Yeah, I went down that road, too, but after my 15th or so BHO batch, I realised - ok - I might just end up “blowin up REAL good”.
Butane’s also not nicest thing to be breathing in while you’re the making the shit.
I just hope you were either outside or in a very well-ventilated area when you attempted it.
Also - I just got fuckin lazy - why go through all that bloody bother when you can just boogie into a dispensary and in no time you have a buncha grams or half-grams of OG Shark or Himalayan Kannalope shatter, or some mmmmmm fine fine Cookstar live resin.
According to webehigh.org, San Antonio is a 4.6 on their “legality” scale, with 1 being “the po-po will pull you over if they even think you have a seed on you” and 5 being “it’s legal.”
Not exactly legal here, but it is unofficially decriminalized on the individual user level (given the usual caveats about driving while smoking, etc). And, yes, walking through downtown SA, one commonly smells (and sees) weed being smoked in the open (if you consider smoking a blunt to be ‘open’.)
I am aware that there is a tiny bit of nicotine left, making the smoke technically psychoactive. But I am also under the impression it has negligible effects. Upon a quick Google search, it’s apparently 1% of what you get by smoking, and the main effects are that it can induce cravings in (ex-)smokers.
My understanding is that marijuana is much more potent in smoke. I am fully aware of the concept of hotboxing, and how it can be done even if not everyone is actually smoking. That suggests to me that marijuana is much more psychoactive.
A quick Google search only discussed whether it could lead to you failing a drug test, not amounts or effects.
Several times over the years, I’ve been with a group in a hotbox situation where one person says they don’t wanna hit the joint/bowl/vape, they just want to see if they get high passively.
Every damn time the scientific method fails, as the guinea pig dude breaks down, “hey, lemme hit that”.
About passive highs from second-hand smoke - I’m seeing too much in the media about it being referred to, erroneously, as a “contact high”, which is more like being all straight and sober, and then you go in the close proximity of someone on a mushroom or chemical high (and with no inhalation of anything) and you start feeling their high, and also eliciting a whole whackload of my skepticism.
FWIW - In case you’re curious - of the 25-odd dispensaries in town, Farmacy is my usual go-to, with a bonkers selection.
In that situation I wouldn’t have been surprised if there was just as much 'cid as pot being enjoyed, raising the following question:
I’m sure you got a passive high if there were enough folks toking around you, but are you also saying that you got a contact high from folks on 'cid?
I doubt it, but the air was thick. The music and the crowd vibe helped of course.
Some manager guy came over to us later and thanks us profusely, and gave me a handbill with “This guy gets in free” and a illegible signature scrawled on it. That gave me a back stage pass, oddly, and that Christmas someone sent me a Jerry Garcia tie. I have no idea how they knew my address, but hey.
I don’t use the stuff, and I don’t know anyone who does, so my exposure has been limited. But the two times I know I was near it–not even being smoked, once found in a baggie at the store I worked in and once passing a man in CO–I felt like someone had reached inside my skull and twisted my brain around. I don’t think I will be visiting Canada, because I can’t afford to before 7-1-2018.
Yes, the Grateful Dead are known for being associated with LSD. I am also puzzled because “LSD” is one character shorter than “'cid”. Perhaps it comes from the habit of writing as one talks?
A contact high from LSD is not likely. A typical dose is 0.1mg on a quarter inch piece of paper.
I presume one could vaporize it while it’s in powder/liquid/sugar cube form but I’ve never heard of vaporizing it.
Funny, yeah I never realised the apostrophe makes it one extra character. I just figured folks might not catch on to what just “cid” is, without the apostrophe.
Wow! I don’t use the stuff, but I’ve been to parties where others were indulging, and I even tried it once in college. When I actually tried smoking it all I really noticed was a horrible taste in the back of my throat for the next two hours. I wouldn’t have wanted to be tested for drugs after the parties, but I didn’t get high enough to notice it. I believe you can get a second-hand-smoke high, but I think for most of us, it’s hard.
I’ve never heard of a second hand acid high. I don’t think that happens.
