Would it bother you if someone was smoking marijuana on the sidewalk?

I don’t care much for the “skunk” smell of certain strains but other than that, no, it wouldn’t bother me.

Yeah, this. Are you cool? Then cool. Being an ass? You’re un-American. Cooperation is what makes society work.

Yes. It bothers me when I see people that have so little respect for society’s laws that they’re willing to commit a crime just because they want to get baked.

That’s my answer.

Smoking and driving is about as dangerous as drinking and driving. Do it at home after work or get harassed by the police like people who drink in public.

I like the smell. Canada will legalize pot by 1 July 2018 which is also Canada Day. It’ll be interesting to talk a walk through those celebrations and the provincial ones a week earlier.

If I’m getting smoke in my face, it bothers me, no matter what kind of smoke it is. Whether it’s getting in my face or not, it’s not my job to make distinctions about what kind of smoke it is, especially since I’m not completely certain I can identify marijuana vs. various other (legal) substances which might be smoked.

I don’t want to smell it. But if the wind is blowing the other way, I wouldn’t care.

That reminds me of a story Pauley Shore was telling about the 90s. He said back then him and his friends had to hide their heads under a blanket while smoking marijuana to avoid pissing off people nearby on the beach.

Things have changed quite a bit now.

As for me, i wouldn’t care if someone smoked in public. Just so long as they aren’t driving while smoking. I don’t understand why some stoners I’ve met seem to think toking and driving is ok. Thats not ok, but aside from that have fun.

Yes, but it bothers me that anybody is smoking anything anywhere. I am perpetually grumpy.

You are aware there are multiple states where it’s just as legal as drinking a beer, right?

When I catch a whiff it makes me smile.

Now, body odor and noxious perfumes I could do without, but whatareyagonnado?

Makes me smile as well. Not because, “Haw Haw, The Man lost and the hippies are running rampant!” but because it represents our society reexamining what sorts of things should result in jail time and ruined lives. Government definitely has a place in our lives whether we like it or not, but prohibition has always been about imposing one set of morals on others and that’s just too intrusive. Impaired driving and other activities likely to harm innocent people–fine, that stays illegal. But it’s not clear why anyone should care what I do to my own body if I’m not harming anyone else.

Fun story: went to a Christmas party this weekend and there was a white elephant gift exchange. Attendees ranged in age from between early 20’s to well-past retirement; construction workers to corporate executives. One of the gifts was a box of gummy edibles. Per the rules of the exchange, there was considerable competition to end up with this gift. An old guy with gout managed to get the last steal. Best part was, the party host was a cop. It is remarkable to think this would not have happened just 5 or 6 years ago. The Donald Trump chia pet ended up in the hands of the actual hippie at the party. He announced he had ‘big plans’ for it.

Of all the odors one may experience on the city streets, cannabis is one of the least objectionable. Body odor, CTA piss stench, excessive personal fragrances, diesel exhaust sewerage and river gas, alewives dieoff, dumpster juice, fresh asphalt and tar …all far , far worse.

It’s not legal in my state, so I would be surprised rather than offended. If he doesn’t mind my cigar, I won’t mind about his doobie.

Just make the stuff legal nation wide, and let’s stop wasting time on it. No, it won’t raise much tax money, and it doesn’t cure anything, but who cares?

Shodan

Well, I suffer from from ennui and it certainly helps me. :frowning:

In what country are these states found?

She meant during Prohibition.

Isn’t that the question though? Legal at state level but Federal trumps State so…

I would be curious to see what happens if the feds decide they want to crack down on this issue. That discussion would be its own thread I think.

Bullshit.
