.
**Collect Me: **Database of pets and mounts that tells you what you’re missing and where you can get it.
Decursive: Adds a UI element for dispellable things like poisons, curses, etc. Very important for any class that has any kind of dispel-like ability.

Deus Vox Encounters: Raid bossmod. One of the big three along with Deadly Boss Mods (DBM) and Bigwigs Bossmods; IMO, the best. However, completely pointless unless you’re raiding.
EPGPLootmaster: Was used for loot distribution (via loot council, not EPGP DKP) in an old guild. Gives roll dialogues for items with main spec/offspec options, space for comments, etc.
FishingAce: When you equip a fishing pole, it cranks up your SFX and turns everything else down, and also allows you to cast with a double-click.
Gatherer: Node tracking database for gathering professions. Also includes non-profession “nodes” like chests. Has a tracking HUD option.
GearScore: Quick numerical comparison of relative gear levels. Only rates the relative value of the gear in a completely objective way: for instance, a Prot Warrior wearing 264 healing Cloth would rank “higher” than a Priest wearing 245 healing Cloth. Really only relevant at max level.

GoGoMount: Used to manage mounts. Haven’t played around with it yet.
Grid: Replacement for or supplement to normal group or raid frames. Obscenely customizable. (For example, on my Disc Priest, I have a person’s box turn red if they have aggro, have a yellow border if they have a bubble, have an orange bubble if they have no bubble but Weakened Soul, have a green square in the upper left if they have a HOT on them, etc.)
**GridManaBars: **Modification for Grid to display resource bars.
**GridStatusRaidDebuff: **Modification for Grid to display raid debuffs.
**HatTrick: **Adds checkboxes for cloak and helm to the character interface, allowing them to be easily turned on and off.

**IceHUD: **HUD for character (and pet/vehicle) and target health, resources, and cast bars. Can also display buffs/debuffs, class-specific things like Sunder Armor stacks, etc.
**IronChef: **Equips Chef’s Hat and changes title to Chef when the Cooking window is opened; replaces previous helm and title when it’s closed.
**MapCoords: **Coordinates under player portrait and/or party portraits, as well as the zone maps.
**MikScrollingBattleText: **Scrolling combat text that shows incoming/outgoing damage and heals, procs, cooldowns, etc.
**Omen Threat Meter: **Displays the threat table of the current target.

**OmniCC: **Puts timers on buttons showing cooldown remaining.
**oRA2: **Raid crap like tank frames. Don’t use this in my current guild, but some require it.
**Outfitter: **Gear management addon. Slightly less necessary now that Blizz produced their own outfit section to the UI, but I still like the functionality here, including the separate outfit bar (doesn’t take up a slot on one of my existing action bars).
**Overachiever: **Expands on Achievement UI functionality, including searches, a “watch” window, and tooltips (e.g., on critters to tell you which you need to /love or kill).
Postal: Mail management addon. Can automatically open AH mails, mail with attachments, etc. with a single button click, based on your settings.

Quartz: Cast bars and buffs. I use this to replace the cast bars on my Priest.
QuestHelper: Quest tracking tool. Marks quest locations on your map, suggests the most efficient routes, and adds tooltips to tell you what you need to kill.
**RatingBuster: **Gear comparison tool. Breaks down stats versus what you’re currently wearing with customizable granularity (e.g., I can have Strength displayed as both Attack Power and Block Value).
**Recount: **Damage/healing/etc. meters.
**SatrinaBuffFrame: **Customizable buffs and debuffs. Especially useful for raiders like me who want to get their debuffs more in front of their faces (and turn off the display of things like Chill of the Throne, which is always active).

**SilverDragon: **Rarespawn tracker. Alerts you when a rare is or may be in the area.
**teksLoot: **Replacement for the standard roll dialogue. Can be moved anywhere on your screen, shows information about the item in an intuitive way, and shows a count for how many people have selected which option.
**Tidy Plates: **Nameplate modifier.
Tidy Plates: Threat Plates: Modification for TP. Allows you to change how enemy nameplates are displayed based on your threat level.

Well, I braced, but (luckily, ah reckon) I didn’t understand a single word of what you wrote, SFG!:smack:

I just automatically go to anything you write on accounta you are one of my gurus!

I got me a buncha “gurus” and they know who they are, right? EVERYONE in this thread!

Thanks

Q

Little Arhiatlel is now 60% to 80!! I am excite. TONIGHT, WE RESPEC IN DALARAN. fistpump (we’ll just ignore that she’s had access to Dal for quite a while and that the trainers aren’t actually there…)

Last night she healed 4-5 randoms with the same group (slightly-squishy pally, a new 80 DK looking for gear, two mages, and me), which was a lot of fun when you compare it to the usual run of silent-and-deadly pugs who never see each other again.

