Worst beatles songs (original)

It was a sideways rewrite of This boy. If the Beach boys had done it it would be remembered as a great song, which I think it is for one.

My feeling is that Dylan wasn’t going to compete with the Sgt Pepper zeitgeist so he came out of seclusion with a stripped down LP. (And then the middle finger to your preconceptions Nashville skyline) Then there was the White Album which was eclectic mastery sort of. Then Big Pink came out and everyone had to get back to basics. It was in the air, which you can see in the Get Back/Let It Be project. Lennon stripping the finish off his guitar. Same Guitar seen in Help is in Let it be.

I went to college in Boston too, among other things… Did you know that the title of the Beatles Bootleg of Let it Be is called “posters incense and candles” because it was taken off the BCN airwaves and there was an ad on it from a head shop?

I’m not gonna tell you how much I disagree with some of your picks but: I recommend listening to the Esher demo version of honey pie. It kicks ass. And one of the funniest lyrics.

I read a compilation of Beatles interviews a while back, and around the time “Yes It Is” came out, both John and George said it was their favorite Beatles song to date.

“You Won’t See Me” starts out fairly good, and then right after the halfway mark, you notice the tempo definitely slowing down…as if the boys REALLY got tired of playing this song. What was it, take twenty-three?

“If I Fell” has some really bad harmonies in there. Every time someone slags the harmony in the bridge of “Let’s Spend The Night Together”, play this one in retribution.

Based on Pictures of Lillie, the organ?

Interesting. My Let it Be bootleg was called Kum Back, and had most of the stuff on Let It Be Naked and also a version of Teddy Boy before the one on Paul’s first solo album.

We’re all disagreeing about everything in this thread! This is pure personal lack of preference.

The first leaked release was the Glyn Johns mix of the record. It was played on BCN and some identifying sounds wound up on the bootleg. I can’t swear there was no other leak. There were many boots after. I think there is 18 volumes of something called “30 Days”. I love Teddy Boy since it came out. Also Junk was a white album reject. I can’t help but think the titles of those two songs were the start of the war of lyrics between john and Paul.

These are new ones on me.
Are you talking about the remastered If I Fell? Youre gonna hear more of the detail by design, but it is not the actual record they made.

From here:

I never noticed that. All mistakes are not signs of inferior songs or recordings to me. I think McCartneys high keening backing vocal was maybe the key ingredient to the Beatles success in the beginning.
There’s a “mistake” in Satisfaction too. The guitar comes in “too soon” It makes the record great and human, to me anyway. I never hear it as an error, but as music made by people.

That “crack” is barely, if at all, noticeable. “If I Fell” and “You Won’t See Me” are some of the earlier stuff I absolutely adore.

It’s like we’re not even listening to the same songs.

I’m hip dude. I am still traumatized over Beatles Vs Joe Cocker.
