Worst Video Games Of The '80s

Marble Madness

Original record. I wasn’t aware there were even remixed versions.

Ok, here we go.

“Pac-Man Fever” released by Buckner & Garcia. My copy is copyright 1982.

It has:
Pac-Man Fever
Froggy’s Lament
Ode To A Centipede
Do the Donkey Kong
Hyperspace
The Defender
Mousetrap
Goin’ Berzerk

Many authentic video game sounds too. Very cool.

Hey! I liked Marble Madness. I had Marble Madness on the Amiga.

I liked Q-Bert. And that one where you fenced in areas of the screen to confine a moving line. And Omega Race. And Stargate and Defender.

I thought Tempest had one of the best and most responsive user interfaces ever.

If you get the idea that I liked games that were outside what became the dominating first-person shooter gentre, you are correct.

I’m with you Sunspace. Those games are not just good, but were fantastic and original.

The games I didn’t like were the ones made by the company that made Tapper, which was their only fun one. Wacko, Timber, and Domino Man were all craptastic games.

I agree with the above two. Great games. How can you not like Q*Bert? It’s a beautifully simple and elegant game, an absolute classic and essential component of video gaming history.

ET for the 2600 is easily the worst game ever made.

Club Drive for the Atari Jaguar may very well be the worst driving game ever. Fortunately, only the unlucky few ever had a Jaguar, much less played this train wreck of a game.

I remember Amidar! My grandparents gave it to my brother and I as a gift when they came back from wintering in Florida. It was a pretty dull game, but we played it anyway. It was nice of them to buy it, after all.

Gimme a buzz if you ever have MP3s of those tracks.

In the meantime, you can buy the modernized CD here. It’s not really a “remix” as much as it’s a re-recording of the original album, but as I said before, I liked the original versions more.
