World of Warcraft General Discussion

Thanks Bartender looks perfect.

How does anyone NOT have Cold Weather Flying? It’s only 1k. You practically have to *try *not to make crap-tons of gold at 80.

I believe there are also settings for the chat window that will make it “click-through” so accidentally clicking it won’t do anything.

I use CT_Viewport to shrink the screen and put my chat window (modded using Chatter) and my action bars (modded by Bartender) and my mini-map (modded by SimpleMiniMap (I think))) into the black area on the bottom. Then the whole “world” window is clear other than unit frames and tooltips (although it is slightly smaller than before). Oh, and I put a Fubar bar on the top with links to bags, ammo, guild info, XP (while levelling), etc…

I’ve seen a few. If you have a really expensive main and a casual alt I could see how it could happen… but yeah, even getting epic flying at 80 only took a few weeks. You do have to work a little bit for it (either dailies, or gathering, or something) - the gold doesn’t just appear.

There are 3 Auction houses: Horde, Alliance, and Blackwater.

Horde auction house is in each of the Horde capitals, and the Alliance auction house is in each of the alliance capitals. These are only accessible to their respective factions. These AHs charge the seller 5% on the final price, and a deposit of 15% of the vendor-value per 12 hours of listing.

The Blackwater auction house is run by the goblins and can be found in Everlook, Gagetzan, and Booty Bay. Area 52 and Ratchet have goblin banks but no auctioneers. This AH is accessible to both factions, so is a great place to trade faction-specific pets and recipes, and the Green Hills of Stranglethorn, but usually gets little business otherwise. The goblins charge the seller 15% of the final price, and deposits are 75% of the vendor-value per 12 hours.

The dark days of each city having its own AH are long over.

Each faction city never had its own separate AH, did it? It used to be there was only one AH in Ironforge and one in Orgrimmar, and the rejoicing was most loud when they finally set up one in every capital. But they were always linked, even then.

I have an expensive main (in that my repair costs are very high, I raid, and I have some expensive hobbies like pet collecting), no money-farming alt, and I’ve *never *had a problem with money. I had my epic flyer within a week of hitting 70 back in BC, and that’s the only major purchase I had to wait on. Everything else I got as soon as it was available without having to borrow any cash.

Interresting ‘Hey, they prepared for this!’ moment yesterday I thought I’d share.

My awsome gnomey engineer is doing the various daily jousting quests. Because I’m a weirdo like that, I have my bags full of toys, apple juice, bunny ears, and other ‘silly’ things. When I say packed, I mean -packed-. No inventory space.
Didn’t realize this until I’d finished my jousts and checked my inventory. No marks from the jousting, cos there was nowhere to put them. Seeing as the jousts are insanely boring and have one-hour timers, I was trully miffed.
A minute later… A letter in the mail! From ‘Master Enchanter’ such-and-such. My marks! The enchanter says he found them ‘floating in the aether’, and that I should be more careful in the future. I was highly amused (and relieved) to say the least! One step closer to my mechanopeep!

I wasn’t around then, I just hear about the dark times.

Both your story and Mister Rik’s make me laugh because the common factor is clear here: Nelf Rogues are jerks. (or maybe just really anti-social.)

Your actions warm my heart, but then…I may have a slight hatred for them after all the times they have stalked my priest in battle grounds (forsaking all battle ground objectives the nelf rogue is drawn to me from across the map… ). I’m honey to them!

That happened to me a little while back; turns out I had one of the Grizzly Hills pvp quests in my quest log. As long as you have it, you can’t deflag.

Thanks everyone.

I know! I’m not that insane of a player or anything (shush), but I managed to grind out fast-flight and Cold Weather Flying for 3 level 80 characters now, with all of them getting CWF right after hitting 77. My guild is pretty casual but I’ve never seen anyone get to Naxx and not be able to fly there - they might not have the fast flying but they got the cold weather form at least.

My response to him was “… how can you STAND not being able to fly?!”

I think every time he brags about his uber-chars, I’m going to reply with “At least I have Cold Weather Flying.” :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course, I’ve been that “group invite decliner” myself, so I have some sympathy. My excuse for declining invitations is that until fairly recently I didn’t realize that many of them may have been “we’re doing the same quest” situations. I always figured it was just somebody who wanted someone to run around with. My very first “hey we’re on the same quest let’s group” only happened a couple weeks ago, in Northrend. I was on a quest to kill a big elite somethingorother (a magnataur in Dragonblight - the first named one you’re sent out to kill after finding a “This item begins a quest” item on another named magnataur and immediately preceding the quest where you’re sent out to kill three different named elite magnataurs), and when I finally tracked the beastie down I found it was already in combat with a human priest a couple levels lower than me (and the priest wasn’t faring well). So I immediately extended a group invitation and she immediately accepted it. Together we made short work of the monster, she thanked me, and then we ungrouped and went our separate ways.

My pally is three and a half bars away from level 77! I’ll be able to easily afford CWF, but fast flight is a ways off.

Bartender had me hearing choirs of angels when I installed it. If you want to make it look prettier, I also recommend ButtonFacade which plays nicely with Bartender and which will skin your buttons.

It took some initial configuration for each toon (hunter/pally/priest), and I’m still not sure I have custom conditionals working correctly for fading in/out bars, but I’m still very thrilled with it and with the returned screen real estate.

My characters never had fast flight back at level 70 cap BC days. I only got it for them by 79 or 80 - thank you, money-dispensing dailies.

I fell into Stormwind Harbor, died, and now I cannot get rezzed because even though I climb out, I’m STIIL dead and the game is making me get into the water again and find my corpse, but even though I get within centimeters of it, it says I have to “enter this instance” and I don’t know WITF that shit means???

Thanks

w00t! Level 77! Cold Weather Flying!

That sounds like a bug. You might want to hit the red question mark in your menu bar and put in a ticket to a GM. I doubt (knowing your level) that you weren’t in the only instance near that (the Stockades), so the “You must enter this instance to return to your body” thing is just wrong.

And also solved my drowning"instance problem".

(Just got outta the water and ran back to Goldshire, and found me one o ’ them “Wihisperin’ Healin’ Babes!”

Also leveled up to 19, and I’m being invited to party up with some other top players!

Still not much help to them, but we did a run on the Stockade today, and we cleaned up, Y’all!

Right now, my quest is to protect the Defias traitor as he leads me to Van Cleef’s hidey-hole, but that is an “elite” quest, and I can’t handle protecting HIM and being double teamed at the same time, so I’m asking for help every chance I get.

"Because a mind is a tubble thang! "

“And we must stop it, 'fo it kills somebody!”

Anybody remember the stand-up comiic who did that routine?

“Dis is mah CUP!”

Ah, God! Everytime I look at ol “Wolkie” with his “shoulda-mah-pads” I crack myself up!

I love this game, KIDDOS!

Bill

Thanks, jay.

I think I may have moved into “Instances” when I partied up witj a couple of 59’ers who went into The Dead Mines.

Anyway, problem solved, and, I also forgot to mention I wound up on Duskwood this afternoon and killed me three rabid and starving wolves (Level 20) and one spider (also a 20).

Also I now have Merle Haggard’s sword, and that thing is doing some serious Da-mahge! S
