Nope…autoshot with guns or bows is a Hunter class exclusive ability. The best (read, most efficient) missile weapon to train for warriors is Thrown, since you never have to buy ammo, once you buy the initial throwing knife or axe. The damage is tiny, but then you’re only using missiles for pulling anyway, right?
I had an interesting situation with this last night. I was rolling through the Un’Goro Crater quests on my Hunter, and I was handling the escort quest with the robot ape. The ape cave was a little busy with a few other players fighting the mobs outside. The escort’s got a killer instinct, and it kept running up to fights in progress. I basically HAD to help the other players just so the stupid escort would continue on its way.
Of course! Can’t actually do it any other way, really, since there’s only time for two shots at best before the mob closes the distance.
But yeah, I decided that a warrior really needs something to pull with since they, like bears, have something like a two-mile aggro radius
Okay, the radius isn’t that big, but it does seem that from a warrior’s perspective a pair of mobs 50 yards apart counts as “closely packed enemies”. So it’s easier to bring one of them to me instead of me going to them and drawing the attention of three more mobs. I’m speccing this dwarf Protection, but at lvl 10 there’s not a lot of protection to be had.
So I caught the bug again and re-activated my account. When I quit I was at 47. I started back last Monday, and am about to ding 53. (Gilderon on Khaz Modan if anyone cares. Undead Warlock). It’s a little depressing, since I started just before BC came out, and am just now almost at the original level cap. But then I’ll have another 20 levels to go.
While on the subject of pulling, maybe someone can help me figure out a solution to this. I usually have my Voidwalker out while soloing, set on defensive mode. This means, as soon as I attack, or something attacks me, he goes to attack it. This is great for most situations. However, if I ever want to pull one or two and bring them to us, I have to set him to passive mode and command him to attack when they get nearby, which sucks because he will only attack the one I tell him to, which means if he finishes it off by himself while I’m drain-tanking the other, he’ll just sit there stupidly until I tell him to attack the other one. Are there any add-ons or macros I could use that wait, say, 2 or 3 seconds after I attack something and then put him in defensive mode, and then after combat ends, put him back in passive mode?
(And yes, I know what you’re thinking, “Poor little overpowered 'lock, complaining about how rough he has it.” Wait… are 'locks still considered overpowered? I remember reading something about them being nerfed a lot.)
Heh, I wouldn’t worry about it. I started my Druid the day the game came out and only got him to 80 last week.
At any rate, levelling in Outland is incredibly easy (or at least, it was to me). They’ve adjusted the levelling curves to the extent that I had only cleared 3 zones of Outland of quests (out of 7, I think) before dinging 68, and only cleared the fourth (Nagrand) cause I wanted to enjoy flight form for a couple levels before losing it again in Northrend.
Another question about forming my own guild:
If I wanted to form a “just me” guild for my ten toons on one server, is it safe to assume I’d have to recruit another player and give them authority to recruit members, and then have them invite each of my alts as I log them in and out? Seems I heard here or somewhere that you can’t invite characters by mail or when they’re otherwise offline.
Unless you’re duo-boxing, yes, you have to trust someone else with the power while you cycle through your alts. I’d love it if they ever implemented guild invites through mail.
Not really a big deal, though, since your own character would be the guild leader. Just invite a friend, give them invite privileges, have them invite your alts, and then kick them out (or lower their privileges so they can’t invite). If it’s a friend you can explain it in advance. Whatever happens, though, you will retain the authority to boot out anyone below your rank.
Unfortunately, all my friends on this server are already in guilds (and if you’re currently in a guild you can’t even sign a guild charter, correct? I’d assume that’s why people hang around lowbie areas looking for signatures - higher density of guildless toons.)
