whinge I wanna marching band wake up /whinge

Sadly I’m pretty much 100% landlubber myself these days, but I can dream…

This happened about 2 years ago. I was renting a room, which was actually a hotel room. It was located on the bottom floor of the building and very close to the ocean, maybe 30 feet from the waters edge. This room was creepy as hell to me because of it’s location and I just had these weird suspicions while staying there that something was going to happen. I had been here about 3 weeks now and this night was just an ordinary night. I went to sleep as usual. Out of nowhere, and I still do not understand why, I woke up out of the blue, my heart racing, sweating, and just amped. When I opened my eyes I noticed it was pitch black in the room. There are lights outside on both sides of the room and a digital clock as light sources, but these weren’t on. I freaked and ran to the door (with only boxers on), opened it up and quickly walked outside and SWOOP my feet went out from under me and I fell to the ground. It had just finished pouring down rain and the ground outside the door was ceramic tile. Now I’m on the ground trying to figure out where I am, it was pitch black outside, not one lightsource in sight. But I began hearing some talking, which was a huge relief. The entire area had blacked out due to a passing storm. I went back in and grabbed my cellphone and put some clothes on. I then left the room and got into my car to explore some and see how vast the black out was. The area blacked out was much more than expected, and much more than I’ve ever seen in my years living here. Took maybe 3 hours til the lights came back on.

I just can’t figure out what woke me up this night… and falling on my ass just after awakening from a deep sleep wasn’t very pleasant either.

Too subtle?

I got it. (Eventually.)