We wiped a few times, especially in Oculus (DK never did it before, I hadn’t gotten the hang of the green drake, plus we had some bad luck on the teleporting boss) and on Loken’s Lightning Nova. But people were actually talking to each other, which was nice. And two of us dinged 80 the instant that we downed Loken.

Then it’ll be off to the H treadmill with my guildie’s new tank…

I pretty much cheated my way all the way through Warcraft 2 & 3. By the time I figured out that I really stink at RTS games, I was so engrossed in the story that I had to get all the way through, one way or another

Thanks, Y’all!

Here’s a pic I call “Man At Work” (or going there - we’re skinning training!:))

Love youse all!

Q (Wolkie and the Silkas)

And plus…

I just didn’t want y’all to think I forgot about the “unarmoured” Silka!

Gonna be riding her more these days!

Thanks!

Q Wolkie and the Silkas!

You’re a good man Q as soon as I upgrade a mount I forget my old mounts, I’m a bad person.

Got put into Forge of Souls last night for the first time last night you really need to know what you’re doing in there don’t you? It took 3 tanks and 2 dps changes to down the first boss at the third attempt.

Question for any Grid users – is it possible to show an indicator for when a player has a debuff (snare of some sort) on them that I can remove with Hand of Freedom?

Wolkie will ride her just as you see pictured to recruit guildies. Why ride her when speed and armour aren’t indicated and why saddle that little baby with metal when she doesn’t even need to fight???

No. From here on out, we’re bareback till we need to be swift and armoured!

Quasi, Wolkie and the Silkas

Heh.

Warcraft meets Questionable Content.

You don’t want to say the words “Swift” and “Armour” too loudly around livestock, dude…

You don’t want to say the word “bareback” around livestock in certain areas of the country, either.

The first boss in Forge can be a pain, especially if the DPS or tank keep letting him heal by not killing the soul (it will come out after he targets someone with a Drain Soul ability, and looks like a slowly moving pink wisp). He also does an AOE to all mana users that can hit rather hard, and is difficult for undergeared healers to heal. For the 2nd phase, where he portals to the center of the room and does an arcane vortex, you can lose people with lower health pools rather quickly. Just need to hope the healer is on their game, though Fear Ward and Tremor Totem do work to stop the fear.

As for Grid, there is a way to add Buffs/Debuffs. If you go to /grid config, then go down to Status > Auras (actually click on the word Auras, not the + symbol), there are spaces to add a Buff (top) and Debuff (bottom). After you’ve done that, you need to go click the + of Frame. From there, you need to pick a location that you like (center icon is a good one for important debuffs, IMO). Click on one of the locations that works for you, then on the right side of the window, scroll down until you see your newly added Buff or Debuff (it will say “Buff: Whatever” or “Debuff: Whatever”), then click the box next to it to check off that it will be shown in that spot. However, there is no way (that I know of) to specifically display all “types” of debuffs, such as snares or slows. You have to add specific debuffs or just use HoFreedom when you see someone snared and in danger. Hope that helps.

Here’s the strip that led up to it.

FWIW, you can have it show by debuff types: Curse, Poison, Magic, and Disease. I tweak each class so that only the cleansable types show, so like for my Druid Grid only warns me when there’s a Poison or Curse on someone, and my Pally shows Poisons, Diseases, and Magics. Beyond that though, you do need to add by spell name.

In grid you can have the debuff appear as an icon in the middle of the frame, so if you recognize the icon for snare (for example) you can distinguish it from other debuffs of the same type.

You can also create custom indicators for specific buffs/debuffs. For example I created one for my Holy Pally that shows the Beacon of Light buff, so I know who has it (usually the tank) and when it expires.

GridStatusHots. It’s a sub-addon that allows you to put timers up for a bunch of different spells, including Beacon. I have it so that whoever has Beacon has a big ol’ countdown right under their name, with smaller countdowns to the left and right for Sacred Shield and any Flash of Light HoT. Makes it incredibly easy to track what buffs are up and how much longer they have.

That’s why my self and the mage had 50% of our health taken every now and then, it’s a bugger for Holy Pallys trying to make their mana pool as big as possible. Thanks, it was explained by the tank after the first wipe though in the next fight the kitty we were with ignored the instructions and didn’t run away. Hence the tank dropped.

Thanks all – I have the icon popping up for cleanse targets but I was hoping for a single debuff that would cover all snare effects saving me from adding a debuff for each type. Not possible then and I can sort of see why.

Thanks downloading that tonight, looks useful.
