Yup. You know how sometimes when you’re standing in front of the inn at Crossroads and you see bold red text in your chatbox? That’s a yell, and the person who did it is probably down at the Great Lift or something.
Speaking of yells, is there usually something good in the pirate chest in Gurubashi Arena? I was nearby when the pirate announced it yesterday so I ran in just in time to see a lvl 80 killing some lvl 40-somethings and opening the chest. So I wondered if it was worth the effort to make the attempt.
On another note, can somebody explain today’s CTRL-ALT-DEL webcomic? I don’t get it.
It’s a parody of a commercial for a product called the ShamWow. ShamWow, WoW Shaman, har har.
Good? Usually a healing potion, some gold, and maybe a green or blue item that’s decent at around level 35-40, and occasionally some twink stuff.
But it also contains the Arena Master trinket. It’s a trinket with +5 stamina that’s ok, but is part of an achievement. After looting 12, you can get the Arena Grandmaster Trinket from Short John, which is another achivement, and has shield and dodge effects that are great for 19 twinks. So you’ll see the 80s there either trying to get the achievements, or hiding a twink in the stands to come get the trinket after everyone has been cleared out.
I’ve looted the chest 8 times between levels 40 and 70. My trick was to show up at 9am on a weekday, but it’s been crowded the last few times I tried so I’ve given up for now.
Actually, I meant that a douche receiving such an admonishment would only reply “Yup, they’re HUGE. Thank you for noticing!” They will not be shamed.
Now that part I wasn’t aware of. Holy crap.
Yuck. Guild drama. Here’s hoping to Og that my guild on Borean Tundra doesn’t devolve into that sort of mess.
We are however, recruiting pretty much at random which means a higher chance of some idiot(s) getting in. /sigh
But then, our guild charter is to group and have a good time – we’re not really thinking about raids or endgame content at this point. The server’s only a month old, and the highest member so far is 53.
So far, the current GM (the last one handed over authoritah and left due to RL, I think) seems to be a good one otherwise – we’ve gone questing together a few times, and ran SM Library once as a sort of well oiled pug with a few other guys – not much loot drama there.
Anyway, grats on the purple item Mister Rik! My main’s best item so far is a Spirit Headdress. Looks fitting on a troll hunter and has +8 AGI and +STA, which is really nice given the BM spec.
Shamwow previously explained.
how long do people think it would take to take a mage from level 72 to 80? I stopped playing a little after the expansion hit but am tempted to go back to hit the level cap and pvp. No idea how long the grind is though.
Guys (uni-sex meaning, okay?)
I’m right now sitting on the Westfall bridge supposed to be patrolling the grasslands looking for gnolls, and I don’t know which way I’m supposed to go to find them, and it’s been this way for 2 weeks and I keep taking on other quests like those damn soup recipes and that watch and stuff, and all I find are those whirlwinds, level 15 birds and adult goretusks which are kickin’ my ass because I’m just a 13 warrior!
Just please tell me which way to turn after I cross the bride to find me some gnolls, please?
BTW I’m in Alecstrasia (Wolkenlaufer)
Thanks!

I went from 60 to 70 on my DK in roughly two weeks, playing about 2-3 hours each weeknight and about 6 hours or so each on Sat and Sun. I’m no power leveler, either. I was generally doing a level a day on weekends and a level every two days during the week in Outlands. Once I hit 70 (right after I bought my flyer) I finished my Outland Exploration achievements and went to Northrend. My Alliance DK has been sitting for a week or so while I level my Horde DK, so I don’t know how much harder 70 to 80 is.
The bridge from goldshire/E.Forest? Go up the ridge on the right as you enter westfall.
You may be a bit low level, so don’t be afraid to just kill random stuff until you ding.
Being a Hordie I’m not sure of the exact location of the bridge you’re talking about, but I think this map (look for the little squares) shows where they roam?
In my opinion, the early to mid 70s was the toughest part; once you get flying they seem to zip by - and getting more daily quests as the levels add up really helps. I think I took my priest from 73 to 80 in under two weeks, with nightly play. I took a long break when I hit 73 so I don’t remember how long the first part took.
I keep being torn between wanting to hit the cap and wanting to level tradeskills and ring up my rep with the basic factions, along with doing old world explorations and getting the lower-to-mid-level dungeon achievements.
There are little camps of gnolls all over the place in Westfall. Which bridge are you talking about, btw? The one between Westfall and Duskwood, or the one between Elwynn and Westfall? If the latter, just follow the road until you get to Sentinel Hill, then just head off the road and wander around that area. The gnolls aren’t in any specific spot (well, they are, but there are a bunch of groups. They are generally in small camps of about 4-8 or so–be careful not to go too near them, because they’re almost as social as Murlocs.) Sorry I can’t be more clear, but it’s been ages since I’ve played Alliance so I don’t get to Westfall much these days.
Edit: this in response to Quasimodem. I didn’t realize there was another page, so I thought I was responding immediately.
The easiest gnoll camp to get (the lowest-level gnolls) is right between the Jansen Stead and the beach. If you turn right after you go over the lion bridge between Elwynn and Westfall, and keep going until you come to the beach, the gnoll camp will be right to your left. Watch for the coyotes. There are two of them right on or near the riverbank and then another one right before the beach.
Don’t turn. Just keep following the road. You’ll eventually come to a tower (where you can pick up another flight point). Keep going past that. There will be an inn and a lumberyard, and then a ridge. The gnolls are on the other side of that ridge, around the little lakes.
By the way, I highly suggest you install WoWMatrix, which is a program that keeps track of mods for the game. It’s very easy to set up. Once you do that, install Cartographer (which does a better job of handling the game map), and then install the program which will quickly become your best friend- QuestHelper. It tells you where to go to find the things you need for quests, and organizes them according to the optimal route (so you don’t spend a lot of time going back and forth). It basically takes the tedium out of the game, and lets you just have fun.
Okay! Heading back into the Sh*t!!! (An old Viet Nam saying!:))
Thanks!

This is one of the major problems I had with TourGuide. By the time I started using it, I’d had enough characters in all the races to know the basic starting area quests and had pretty much mapped out my routes for everything. When I started using it (to make sure I wasn’t missing any), it kept sending me to do things that I knew I had other possible quest items or kills nearby, but it didn’t direct me to those quests until I’d come back to turn in the first one.
Annoying.
