Would Biden win with a “let’s get back to normal” campaign theme?

He might win with a “we’re fucked, get ready” campaign, as that seems to be what’s expected…

Seriously though, VP debates with Stacey or Elizabeth against Pence, armed only with thoughts, prayers and a “leader” who cares about TV and himself more than that guy in the robe in the desert, would be a joy to watch.

I’d be one of the 16 peeps who tune in to that debate.

I agree that Biden has to go with a positive campaign with a series of popular objectives like continuing health care reform. But I’d love to see a PAC or some other organization go with an ad campaign featuring video clips of the last three and half years of continuous catastrophes, under the banner headline “Is America Great Again Yet?”

I don’t want a return to “normal” because normal sucks ass. Normal is rich people writing all the laws, black people being killed by police and the force of law used to cover up crimes and exploit the citizenry. I don’t wanna go back to that, not even if Joe Biden is president. Normal is 6 Americans each having more wealth than the other 329,999,994 American have combined. I don’t want that world anymore; you can have it.

Normal is an improvement to the abnormal that we currently have. That does not make for an inspiring slogan, I will concede. But rather than complain that too many people are Precious Little Voters who Need To Feel Inspired By Candidates, instead Biden can be a stepping stone to even better things.

As the New York Mag’s Intelligencer posited, Joe Biden Is a Tool (But Progressives Can Use Him):

I am just unsure what catchy slogan can be used for that.

I wonder…

More than is normal this early, people have already made up their minds about the candidates. The thread title implication, that campaign strategy will decide the race, is mistaken.

Maybe I’m just saying this to be contrarian, but Joe will help himself a smidgen if he sits on his lead and avoids motivating lazy Trumpers to go out to vote.
