Worst Actor/Actress

Pauly Shore and Brian Bosworth.

The front-runners on this thread so far appear to be Sylvester Stallone and Demi Moore. I said I agreed with the choice of Moore, and didn’t name my worst actor, but…

I forgot all about Pauley Shore!!!

The has never been another actor who I wanted to get run over by a truck as much as him. Someone needs to duct-tape a bullhorn over his head, turn up the volume all the way, and scream YOU ARE NOT FUNNY!!! YOU NEVER HAVE BEEN FUNNY, YOU NEVER WILL BE FUNNY!!! YOU"RE STUPID< INSIPID< AND BORING!!! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FIND ANOTHER LINE OF WORK!!!" If/when the day comes, I volunteer to be the one on the other end of that bullhorn!

William Shatner!
the sound of a hollow coconut hitting a tree as I fall out of my chair, smacking my head against the hardwood floor…

I can’t believe the list has gotten this far and no one has mentioned the worst acting performance of the 1990’s…or actually, ever: Elizabeth Berkley in “Showgirls” - there’s a part where she eats Doritos, and I found her acting unbelievable.

I’ll admit I haven’t seen anything by Melanie Griffith lately that I’ve liked, but I did like her performance in “Something Wild” and in “Working Girl”.

For pure lack of talent - i.e., having never turned in a decent performance, ever, even playing his/herself, the winner in my book therefore has to be Elizabeth Berkley.

I’ll have to go with Jim Carrey.

He has never get given an actual performance or created a character, even in his so-called “serious” films like “Liar, Liar.” He makes faces. That’s it. “Here’s my Serious Face. Here’s my Concerned Face. Here’s my Funny Face.” Excuse me, that’s not acting, that’s what people get sent to the principal’s office for.

This made me LOL! Thanks!

I’ve heard and read people say they didn’t like Charlton Heston’s over-acting in Planet of the Apes, but they always point to two scenes: When he yells, “It’s a madhouse! A madhouse!” as an ape sprays him with a firehose and the end when he sees the Statue of Liberty.

I have a question: If YOU were in those situations, wouldn’t YOU rant and rave and scream? I think I would. He first is totally helpless and yelling his frustration is perfectly understandable. In the second situation, he realizes that he wasn’t a cynical bastard after all, that he had humanity pegged just right: We had the capacity to commit universal suicide and we did it. And he also realizes for the first time, that he can never EVER go home again.

As I said, people always point to those two scenes. Does that mean the rest of his performance was just fine? I think he was right all the way through.

Still, I agree that in other films he was wooden, but he was frequently cast as icons who had to be beyond reproach, rather than as human beings.

MY LIST:

  1. Keanu Reeves
  2. William Shatner
  3. Chuck Norris
  4. Mark Hamill
  5. Melanie Griffith
  6. Demi Moore
  7. Pamela Anderson (She has only two talents, and they were just reduced.)
  8. Pauley Shore
  9. Adam Sandler (Funny for ten minutes, but his movies last ninety.

There really aren’t too many comic actress out there.

…Chris Tucker? The Fifth Element wasn’t that great a Science Fiction movie, but he ruined it. I understand he was supposed to be obnoxious and annoying, but he overdid it. And poor Jackie Chan had to work with him for his first big-budget Hollywood flick, Rush Hour.
