i live in a county “island”, surrounded by the city. it’s great- no homeowners association, i can do pretty much as i please with my property.
in 3 months they are going to annex us, like it or not. there willthen be rules. i don’t like people telling me what i can or can’t do to my own place.
i have a small barn in my back yard. would it be really rude if i got someone to paint a naked lady on the roof of the barn? just to keep my individuality?
do you think the city would let me keep it? would it be “grandfathered” in?
i have also considered a flock of pink plastic flamingos. or tires buried halfway up along the driveway, then painted white. or getting a potty and using it as a planter in the front yard.
what do you think? do you have any other ideas?
i probably should add, the city is considered the most straight-laced in the state. run almost entirely by a religous group that shall remain nameless-but goes by initals. obviously, i am not a member of this group.
i also don’t deal well with rules of this sort.
It seems to me it would be rude, as you seem to be doing this for no reason other than to annoy people. However, that also seems to be the answer you’re looking for.
Get some chickens. Usually they have to let you keep them, and they will piss people off. If you are really seriuos, get goats and hogs. Not cute little pot-bellied pigs, but huge, nasty, ugly in your face, Doctor Lecter hogs.
Too bad you don’t live next to the Ciry Board or the Mayor, though.
Easter Island Moa Topiary
If it’s the initials I am thinking of, why don’t you put in a Starbucks. Or, how about a statue of Buddha.
Yup, it would be rude.
I’m not sure as to annexation codes in your state, but here there was no “grandfathering” when our area was annexed. Properties in violation of city codes were required to bring their property within code or risk hefty fines. Water bills went up 200%. Ambulance response times went up by two minutes. (OK so that doesn’t sound like alot, but folks sure did make a big deal out of it.) Police presence became more visible and of course, taxes went up.