Hey, what’s up with the dearth cool-looking cloaks? When I made my death knights I was impressed with the cool cloaks they got: ankle-length, attractive designs, and actually substantial looking (as in “thick”). I assumed it was a high-level character thing. So I got my paladin to Outland and did that stupid quest in Nagrand where the goblin wants some eggs from a nest in a tree and you have to jump on his trampoline thing (I actually ended up using an alternate method of climbing the cliff behind the tree, mounting up and turning on my Crusader Aura for speed, and leaping onto the nest from above, after numerous unsuccessful attempts with the trampoline), and was rewarded with an awesome-looking cloak similar to what DKs get. I assumed that later cloak rewards would be similar. But since then, nothing. All the cloaks are back to the thin, knee-length things - even the blue “superior” cloaks offered for completing dungeon quests.
Mister Rik, ask whether any of them has an unguilded alt, they may.
The cloaks you liked were WotLK design; the ones you’re seeing now are BC design. There’s clearly different designers.
Electronic Chaos, Ctrl+1 send the pet in… and Ctrl+9 sets him back on defensive.
The cool looks are reserved for the cloaks that are actually cool, not the random lowbie trash
Of course, the epic cloak my druid is currently wearing looks very similar to the blue craftable I had at level 60 :dubious:
I got the bug too, reactivated my account a couple of days ago. I left about a year ago with a level 70 Rogue/Mage. I like to PvP but got bored repeating the same instances over and over again. Anyway, I’m currently levelling up my Rogue on Turalyon.
I’m under no illusion that PvP is any less of a grind now but I have a couple of brothers with a level 80 Warlock and a level 80 Rogue/Paladin/Priest/Druid, so maybe we can have some fun in arenas.
That’s my point. That cloak I got in Nagrand was BC design, but similar in style to the later DK cloaks. My main is now in Northrend (WotLK), and it’s back to the shorter, thinner cloaks. I had hoped the DK cloaks were an example of what I’d be seeing once I got to Northrend, but apparently not.
Shrug, in general I don’t like Northrend designs, among other things because too many items use identical models; my priestess has two “daggers” bigger than a level 10 2H sword and they’re identical…
Maybe the DK stuff was among the first designs for Wrath and the old designers were still around.
Actually, if the cloak from Nagrand is the one I think it is, it isn’t a BC design, it’s a recoloured Vanilla design. That said, the Onyxia Scale Cloak was the best looking cloak in the game back then.
I was only half joking in my previous post, you will see more of the designs you saw on your dk once you hit 80 and start getting epic cloaks.
Nava, one of the reasons a lot of the gear in Northrend use the same models is because the designers wanted to avoid the Clownsuit syndrome by limiting the numbers of models so most of the gear match.
Yeah, the Nagrand cloak is a recolored Onyxia scale cloak–the green is pretty, though. I remember getting annoyed because my rogue had two versions of that cloak to choose from–one looked awesome but wasn’t quite as good; the other one, which was better, was colored the same but not only was it not ankle-length, it was one of those stupid super-short “stole” style cloaks that you get at level 4 or 5. I couldn’t bring myself to take it, even though stats-wise it was better. I took the long one.
BWAH-HA-HA!
Sholazar Basin.
Tracker Gekgek.
“Go, human! Go or I taunt you a second time!”
Now I wonder if the person he’s sending me to is going to fart in my general direction …
Well this has been a good day in the World of Warcraft:
• Mining to 450
• Found the manual to learn to make Heavy Frostweave Bandages
• Achieved the achievement [Silver in the City]
• Dinged Level 78

I hit level 55 yesterday, and had to go all the way back to Darnassus to get the new arrows. I was in a place where the only vendors had gun ammo, but no arrows.
Also, High Druid Staghelm is a jerk. I complained in guild chat about some NPCs not being very nice, and my guild instantly knew who I was talking about, based on where I’d just been.
Oh, yes…I long for the day when I’m in Darnassus and a leader raid of Horde come into town. I will meet them at the temple when they’re done with Tyrande, make motions for them to follow me, and lead them to Jerkhelm. And /cheer while they cut him into tiny purple pieces.
