My computer crashes when I use NASA World Wind, today less than a minute after I started. Any ideas or suggestions ?
I have a Compaq with Windows XP.
I have no problem with Google Earth.
By the way, some regions on Google Earth are much sharper than on World Wind. It seems odd that Google would have access to more recent data than NASA ?
Ummm… could you possibly provide some more information about this? What version of Windows XP (Home or Prefessional)? What Service Pack level of XP? How much RAM do you have? What does Task Manager report happening when the “crash” happens? What exactly do you mean by “crash” - a general program error or BSOD?
The screen jumps back to Start with funny gray and red colors, much enlarged icons, with indication to reboot. I don’t remember all details but there was no indication on what kind of error.
BSOD I think.
Possible a memory problem ?
No problem when restarting.
World Wind is a memory hog. As they admit on the home page, nothing has been done to optimize it, and it will eat up your memory, and eventually stall the machine, unless you manage to shut it down first.
