World of Warcraft General Discussion

Mister Rik! Congrats, DOOD!

Q

Super new guy here, I just started playing this last Sunday. I have a level 16 warrior and I finally made it to Ironforge to be trained on guns. How the hell do I use it?

I don’t want to assume anything, so just understand that I’m not trying to say you’re dumb or anything like that…have you bought a gun and ammo and equipped both of them? If you have, there’s an ability called “Shoot” in your abilities panel, on the first (general) tab of it. You use that to shoot. You can drag it down into your action bar.

Use the gun? You have to equip the gun and the ammo by rightclicking both, then replace the “throw” action in your action bar with a “shoot” action.

I did have a gun and ammo equipped, did not know to drag down the ability to my action bar. Thanks for helping out the dumb ass.

No problem. I started only about 2 months ago, and it took me probably 20 minutes to figure that out. I don’t pretend to understand why shoot and throw have to be different buttons.

I don’t use guns.

I ab-whore them!

But I’m a 19 now and due to the kinda-dit-i-ty, of jayjay, Mr. Rik, and many others in this thread, I have learned some things.

If I can help, look for me as WOLKENLAUFRE (call me “Wolkie”) in Goldshire.
I will be glad to join you in fighting the Stockade in Stormwind and lets get you out-fitted.

Welcome!

Q

Oh yes indeed just installed it in time for my usual Sunday nighter and the difference is , well, choirs of angels is a great way to put it. No XP bar might take a while to get used to though. I also have Forte working for my warlock so thanks again everyone.

Gratz on 19 Quasi!

Bartender has an XP bar. You might have to /bartender to go in and turn it on.

Got my first honorable PVP kill tonight. I was in the plaguelands doing the world pvp of the zone, and on the way to the tower west of Stratholme, an 80 and a 58 DK pop out of nowhere to try and take me down of my mount. I pop the instant HoT, switch to cat form, and target the 80 and start spamming mangle and rake until my health is below 50%. I then barkskin, pop out and do my 3 HoT’s (lifebloom, rejuvenation, regrowth), and hit nourish then innervate, pop back into cat and just spammed the 80 till he dropped. then I took out the 58 (after all, he attacked me first). It was panicky and exhilarating at the same time.

I may have to give this PVP thing a try now.

Thank you! I have a question: Is it okay for me to step in and kill if I see a lower level “losing it”?

I always “step back” and let them loot and wave as I go on about my own business.

Some folks have done the same for me, and I didn’t get pissed, so I hope it’s okay.

Q

That’s not a question with one answer. Everyone is different in how they feel about being helped. As long as they get the first hit in, the mob is tagged to them and you can’t “steal” it, so that’s not a consideration, but some people don’t like someone stepping in to help them, even if it’ll save their “life”. Your best bet is to ask if they want help.

Jay?

Sometimes there isn’t time, Hon!

My fingers don’t fly that fast.

So here’s what I did:

I went back to Northshire and told folks that if they needed me, I would help them level up.

I did that in honor of you, and all the others who have been so sweet to me here.

I take “Chivalry” very seriously, you see.

Funny but true: Someone tonight asked me if I had a “main”?

I answered back: “No, I am straight, but I DO have a womain!”

I love you, Kids!

Bill

I’ve seen some of my more machchchchchoooo guildies grumble a bit that they were soloing some big boss and someone stepped in and gave them a hand, but the general reaction is “oh you poor baby, want a bandage on your pride?”

Most people are grateful, specially if they were low on hp.

As others have said it depends I always help if someone is close to death and paladins have some nice spells to either heal or rescue people from danger. If they aren’t close to death I often watch the fight to see if they may need help later.

Thanks I will sort that out tonight.

Two strat runs and 1 scholo run later and I’m halfway through revered on my way towards exalted with Argent Dawn. This rep grind is actually kindof fun.

Hey, Quasi…I just checked Wolkie out in the Armory. I have ONE piece of advice for you that you seem to be forgetting to do: allocate your talent points when you get them. You only have three allocated but at lvl 19 you should have 10 total, so there are 7 you still have unassigned. While you’re leveling, your best bet is Fury or Arms for them.

Heh. I just equipped and trained my dwarf warrior with a gun, and I’m annoyed to discover that warriors apparently don’t get an “Autoshot” option

Hey, just for fun I’ve put pictures of all my various toons up on my Facebook account:
