I stayed in a hotel the other night and they had “extended” cable, meaning, instead of the regular 10 channels, I get 60. Of those 50 extra channels, 6 of them are in spanish, 16 show infomercials 24/7, 3 have no sound, 6 are showing re-runs of crap I never liked to begin with, 5 are showing sports highlights from yesterday 24/7, 4 low-budget kid’s shows, 3 exercise channels, and 7 tv evangelists.
So, what’s YOUR favorite “extened” cable channel?
Moving this from IMHO to Cafe Society.
I watch The Shield on FX, Justice League on Cartoon Network, and lots of stuff on Comedy Central and Food Network. After that, I tune into the news channels or wrestling once in a while, but I can find out all about that stuff online. I admit Turner Classic Movies is pretty nice to have, even though I rarely remember to watch it. I don’t really watch any of the other extended cable channels, and most of them are quite lame. You’re right–lots of Spanish, religious, kiddie-oriented (I include MTV), infomercials, and sports that I just don’t care about. I wish you could pay a cheaper monthly fee and pick ten or twelve cable channels of your choice, rather than an expensive package with so many useless ones.
My favorite extended cable networks:

[li]Nicktoons - Invader Zim, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaaaah! Real Monsters, and others of my favorite Nickelodeon cartoons.[/li][li]Turner Classic Movies - Incredible libary of old movies going all the way back to the invention of the camera (it seems), run without advertisements and in the format in which they were filmed.[/li][li]Fuse - Music videos. My daughter and I watch them together.[/li][li]Discovery Science Channel - Entertaining most of the time.[/li][/ul]
fX isn’t my favorite channel, but I try never to miss The Shield and Rescue Me.
And I never realized just how many absolutely sucky movies Fox has produced until we got Fox Movie Channel. Nothing says “we’ve got crap for movies” more than scheduling a solid month of Phantom of the Paradise, Mannequin, and Towering Inferno.
I watch mostly Comedy Central and GSN (yes, GSN).
I watch DS9 reruns on Spike and Battlestar Galactica on Sci-Fi.
Occasionally I’ll catch a Green Acres rerun on TVland.
I always get my news from the net, so I don’t bother watching any of those with the exception of Weather Channel on occasion.
ESPN never ever gets viewed.
