Jim Beaver also said (on the HBO board) that Haley doesn’t do drugs or party. From what he said (which I can’t find now, that board’s a mess) Haley’s a straight-up good kid, unafflicted with the usual trappings of celebrity.

*I hope you don’t think Haley should give in to the cliché and get a Porsche or Beemer just because he’s a “movie star.” He’s one of the most down-to-earth people I’ve ever met. I think he drives what he drives because it’s a good car and it works well and why buy another when you’ve got a good one already. (It was originally his dad’s car.)
I gotta tell you, this scared me terribly, at least until I talked to his dad. I love that boy like my own child.

Perhaps it would be 3-1 in favor of drugs or alcohol for the young men you know (after all, aren’t you the fella who just told us what all sober Finns are like?), but before you presume that all young movie actors “must” be alike, I hope you’ll consider the possibility that you may not know Haley as well as you think you do. I have no idea what his condition was prior to the accident, but if there’s one young star in Hollywood who is drug- and alcohol-abstinent, I would bet my house on it being Haley Joel Osment.*
I’m inclined to take the word of someone who’s worked with him over that of media vultures.
Well, I’m glad he’s fine. Can you imagine if he wasn’t?
